Please tell me if we really do need to get the blue blazer to the institute? i am asking bcoz the orientation letter says "dress code:formal". It doesn't say anything about the blazer...plz a quick reply would help

well mate the deal is simple...... a laptop would be really handy especially during your "LAUNCH PAD" session.
I hope you guys have registered for the "Orientation programme and Materials", as this would be a must do.
the study material provided on the SIMS website is a MUST Read and do inculcate the habit of reading financial dailies...do it even if u can't make sense of the stuff. I all would come handy during the course. Trust ME on this.
SO getting a laptop would help u sail through the initial weeks...but as it happened in our case the institute post orientation got a COOL laptop deal in coordination with HP...well as for the Price Vs Config it was a steal...a business lappy for around 40K....so most of us having our own lappies felt a bit off..i guess we too should have waited( especially when my hard earned moola Rs 50K was now making no sense)
My take..rough it out during the "orientation session"..make use of the Comp Lab...and wait for the institute to strike a COOL lappy deal. As of when it would happen is a Question that can't be answered as of now.

Well fella we guys too had the same statement "Formal Dress Code" to be read as Gentlemen: Navy Blue Suit.
Ladies: Sarees( Plain and Sober shades...no great designer wear).
Although the institute would provide all u guys with an uniform ( Navy Blue Suits)...we do have a few events which all need to attend in Formals..the uniforms get done a bit later..say two months after u guys have joined.
So ATB fellas and hope to catch up when we get back after our Summer Internship..most of my batchmates..AKA ur seniors would be back by June 1st week.So guys enjoy the Orientation session and believe ME many of the things u would be asked to do would not make sense but it does have a Value which u would understand as soon as u start attending regular classes.

Well we had about 20 to 25 days of orientation. Now coming to the Grilling part......i guess some things are better not said or spoken about i feel let it remain a surprise (its not going to be a shock for sure!), but be rest assured that if you take it in the right spirit then it would be an experience you would cherish all your life.
And believe me when I say "the orientation" has taught many a b school grads the tricks of the trade of surviving the hectic life at a b school life.
So just relax and let things come as they come.....don't get too worried on the Orientation part.
What's more important is that you do your home work properly to be read as Study all the material provide and then once on campus just hold your fort and things would be right as rain.

hey ppl....i would like to have some clarifications regarding SIMS as i intend to apply this year
1) How is faculty both in house and visiting
2)How is infrastructure of the insti with regard to hostels and mess
3)How are the summer placements?( i feel they are very imp)
4)In terms on final placements does one get a lot of companies and profiles to choose from?
5)What is the general starting salary that one can expect post SIMS..i would prefer a median salary value rather than average salary.
6)I intend to specialize in marketing...is SIMS apt for it?
It would indeed be really helpful if the seniors or the any of the alumini could just reply to my questions as it will enable me to arrive at a correct decision.

wel the fees is around 3.6lac for the course... nd a score in 60s is gud enough to fetch u a call but every yr cut-off varies so just do ur best in snap....
hey guys.. looks like i'm starting off the november posting ;). anyway, my dad was with the army until '91.. since then he's been on his own and now has his business. pls let me know if it all still holds valid and i qualify as a dependant of an ex-army personnel? i've been working for the past 4 years and this is my 2nd attempt at the SNAP.. i did clear the earlier one, couldn't apply to the schools for some reason.. There is no general category in sims. 90% seats are for defence related and 10% for industry sponsored.

1> What should be the DD amount . 1200 or 1250 . I have downloaded the form from the site . It says 1200 only for DD+ 50 for courier . So what should be the final DD amount .
2> I got a call for GD-PI last year but could not attend it . Would that affect my admission process this year also .
