AFAIK, proof of work experience as asked for by any institute or during final placements after MBA clearly states:
Relieving letter OR
work-exp certificate OR
joining letter (with joining date mentioned) and last 3 months pay slip!

Well, in case of breaking the bond the first two options are a no-go(i don't think it will be wise to show the experience proof via termination letter which any and every absconding employee will get).

The third option sounds good. How sure are you about this being valid pan colleges and companies ?
AFAIK --> As far as I know, right ?? I am just guessing.
Thanks.
m having 2 jobs in hand
1st-TCS with EIS department
2nd- sales and marketing in JTEKT corp.
TCS joining is in December and JTEKT in july

i wish to do MBA (sales and marketing), so wich wd be better i mean if i go for TCS i wd get ample time fr CAT bt interview conversion wd b dicey.. dont have supernatural grades in acads.. and for "sales nd marketing" i believe i wont get much time for studies, but good exposure..

profile--
10th- 89%
12th- 85%
grad- IIIT jabalpur 6.3
cat 2011- 92
loads of extra curricular and NGO works

actually the company i am talking about "JTEKT Sona automotive" is an automotive ancillary and drive line component manufacturing company (manufactures power steering for automotive companies) , its not an OEM. and the job profile would basically be B2B sales and marketing include handling the payment status of costumers and assisting the manager sales and marketing. compared to TCS its not as such a brand company (job profile is certainly better then TCS- "assistant system engineer"). fewer number of employees, tiny infrastructure, and small turnover. so the questions is same.. which company would be better to join considering the fact that i wanna pursue MBA from tier1 colleges only..

I'll suggest you to go for TCS
Preparation for CAT is more important.
In small company work load will be extremely high.and you won't get sufficient time for preps.

I'm 80-90% sure it will be accepted in almost all the institutes in the country!

And for placements post-MBA also that would work perfect!

All the Best! :cheerio:

I am pretty sure that XLRI asks for a relieving letter or a letter of sabbatical from your firm before you join the institute.

P.S. My gf broke her bond with her firm this year and had to pay because she needed the relieving letter for admission to XL

Do you want to stick on IT industry itself after MBA? If yes, it will be OK if you appear for CAT next year also. If it is because you're not happy with current job then go for it this year itself. But I don't think that is the case because you're ready to wait till next year also.

If you write CAT and join for MBA next year, you'll have a work exp of just above 1 yr or less when classes begin. This work exp MAY or MAY NOT be considered by companies coming for final placements after MBA. And if they consider, then whether you'll be given credit in terms of better profile/package will be depending on the industry of that organization and also relevance of your work exp with the job you're supposed to do. If you take CAT next year then you'll have 2+ years of work exp when you MBA classes begin in 2014, in which case you will be considered as a lateral and you'll get benefits of better package/profile (again only if it is relevant work exp that you have)

So first define/identify what you're looking forward to from doing an MBA and then decide when to give it!!

Finally if you decide on this year, then the first place to start is give a mock test or previous year CAT paper and find out where you stand, what are your areas of strength & weakness. Accordingly you need to prepare a plan for preparation with focus on weak areas and practice on strong areas to maintain it as a strong area!!

Purely from a theoretical point of view, many top business schools will look for good acads which will include your std X marks. Some may not even shortlist you. However, M.Tech. admissions are based on only GATE and you can get into a top institute if you score well in GATE.

However, the proper way to choose a career is to think what kind of work you would like to do, technical or managerial.

Hi All,

I am Naveli with 6 years of experience in Business Analyst type role in IT company. I have done B.E. in E&TC; from a very good college in Pune University.. I love maths and my logical analysis is good..

I am stuck up badly in my current profile which does not give me much in return to my efforts. So I have decided to take a chance in MBA. Which will take my career and my low confidence to a better level.

Currently I am on Sabbatical leave from June 1st with my husband at USA. And I want to utilise this time in preparing for MBA exam majorly for CAT , SNAP, CET.. Preferebly CET/SNAP.. coz i have location constraint.. and I can not study anywhere else except Pune..

But I am not confident friends.. I am not sure if doing MBA is the right decision or not.. I dont think executive MBA will help.. I have heard it should be done after 8-9 yrs of exp plus it is very expensive compared to PGDM.
Friends please help me boost my confidence in myself..

Executive PGP would be best for you or you can go for part-time mba courses..You can explore these.
I'm 80-90% sure it will be accepted in almost all the institutes in the country!

@ajaygovindg :

I wish I could ask you --> " can I take your word for that this will work as and when I get to a college or placements?" . But I know better, I wish I could get a formal statement from the institutions.:-P

@vineetjain111:

When did she break her bond, after clearing the exam, after getting the admission, before the exam ? The timing is of importance.

Thing is if I could be assured that I would be able to show my work experience for the past 1 year I will gladly leave my job and prepare. But In my case, I will need the payslips to work as I would have to break the bond. This is the dilemma, as I am not sure I will be able to get the same marks as I would have got without job in the last three months. Moreover, I also don't feel like giving away about an year of exp for nothing. :banghead::banghead::drinking:

How much experience do you have in HCL? How much in IBM? If it is less than 1 year, than do not bother about experience. Companies like IBM consider you as a fresher till 2 years of experience.

Hi everyone,

I am pursuing bachelors of business economics from Delhi university. My graduation will end in April 2013. I am confused between doing MBA from India or msc from abroad

My profile:

Tenth- 83 percent
12th- 68 percent(PCM)
Expected in graduation- above 60 percent

Extracurricular activities-
Founded a startup last year, a marketing platform for companies Targetting students. The operations shut down this year due to dispute between cofounders
Associate member of aiesec- participation in social ventures, hosting international interns

Got 550 rank in bbs entrance examination( approximate applicants- 15000 above)

I had been a bright and creative student but screwed up since tenth. I had been diagnosed with ADHD. Till now, I wanted to startup after my graduation but now I plan to do a post graduation which gives me a job security with a minimum salary of 1 lakh per month at least. So that I can freely startup without my parents worrying up.

I am confused between cat and GMAT as there is less time in cat. Also I am not sure if my profile suits a good b school abroad. Please suggest me something. Is there someway I can improve my profile or should I stick my guns to Indian schools only. I am aiming at global sp Jain? I am good in quants, verbal and gk as my Bbs ranking shows.

Yep. That would be better! 😃 AFAIK, when I was looking for admissions, I remember seeing the particular statement about joining letter+pay slips also being accepted. There might be a few institutions like vineet says XLRI, who do not accept it.

Minimum 1 lakh per month!!  And that too with no prior full time work experience (I doubt, if your start up will be considered as work exp because usually institutes ask for full-time work exp after graduation)

I guess only if you go to the ivy league institutes in the country like the old IIMs, XLRI, FMS etc. you have more than 50% chance to get such figures. But otherwise there are countable few in every institute who get those magic figures! If you do MBA outside and get a job there itself then your salary in Indian currency might be in 1lakh range!!

Think properly and get maximum FIRST HAND info about the institute you plan to join. Otherwise you might get a rude shock in final placements after MBA!!

I am not aiming MBA abroad but msc. the salary figure was to convey that my fees paid is fully justified. I don't want to land up in any institution and pay fees and get nothing in return. Please review my profile

No one wants to dude! Everyone looks at ROI. But then if you're looking at something like you pay 8-9 lakh fees (which is like average in India) and you get it all back in 6-9 months, it won't be possible everywhere. I mean in all institutes. In the first place that's a wrong interpretation of ROI, with investment for any education.

And MBA is not just about money. Do MBA and you get a fat pay package and sit at home comfortably. NO, Sorry that's not how it works, fortunately or unfortunately. And your profile also doesn't show much. I mean people with consistent 80+ % in X, XII, grad end up not getting a seat in top institutes! They probably won't wait to listen if you were good earlier etc. They look at what's on paper as your marks and judge you.

Sorry if it sounds offensive. No such intentions. Also not trying to demotivate you or make you worried about academics. As of now, work hard for a good CAT score (if you finally decide on MBA in India and take up CAT this year) and you may get what you deserve. And do your homework and study/identify the institutes you want to target.

No B-school in India can guarantee you 1lac per month , probability of earning post tax 1 lac per month is bleak when you pass out

Aim should be to make yourself capable enough to deserve 1 lac per month.. College can give you opportunities but its you who has to work hard no matter where you end up .. Also would you work as a janitor for 1 lac rs per month? if yes the go ahead goto some gulf country right now , else if you feel that no my "career" is also important "what i want to do" is also important , where my "interest" lies is also important , think of MBA as a career making opportunity than money..

Apologizing for being blunt , but i thought a sore truth is better than a thousand sweet lies ..

Dude get into a good school first and then 'demand' for such stuff. Understand that it is a post graduate 'education'!

You won't be eligible for MS in USA as they require 16 yrs education (i think). You can try UK, Euro, Singapore and Australia. But from what I have seen, with an MS, you won't land a good job there when you compare with the general salary prevalent there. I know people with MSc in UK getting 13k pound package. When you convert it into INR, it is >1 lakh a month. But at PPP it is like a 25k job in India. However, as I said, it is education and the quality will be comparable (and may exceed) to top institutions in India. You will learn a lot.

I think you are eligible for all the top institutes in India as well. So CAT is not a bad option either.

I won't recommend the global MBA thing.

PS: When people say 12 lakh pa CTC, they get around 70-75k per month. To get 1 lakh pm in hand, I think your CTC needs to be 20 lpa. I think even IIMA doesn't guarantee that!
Hi all,
I have been working as a software developer for last 2.5 years and recently got an opportunity to work as a business analyst.
As i do not have a MBA degree, the role of business analyst can prove out to be very challenging for me.
Will this experience as BA,help me out if i want to pursue my MBA in near future???
