Hi Team,

Please find my profile details, I would like to know my chances of getting into top 20 schools come the fall of 2016. Also I would like to know what should be my target GMAT score for these schools according to my work experience and the career path that I am interested in.

Education: Integrated Dual degree IIT-BHU(2011)-6.7/10.

X-91.6%

XII-92.3%

GMAT:670(Q:50, V:29, AWA:5.5).

Work experience: Business Analyst in capital markets with 4 years(By June 2015) experience in Business, management and technology consulting. Subject matter expert in equity, equity derivatives and currency derivatives market segments. Also worked on commodities and commodity derivatives but not as extensively. Primary skills include requirements gathering, business analysis, working on sales pitches to customers and delivery of products to the stakeholders. I have worked primarily with stock exchanges and investment banks as a business consultant. I have been a lead of a team for 2 years so far. Other skills include extensive knowledge in development of testing frameworks and delivery of these frameworks. 1.5 years of experience in working directly with customers(1 year domestic and 6 months of international experience), I am expecting this to increase by the fall of 2016. I also have working knowledge of trade life cycle(front, middle and back office) and prime brokerage.

Professional and academic achievements: Gold star(given to employees with exceptional performance over a period of two years, in general 0.5% of the company in a year), Team order of merit to the team I led(given to the best team over a period of 6 months in the delivery center- chosen among approximately 80 teams), multiple quarterly and monthly awards for performance. I have received the CV Ramanujan district award for mathematical excellence, top ranker awards in school.

Sport and cultural achievements at college: Volley ball-Gold medal, silver medal at the college annual festival, 3rd place in the skit at the college annual cultural festival, winner of inter year, inter hostel and various other tournaments in college, won several sporting accolades in office. I have won sports, debate, elocution and quiz competitions in school and inter school competitions.

Organizing events at work and during college: I was an active member of the annual college sports festival organizing team during my time at IIT-BHU, I have organized table tennis and cricket tournaments at work. I have participated and organized events at the office along with an NGO for various social activities like teaching, painting and helping the kids. I have been captain of cricket and volley ball teams at my school.

Career path: I have strong experience in capital markets so according to me the stream that would best suit my experience would be finance - investment banking, stock exchanges and private equity, specifically in finance. Since I have a worked as consultant so far, I am not against doing consulting in the future but my reason for doing MBA is to get into more of a finance role rather than a consultant i.e: that is to have an inside and in depth knowledge of these aforementioned functions of the finance world.

I will get very good recommendations from the senior most people of my company(SVP, VP) hopefully that ticks at least one box but there is one box which kind of sucks real bad the great 6.7.

I am 26 now and I still think I have another year before the MBA and I also believe I can improve my operational skills still.

I hope this is not long as it took me quite some time to write this down. Appreciate your help on this.

Thanks and regards

Vikash

Hi! Requesting a profile evaluation and suggestions for future course as well 😃

I am currently at 2 years work ex in Corporate HR in a Fortune 500 company. I am planning to go for 2016 intake so that would make it 3 years. Profile includes strong leadership interaction, designing L&D and TM content, designing and rolling out new policies and initiatives. This builds up to a specialized HR Development experience (as opposed to HR Generalist).

I did my Bachelors in Psychology from DU coming at top of my class. Went on to my MS from UK, graduating with a distinction.

I am looking at a 1 or 2 year MBA to round off my 1 year HR focused MS and complete my profile. Also looking at an MBA to open up new avenues and widen my horizons in terms of my career. Aspirations are to continue in HR.

Any advice on GMAT score/ target unis/ target countries/ 1 yr vs 2 yr MBA (given that I have a specialized masters) is welcome. Many thanks!

Hi, I am planning for an MBA from abroad for 2016 intake.I will be taking my GMAT in July ,2015.I need some help with shortlisting the countries from where I can pursue my MBA. I am mainly looking for bschools which will offer MBA at lost cost and from where chances of obtaining scholarship are also high ..So, please help me to shortlist bschools based on the above criteria. Following is an outline of my profile:

Work Exp: 50 months  in an IT MNC

10std:74%

12std : 71%

B.tech CGPA: 7.81

Extracurricular activities: Dancing , painting swimming. working with an NGO.

Hello,

I need some advice regarding my profile. Also, please suggest possible colleges which I should be aiming at considering my profile and Work Experience. I just want to add that I plan to prepare for GMAT this year and write the exam sometime after 6-8 months.

My profile is as follows:

Work Exp: 50+ months in IT

Currently Working in Cognizant as an Associate for the past 4 years. Received star performer of the month reward. Have worked for a couple of years in challenging client side environments (in India itself).

BTech: Did it from an average college in Tamil Nadu

CGPA: 7.6

12th: 60

10th: 66

Extracurricular activities: Music (won best bassist award in a national competition held by Yamaha), Writing (have written lyrics for a music CD which we released as part of a project in College), Was the class representative in College, Won first prize in a national level paper presentation competition, Plus some certificates in sports events held in school.

What kind of a GMAT score should I be looking at? Also, as i am preparing for CAT already will my CAT preparation be enough for GMAT (planning to take up some online course for GMAT as well buy couple of books)? Will this preparation be enough?

Looking for an honest feedback about  my chances in good colleges in India as well as abroad. Considering colleges abroad which are not so expensive and which provide a chance of settling abroad.

Hey guys,

I was doing my B.Tech. in mechanical engineering and in the final year I got a job in an IT company. They asked me to join immediately so I took up the opportunity but I had couple of back papers left for my B.Tech. Later working in that company i decided to leave my mechanical degree cause it was not relevant to the field and do a distance degree in BCA parallelly  cause I wanted to stay in software field and it was not possible for me to take a long leave to go and complete my remaining papers.

Now my profile is 10th /12th/grad(BCA) : 87/74/71. and around 34 months exp.

Please tell your honest opinion on whether I can get a good MBA college through CAT after the degree drop out and a distance degree. Although I have a proper explanation. I need an honest opinion.

Thanks

Hello..!! I am Gopal Ram.Could you please help me with evaluating my profile for ISB. I also want to apply for few US schools like Tepper. I want to apply for ISB and other schools in R2.

I am working as IT Developer in one of the top US based company for the past two and half years.

Had recieved awards for my contribution to the organization on different levels.

In past two years i was involved in two biggest innovation projects in our domain. Infact i was the lead presenter for these projects apart from being in the core team in development.

I was also part of innovation group in our company and had organized and participated in the summit of the year 2014. I am looking forward to do the same in 2015.

When i was doing my undergraduation, worked as the president of college association consequtively for two years. There i had involved in various activities from organizing tech fests to rolling out different activities like seminars, quizes, paper presentations, project presentations etc

I had given nearly 6-7 presentations and had won prizes for the best presentations among them. Infact i love doing presentations or story telling. This interest had been in the core thoughts for me to choose marketing specialization.

I had done 4 projects in my UG among which 2 had won prizes at state level competations.

I had also acted as our school pupil leader. Infact i had tens of prizes in extra curriculars at school in drawing, essay competations, quizes, state level science tests. I was also into acting in School and college. Had written scripts and directed plays.

I wanted to see myself as part of core marketing group in product based tech firms like microsoft. Since i had done electrical engineering, I am also interested in marketing role in the energy market.

Please suggest should i be writing GMAT again since i am bit worried about it. May be 740?

Also suggest me which US Schools are good for my profile. which schools should i be targeting? Can i make it to Fuqua with this profile?
