@vicky113 Both are very good brand names. Obvious GS is a better brand. However, I would say, instead of looking at the brand and the pay, find out where you will be given a better profile. For example, do not settle for a back-office job just because the pay/brand is better. After another switch, you will notice the advantages of selecting a better work profile.
@katty14 What is your plan if you don't get a good school next year too if you quit your job now?
@sb29 though I am expecting top b schools but if not, I will look what B-schools I am getting...and then will go for the best available B-school...(perhaps schools in the range of IITs or IMT/IMI(dis yr what i am getting) )

in worst case..if I dont get even those schools....I am not very sure...but will join some job again...
@katty14 I would suggest that you give your best shot at getting into some good school this year itself. If you wait for another year, you will have 4 years of workex if you don't leave your job or 3 yrs of workex + 1 yr of unemployment. In either case, that is higher than average in top business schools. However, if you are determined, then go ahead with your plan.

HI! I AM A DENTIST. I AM A FRESHER.
CAT OA: 83.72 PERCENTILE
1OTH: 72.2%
12TH: 79%
BDS(DENTAL): 55.8 (MY COLLEGE IS TOP GOVERNMENT COLLEGE BUT SADLY TOO STINGY WHEN IT COMES TO ALLOCATING MARKS)
CATEGORY: SC
I HAVE GOT CALLS FROM IIM A-ABM, IIM-LUCKNOW, RANCHI, ROHTAK, RAIPUR AND UDAIPUR
SAD PART IS I HAVE HAD ACADEMIC BREAKS (ONE BETWEEN 10TH AND 11TH DUE TO HEALTH REASONS AND ONE IN THE INTERNSHIP). I AM WORRIED BECAUSE OF THEM. DO I HAVE A CHANCE TO CONVERT MY CALLS?

@kanika13

First of all I would request you not to post in all CAPS.

As far as chances are concerned, it all depends on you. You have to justify the reasons for academic breaks. If you can convince the panel with some genuine reasons, I don't think there should be any problems in converting your calls.

So, prepare well and give your best. All the Best.. !!
@avinashkrjha thanks :)

Hi my profile :

12th : 73%
Engineering (E & C) : 67% ( from an average college, tough university where 70%plus is a big and rare thing).2010 passout

Just a small query. I am tired with my job. I want to quit it and join TIME or Career Launcher full time classes. Good or bad idea?
@vinuchel Bad idea I would say. Proper work experience always helps. Why don't you look for a switch.
@sb29 .. Am already tired of this IT job. Also having worked closed to 2 years in testing, I dont have any notable technical skills. ( yes I used to do data-entry to application in name of testing all this time). So am now extremely frustrated...

Your frustration is understandable, but do not stay out of a job altogether. Im sure you can find a better job which would interest you and develop your skills more than this one. It might take a while to find it but keep looking for one. In the meantime you can start your test prep on the side.

Thanks but can you tell me in more detail....What do you mean by higher than average...??
Will it affect in admission preocess itself or in placements....and will I not get benefit of profile of having both IT and banking experience...??

Sometimes I feel i have made blunder by shifting my job from TCS to bank PO...what should i do??...Last year I left IMT-G and NM-HR...and dis yr situations were so that I couldn't prepare and hence didnot fill much forms...I dont know if I will get a call from IIT-K or XIMB dis year...didn't fill IMT,IMI and NM dis year...I thought I was taking a right decision but now again I am feeling that it may go wrong...suggest me what to do....I dont want to ruin my career wid my bad decisions....

Hello guys,

I am attending Interviews right now and in the verge of getting a job in a MNC as Automation Test Engineer...I am BE , computer science grad...I am 24 now..

Eventhough a job in a MNC would be lucrative , deep in my heart i have a dilemma whether to do any PG courses or not...Some months back i was thinking of taking up CAT but after analyzing the fees sturcture ( 14-15 lakhs minimum ) i dropped the plan and also nt interested in getting a loan from bank.. Coz i analysed onething...most of the guys who are doing MBA in IIM would have worked for atleast minimum 2 years , so they would have saved their salaries atleast 6 lakhs and remaining money they could borrow from banks...but i have to take loan of more than 12 Lakhs which i am not interested in. My Budget is max 2 Lakhs..therefore i dropped the B-school plans and thought of doing ME...but i feel like should i leave job to again study 2 years and anyway i am going to get into IT after finished ME...so why leave the job now ? but the only + about ME right now for me is i can also get into Teaching side ( Lecturer ) after finishing it , if i dont wanna go in IT field...

So my friend suggested to do ME in Correspondence...but how much will it be valid / useful to get a job ?

And pagalguy member also said , there is 1 year MBA at ISB, XL, SP etc...so i am thinking 1 year course is better compared to 2, coz i am 24 now and will be 25 in march...but again whats is its advantages and disadvantages and fees stricture...??

Hope u guys understood the situation i am in now...Looking forward for a answer..

@powermatrix
first assumption that a guy would have worked for 2 years and saved 6 lacs is way out of bounds..
for a graduate, saving 6 lacs in 2 years is a achievement in itself..

Executive MBA for 1 year requires min 5 years experience in most of the cases.. and their fee is also not so less as you may have assumed to be....

As per your post, it seems you r looking to get only into IIMs (min 14lac fee as mentioned by you)

SP and XL have lower fee if you are interested..

and if you wanna do it really cheap from good college, try for FMS and JBIMS..

I seriously doubt about ME correspondance . Not ME in fact MBA correspandace also doesn't help much.
YOu want to do become a lecturer? anything specific in technical field? or fine with managerial also? If you are fine with managerial, then you can do FPM( i know it's 4 year course 😛 but you will be paid )

Yes there is 1 year course in The above colleges. BUt fees is no less than 2 year course i assume(not sure though). At the same time, these college's 1 year course demand diversity in your profile and also lot of work ex. The eligibility cirteria in ISb says 2 years. but you can find the average work ex in ISB is around 7-8 years 😃 For XL the min work ex required is 5 years. And for SP i guess it is 3

Hi..my profile is as follows :

10th-91.6% (CBSE)
12th-87% (CBSE)
Grad- 68%
male-Engg-Gen

with the top B schools giving a lot of importance to acads..i doubt if i will be able to make it to any top B school. can anyone give me an honest opinion whether or not my profile is good enough to get me into a B school if I get a very good percentile in CAT ?

@prateekdce your acads are good enough to get calls from all the top b-schools(except 2,3 iims)
just focus on cat, xat. if u get 99%ile or more in cat be sure of the calls from top 15-20 b-schools.Past acads cant be changed now only thing u can do is to prepare hard. ATB!!!
hello.
i know i'm posting quite late and don't have much scope left right now but wanted to get an honest opinion.

CAT
OA 79.06
VA 91.38
QA 54.31 ;(

XAT
OA 97.06 (dropped after the revised scores came out)
EL 98.95
QA 97.49
DM 33.1

IIFT missed the overall cut-off :(

NMAT 203 :(

Graduation: 71%(as of now, in final year; b.tech from EC)

12th : 73%

10th 80%

luck was not by my side as there was no way i could have gone so low either in DM in XAT or QA in CAT. i'm dead sure of the fact.
my 10 minutes were wasted in IIFT due to a seating error(i'm to blame for it) and hence the result.

i wanted an advice as to should i take an admission this year or give it another shot the coming year.

honest opinions plz.
@mrinal4CAT bhai i see you have almost nailed all exam. you are just at the verge of cracking them. if your acads are great go for another shot 😃 you might get a better college 😃 your score tells that you are talented. So do not waste it 😃 Some big ones are waiting for you 😃
At the same time, try to overcome your weakness 😃
