Dear All,
I gave 2011 CAT but just got 78.81 percentile:banghead::banghead: and i already have 4 years of work experience in a Telecom MNC and Also converted SITM and IIFM this year but I didn't joined both so i am very very confused that may i had made a mistake by not joining SITM because so many people are complaining that I have made a big mistake by not joining but i really do not have much interest in Telecom as well as in Forestry.
Some people are saying that next year u will be completing 5 yrs of work experience which will be a negative thing for me and one more thing is CAT is very unpredictable and it can be very Dicey.
One more thing right now i am being posted in a very small city where i cann't find good coaching classes for the preperation of Exams like CAT and GMAT.
So all of you please suggest what should i do because i am finding it very difficult to make up a mind on now what should i do because i didn't like the job which i am doing, may i can quit it and give one more decent shot for cat 2012 and even can you people suggest me what else i can do.

I personally would not suggest you to leave your job, though if you find that coaching classes are critical to your preparation then you can quit and work with a NGO or a less strenuous job for a while, along with your preparation. As far as the colleges that you can go for are concerned, with 5 years of experience your options are quite limited in India. If you are looking for a marketing profile it may be a little difficult for you to start off in sales as it is in most cases, as most of the companies prefer freshers or candidates with less work ex.

The top IIMs,ISB,XLRI,FMS,JBIMS are some of the colleges that you should look to target in India. If you appear for GMAT too there are many options abroad that would suit your work ex,provided you have a decent/good profile.

I am not sure why you are thinking of quitting your job for CAT prep.. There is always an option to go for weekend classes..

In case you need to break the bond then also you can show your salary slips to prove your work exp.

Would the salary slips work as experience proof ? And if I show the experience during admission process , then i would have to show the same during the placements, would the salary slips alone suffice then, for the other companies ?

Thanks.

I am currently woking in an IT company for 1.8

I gave GRE in 2009 score 1390.GAve cat 2011 got 80%tile but i had call from sibm n scmnrd via snap could not convert though .
Now i have may have an option to join Crisil Cap program but then i will have to go for gmat.
I am confused because i dunno whether i should take risk with crisil cap and then go for gmat or try for cat again this year and also apply for MS in some college but then with a gamble like cat if i dont get into good college(top15 preferably) going for gmat would also be difficult withan IT exp. Because priority for me is to go for a PG actually wanna do Mba and get into finance but i think with my current situation taking any one direction closes doors on others which may leave me with no PG

kindly advise if can understand my situation

Hi..i did my B. Tech from Jodhpur and joined Time, jodhpur last year. But my CAT result was below expectations. So i am planning to join CAT coaching institute in jaipur widin 3-4 days. Cud u plz suggest me which institute shud i go for. TIME, KINGS or any other??? Have heard a lot about KINGS as well..pls pls pls do guide me asap!
This is my first year of working in an IT giant at a remote location ie Gandhinagar, where only there are two coaching insitutes at near distance. Endeavour and TIME.

TIME is not having crash course for 2012 during the evenings.
Endeavour doesn't have branches o/s Gujarat.(and i am still on bench, literally; high chances of transfer).

I did receive a call from TIME to join their CAT 2013 batch, which would be 2 times a week. But i feel, that i wouldn't be able to give my concentration for such a long time, and my friends who enrolled for CAT classes spanning 12-15 months told me that , even the faculty dont take classes seriously, till the last 8 months.

I would prefer Crash courses. Are there chances after CAT 2012, crash course of CAT13 shall commence, which would finish classroom lectures in 4-5 months (evening/morning batches), so that i can engross in self-study and mocks only (i mean any coaching class)?

Class 10:83.33 (State Board)
Class 12: 86.4 (CBSE)

You may want to use Search function to find out what others have said (if anyone has) or to ask a fresh question about choice of coaching institute in a particular city/town in this thread: http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/2012-2013-cat-coaching-classes-test-series-queries-25082562

Subject : Need help..

Hi All,

I am Naveli with 6 years of experience in Business Analyst type role in IT company. I have done B.E. in E&TC; from a very good college in Pune University.. I love maths and my logical analysis is good..

I am stuck up badly in my current profile which does not give me much in return to my efforts. So I have decided to take a chance in MBA. Which will take my career and my low confidence to a better level.

Currently I am on Sabbatical leave from June 1st with my husband at USA. And I want to utilise this time in preparing for MBA exam majorly for CAT , SNAP, CET.. Preferebly CET/SNAP.. coz i have location constraint.. and I can not study anywhere else except Pune..

But I am not confident friends.. I am not sure if doing MBA is the right decision or not.. I dont think executive MBA will help.. I have heard it should be done after 8-9 yrs of exp plus it is very expensive compared to PGDM.
Friends please help me boost my confidence in myself..

Please some reply to above quote.
1. Which MBA is best after 6 yrs of exp.. - fulltime 2 yrs PGDM or executive or part time?
2. which is one more costly.. ?
3. which promises placement/job more?

Please note I am ready to take a break of 2 yrs in job for the sake of study.. But there should be job security after MBA..

Hi Naveli
I understand you're new here, so welcome to the forum!

You have posted the same query in 6 different threads within a span of half hour!!! Please make a post only once and wait for some time to see if someone replies before you post again in a different thread or same thread.

You may want to go through the Rules & Guidelines of the forum to understand better.

Regarding your query, with 6 years of experience I doubt if you'll get value for money if you do MBA from any place just like that. And with a location constraint it gets even more tough. Otherwise I would recommend doing an MBA from one of the top institutes only. ISB Hyderabad, Great Lakes Chennai, XLRI GMP program, PGPM at SP Jain etc. are some I would recommend. The last one especially because it is the nearest one to Pune. You can use Search function to find out more from the respective threads for the courses at these institutes. Otherwise since you're already at US why don't you try for GMAT and some options there?

Regarding Executive MBA, people do it after 5 years also. So it all depends on your requirements. Mostly people who do executive MBA stick on in same industry and get a profile/package boost in same company (or at least maybe same industry). With a full time MBA you get the option of changing track/line-of-work and also industry. So depends on your choice of what you want.

You may want to check out the following threads to understand better and to take a decision about your dilemma:

For admissions in academic year 2013-15, you'll be asked to submit final mark sheets/degree certificate and all other documents at almost all institutes, wherever you get admission, by October 2013!! So you have enough and more time to get your backlogs cleared and get the full and final certificates. No need to worry about 15credits, leaving a subject and all that!

Forget it and concentrate on preparations.
Would the salary slips work as experience proof ? And if I show the experience during admission process , then i would have to show the same during the placements, would the salary slips alone suffice then, for the other companies ?

Thanks.

AFAIK, proof of work experience as asked for by any institute or during final placements after MBA clearly states:
Relieving letter OR
work-exp certificate OR
joining letter (with joining date mentioned) and last 3 months pay slip!

You seem to be having all kind of options .. The important thing now is choosing the best

First clear your mind whether you need MS or MBA ..

If MS , choose the college which you applied to GRE (provided if you get an admit )

If MBA , Try cat this year . Also simultaneously prepare and take gmat by may 2013 . You will have 3 years experience by Aug-Sep 2013 .. so you can apply for fall 2014 batch in bschools. Either of the one should click for you

Good luck !
m having 2 jobs in hand
1st-TCS with EIS department
2nd- sales and marketing in JTEKT corp.
TCS joining is in December and JTEKT in july

i wish to do MBA (sales and marketing), so wich wd be better i mean if i go for TCS i wd get ample time fr CAT bt interview conversion wd b dicey.. dont have supernatural grades in acads.. and for "sales nd marketing" i believe i wont get much time for studies, but good exposure..

profile--
10th- 89%
12th- 85%
grad- IIIT jabalpur 6.3
cat 2011- 92
loads of extra curricular and NGO works

actually the company i am talking about "JTEKT Sona automotive" is an automotive ancillary and drive line component manufacturing company (manufactures power steering for automotive companies) , its not an OEM. and the job profile would basically be B2B sales and marketing include handling the payment status of costumers and assisting the manager sales and marketing. compared to TCS its not as such a brand company (job profile is certainly better then TCS- "assistant system engineer"). fewer number of employees, tiny infrastructure, and small turnover. so the questions is same.. which company would be better to join considering the fact that i wanna pursue MBA from tier1 colleges only..
