Thanks. Yes I appeared for all exams on the same day to save money I felt that the level of difficulty of the exam was much lower than what I had expected it to be from FRM material and PRM handbook.
Congrats gkrm ! So did you give all the 4 exams in one go?
What sort of help are you looking for?I will give general tips here.
PRM handbook might seem overwhelming to begin with.If you can start with FRM Schweser material or FRM handbook and then gradually shift to PRM handbook, that would be better. You need not cover the topics in PRM handbook in the same order.Refresh your fundas of calculus and numerical methods.
In case you need any specific help, send me a private message.
Good to be back on the PRM thread after a long time. Still have not started with my EXAM 3 prep, after getting a job as an investment adviser, got lethargic and started taking life easy. Well now this is my last trimester of MBA, so will finish of the prep and give EXAM 3 soon enough
Exam was OK but I faced an issue with the Windows calculator. Each number I clicked on was taken multiple tmes by it due to which it was almost impossible to use it. I'm sure i would have lost some marks due to that. Calculating manually was impossible in the Mathematics exam. Has anyone else faced such an issue?
This is rather serious.I suggest you to contact Ms. Mahalia English at [email protected] or [email protected] regarding the issue.I am not sure whether she would be able to help you but at least she should be able to tell you whom you should contact regarding this problem. Of course I don't know anyone in PRMIA but Mahalia was the one who communicated my exam result on e-mail.

I cleared Exam 2 this week!!!!

Hey pls report the issue, because even i faced the same problem, not only was it givin multiple digits but also multiple computations; I had taken the first exam, and i had to redo many of the calculations but cudnt do atleast 4-5 questions., n lost quite a lot of time cuz of al tht mess. And i have reported it to the exam committee after seeing ur post, and they ve taken up the issue, awaitin the outcome and my results. It would be nice if u too could report the issue, since it ld give more credibility to the claim. n in which city did u take the exam?

I would like to take my PRM exam (at least the first one this year) and I have a question for those who took first level. The PRM handbook has a series of additional books for every chapter that complete the learning. Have you read that materials or did you limited yourself only to the handbook. Is it enough only to read from the handbook?

I was planning to give all four PRM exam in one shot. Is their a caluse of clearing exam partially. I mean if I clear 3 out of 4 will those 3 will be considered as cleared or I have to give all four once again.

I have jus completed my graduation. Taking a drop this yr to study for mba entrances...also doin a course in financial engg. & risk management....so i was plannin to take PRM....i hv read this entire post.
I'm plannin to take exam 2 first & then the others.
My question is that, I don't have any background in finance except the course which i'm doin now. So, for me will the material in the PRM Handbook is sufficient or would you suggest some other texts??
I hv read many posts where ppl were sayin that the material in the handbook is pretty complicated....so i'm a lil worried.

Thanx
which fin engg risk management course u talking abt ?
U can get it on esnips.....just search for it....its difficult to send it thru a mail...takes too long to upload...a huge file...around 20mb i think...
see i will just tell you what were my reasons for selecting prm. 1) i wnet thru the full course content of prm and frm, dint find anything less in prm compared to frm, rather i found the course much more better than frm. 2) people in india currently know more abt frm bcas its older compared to prm which was started in 2002, but globally the value is equal. 3) u can write prm any time you want 4) its much cheaper than frm 5) i have only given 1 test till now, i would say the level is tougher than frm
Hi Vicky,
First of all let me congratulate you for successfully passing 3 out of 4 exams of PRM. Its an achievement in intself. I went through all your posts on this thread and I observed that this thread largely covered preparation for PRM and the duration.
About me: I am an engineer(IT) with almost 21 months of total work ex. I am currently working in a Big 4 in Risk Advisory Services where my work revolves around conducting Internal Audits of various business process of industries. Highlighting the process gaps and recommendations to mitigated them, also, review of internal controls in the existing processes. I graduated in 2009 and have been working with Big 4 for over 16 months. Though my background is that of an IT engineer, I worked for only 5 months in a technology start up firm. The work I do is not at all realted to what i have had learned in engieering, but it definitely has a high learning curves given the exposure you get to various business process and how a company operates.
Having said that, I am currently exploring the options of pursuing professional certifications realted to finance/management accounting/business. The certifications that I have done research about are - CIMA and PRM.
CIMA - This related to management accounting and teaches you concepts of finance/business economics/business accounts etc. There is a entry level certificaiton that needs to be done, after which you are entitled a Certificate in Business Accounting ( mandatory for non accounting/non finance guys). There after, you are allowed to take the other 2 levels of exam. I am not sure about the fee structure for entry level i.e. Certification and the whole course and the dureation too..
PRM - I understand this course is more quantitative, more bank oriented (correct me if I am wrong) and has to be completed within 2 years. Can you shed some light on the syllabus of this course, the total fee structre and more importantly the jobs/insutries that are available after completion of this course. I am currentl in Risk Advisory Services and want to know how will completion of this certification help me grow in my current orgainsitaion and/or open doors for me in new organisations.
Maybe 2 years down the line I am planning for an MBA to complete my post graduation. But currently I am in a dilemma w.r.t pursuing a professional certification.
I would highly appreciate if you put your thoughts in detail for above querries.
