hello puys !!
i want to know if anybody has any info abt calligraphy...as in is there any calligraphy competitions held in india?? or any certificate course or prize for calligraphy
THANK YOU..
ok..this is my first post here and am in for some drastic help. my situation is worse than ANY one has ever been.:-)
I have seen worse.
am a 2008-11 batch passout from St. Xavier's College, kolkata with 65% marks in BBA.
65% is not bad.
but at the end of the year, i flunked the LAST exam for just 5 marks and got a "general" degree with 1st division instead of a "honours" degree with 1st class.
Be thankful to your university. You still got a grad degree with 1st division without extending your graduation. i am saying this from personal experience.
Now Ask yourself does it really matter when you are thinking about CAT.
i had given CAT last year but scored disastrously. i haven't given any other MBA entrance exam. this year i gave WBJEMAT and got a ranking of 134, but partly due to non nonavailability of good college and partly due to family pressure, i let it pass. i was under West Bengal university during by 10th and 12th and scored 77% and 75% respectively. i studied pure science (physics, chemistry, maths, biology) till 12th and then studied BBA.
1st attempt to CAT. couldnt get much. no issues..What was your CAT score anyway. PM me.
77 75 65 is not bad.
this time for CAT, i have enrolled under TCC management systems, kolkata but sadly due to my mother's galucoma operation, am not able to yet kick off real hard for CAT/MAT/SNAP/XAT.
What can i say man. No alternative here. you have to prepare hard.
i just want to ask you fellow members, is there ANY chance of me having a good future??...please give me some good honest suggestions. my father is working in private firm and i cannot sit for too many days trying for competitive examinations. am good in english but VERY poor in maths. it is also good to mention, i do not have any other qualifications like playing/singing/etc. am i on a deadlock??
Why not..u jst passed last year... find out colgs you want to go for... give good attempt at CAT dis year.... find a job in meantime.. justifying 1 year gap after grad is no big deal.... bt its very difficult to justify two years..

N.B.: if i post this thread in a wrong thread or something, please don't flame. i drastically need your help.
A few famous lines ..
Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.
These few lines say everything ..forget what happened in past .. if you are weak on quant section work on it .. i was very poor in quant too and have scored 3%tile in mocks .. but that's where you need to keep working hard on your weaknesses and the results will come .. CAT is not an impossible mission to conquer .. manage your time well .. give yourself some time daily .. atleast 1hr daily to prepare well and also keep giving and analyzing mocks .. you will see some improvement ..
you already answered your question here
"My motto is a good job after masters and i am more interested in MBA than anything else."
SO go for MBA of your dream college . don't compromise.
Thanks for the reply but main issue is that this is their 1st batch of AUD delhi.Though AUD is a govt. university but i am not sure about my future from AUD. Are my concerns justified for AUD or not?
hello puys,
My academic details are
10th - 87 (2006)
12th - 84 (200 commerce
Bcom- 59.6(2011)very low scoring University
enrolled for CFA l1 june 2012 exam
I gave CAT in 2010 scored 70 %ile..again in 2011 score 81 %ile
I am working in my Family business from past 1 year.
was planned to score well in 2011 CAT and join some good bschool but didn't even get a missed Call
then from PG itself got detail about a NISM's PGPSM course.impressed with the course detail.gave the exam and got the call for second round.
Now am getting some negative review about this course like placements are bleak and all.Is that all true ?
I want to ask that with 59.6% in graduation will I be able to break into Finance Industry(Investment banking)?
now i am planning to do MBA after earning CFA charter.

Yes the final degree is required by not only colleges but also by companies you may get placed in future .. so try to get your final certificate .. I dont think for a small tussle , your dean would stop your certificate .. Talk to your father and deal with the situation asap

Both companies are well renowned brands .. and if the domain is IT .. then it may not matter much .. For the work profile wrt to Ericsson talk to some one working there , Cognizant would be usual work such as a developer , tester or DBA etc ..
PS: Naga sir can enlighten on cognizant more ..
Indian Chanakya Saysplease advise me......
Hi
Have just completed my Graduation in B.com from Patna University. Now really confused on Career front as to what to chose from..
have discarded many options and now left with only one i.e. to go for higher education (M.B.A) not only because of family pressure.. but also this what I feel that i want to pursue.
I have give MAT exam this year.. nd have scored 90.43 percentile.
Could you please suggest that is my decision correct?
because few days back i was confident about my decision.. but today when I met one of my cousins who has done his MBA from Amity University, Noida has not got any placement and the investment made was huge. Looking at the present scenario.. i do not feeling very positive about it.
Kindly suggest.
Regards

frustooo SaysNot at all,u should follow ur instinct the reason why ppl are more inclined towards finance and marketing is that most of the CEOs earlier belonged to this trade only and operation is a high paying trade. This is a general perception.however there are cases where HR has been given the head position(HUL India) and a very hi paying job. So moral of the story ur approach is absolutely correct. way to go buddy :cheers:
Ya I get that a lot that I should follow my instinct. But sometimes one needs to get out of their comfort and mind and get real.
The only and perhaps the biggest disadvantage that I can think of now is that an HR guy would rarely become a CEO/President of a corporation. But then again, there are always exceptions like the one you mentioned. But thats okay. Becoming a CEO/President depends on various controllable and uncontrollable factors. Its good to think big and in the long term, but there is only that much you can do currently. Every job perhaps has some disadvantages. For instance, an IAS can only end up being Cabinet Secetary and not a Cabinet Minister or PM.
So I guess one just has to endure it and be happy and healthy, come whatever may.
Thanks for your response. :clap::cheerio:

Buddy
Taking your academic record and all other parameters into consideration, you do stand a very strong chance of making it to top IIMs and other top B-Schools next year.
I see your decision of taking another shot a wise one.
All the best!
totallyBROKEN Saysso, no one can actually help me here 😞 :(....pleaseeee!!!
YES..there is always a chance for a good future...you just have to try more and more...let go of the past...just decide what your priorities are....and if CAT is among the top 3...go for it and you will definitely make it to some good college...so cheer up !!!

guys i have the following queries
1) what shd be my career path-
a) join IIMI if i clear it
b) give CAT again in 2012 as it might help coz i have 2 more degree now and valuable achievements in form of rank and AIR hgst marks in a subject (so better chances of clearing PI of IIMs) and also coz this time i gave CAT11 with very less preparation ....for CAT12 i can prepare better(and might get ABCL calls also)
c) forget MBA and just focus on working in any company...
2) if u suggest either of options a) or b) or c) do u think i shd also go for courses like CFA/NCFM/FLIP/PRM etc as it may add value to my profile.
3) can u suggest any good career councellor around delhi NCR or any other person who can help me taking such decisions
plz answer the above queries considering in mind my age(currently 23.75yrs) and that currently if i go for a job i wd get a max of 7-8 lacs CTC pa bcoz of limited exposure...
plz someone answer me i am very confused....

Buddy
Suggest to join IIM-I in case you convert it. 😃 You having a good profile will do well there. 😃
And god forbid if you dont make it to I this year, then take another shot at MBA exams coming season alongwith the job.
In both the above cases, going for CFA/FRM will help you in strengthening your profile. Go for one of these two depending on your career interests viz. investment/risk management.
Suggest not to go for NCFM as it doesn't add much value wrt the companies that will be visiting any top B-School.
All the best !

Go for Ericsson...it generally has a better work environment....although cognizant is also not bad...but since it's an MRC...hence, not recommended.
@ananygoel :
first things first: y r u so much into earning degrees..rather learn skillsets...i would simply say just decide wheter u want to be in CA/CS/ICWA role or u want to be MBA role..if u do convert IIMI simply join it..nothing better than that and once ur in IIMI u will get plenty of guidance on how to shape ur carreer from Professors, colleagues etc...
If u dont convert IIMI, first decide on ur career path - CA/CS/ICWA or MBA, then accordingly join a company which will take ur career in the right direction..
I must admit ur CV is something HRs would make a beeline for u...

suggest you to consult some1 from these companies on:
1. Amount of work hrs you put in office
2. Package
3. In case ur MBA pursuit doesn't go well which will be best for future career.
