I couldnt agree more with bhabesh......nuthin against second rung instis but IIM will be the creme da la creme insti ...if u think u can u shud.....personal satisfaction counts a lot in life to be happy n content......
eka try to find parents views too .....it ll help....
"One bad outcome is that, the kind of contacts that you build during these 2 years will not be that good. The better the students are, the better chances that your friends will reach higher in the industry"
Hi Bhabesh,
I take offence with ur statement.
Get ur facts right before making any comment, not expected from sum1 who claims to belong to IIM fraternity.
SIMS of all Symbi institutes have the fastest growing alumni community. Only reason for this is our uniqueness, our disciplined and principled upbringigng and ofcourse the grooming we get at SIMS.
No denying the fact that IIMs are class apart, but that doesn't demean any other management institute. And i hope u will agree that the GAP is closing. Its the economy which decides ur position in market.
To the people who wish to drop one more year for IIM,
if you can crack CAT next year...
wat were u doing this year? If u cud not commit urself this year...
wat is the guarantee that u will suddenly commit urself next time?
Its ur career at stake, take ur call, take it right and fast cause the time is a very crucial factor.
All the best.
Regards
Leo

guys and gals
Well my funda in life
Be it any institute (baring the C's grades whom u are uheard off with no offences) ,its ur hardwork which makes ur placement easier or tough for u
WEll u will get all kinds of people everywhere ,people who are serious n wanna achieve smething ,people who think its masti li pastshala, people who are smart workers.
So it is YOU own self (Main in hindi) who decides where in life u wanna go for and and at waht time and rest is destiny ,well yes something is lost if u waste one year but hardwork pays
And morevoer its the Attitude and Smart work at D day matters rather than slogging and no one can guess how will he /she react to the CAT on that day.
Take calculated risks but be sure where u ll land up once the rocket goes offf...........
Any person dropping any insitute shud ensure to notice and weigh all pros and cons and then take decision after ensuring cons against were too many against pros.
HE came ,he fought and he conquered -thats what ALEXANDER's Life is all about
Take care

I would like to add further to it SIMS is not place for the guys who doesnt have confidence in it.
Guys I know ppl who passed out of IIMs and JBIMS and today they struggling proffesionally.
So relax it doesnt matter u pass out of IIMs LBS or HARVARD as long as your attitude towards life doesnt changes.
Institute wont give u anything but u have to take it from the institute.
SIMS is the place for those guys who belive in themselves and their decisions.
Rocky
And if u know thats not true , and if ur too egoistic to accept that....then whats the problem with giving another shot?
If u know ur worth some better college....why dont u proove it to urself and others by nailing a better college next year or if not....then u should definitely be able to clear sims next year too.
Then at least one can join...with mental peace.
@ freiden leibe: I wont take an important career decision just for the sake of parents. They'll be supportive of whatever i choose....even though they might want me to take up a college this year
Hi Bhabesh,
I take offence with ur statement.
Hi Leo,
I am sorry if I hurt you with my comments; I was just expressing my opinion. I am sure and also hope that some day SIMS would be one of the finest B-schools. But for that to happen we need to pay attention to what _eka_ i.e. ekalavya mentioned regarding reservation.
regards,
Bhabesh
See the problem is not with SIMS. The mere fact that SIMS is totally reserved for defence personnel and their wards is the problem. Taking up SIMS would be like agreeing to the fact that you are not worthy of getting into any other institution...and therfore have to settle for a institution offering 100% reservation.
And if u know thats not true , and if ur too egoistic to accept that....then whats the problem with giving another shot?
If u know ur worth some better college....why dont u proove it to urself and others by nailing a better college next year or if not....then u should definitely be able to clear sims next year too.

Dude tell me where it is not reserved for some people or not
N M-gujratis
JBIMS -CET
and SC and ST everywhrere

and u saying going to sims is like not worth f anything else?
Brains is required to clear cat and think harder
Hello friends,
One thing i can never understand is that people who think so highly of themself and who all the way knew that SIMS is a institute for dependents of defence personnel....
Why do u guys appear and apply for the institute?
How can u so happily kill someone else's chance and then walk away smiling?
Let me help u answer the first question..
.. It is because u r not confident and sure of urself... If ur mission is to get in the finest institute of India, then why to u hava a back up at first place..funny and silly it seems..
There is no harm in challenging urself again and again.. but if u want to get evrything in life with the TAG..high time u wake up from the dream world.
I would offer to end this discussion here because this thread is not meant for people to decide whether they want to join SIMS or not: it is for the queries of those who are now joining the institute.
After a break, we are back and will help running the show here with & for the upcoming batch of 2008.
We don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. But, also can't sit back while u guys discuss bout our institute's worth.
God bless you all.

Hi EKA
Sorry to again add to it
I really feel offensive when u said that if u r not capable of better.
Please b prudent in the statements u make.If u dont wanna join SIMS no probs its u r life and u r the right one to decide but its not fair to demean other souls.
rocky
Hi,
People how about calling it quits.....lets not have the useless argument anymore....
@EKA- Dude i really don't know whether i have the authority or not but as the thread starter i would certainly ask you to stop it right there.....I mean you were having trble taking a decision and we gave you advice.......check posts 754,757,758..and the one by raghav..I don't think there's anything more that anyone can add to it.....so its all upto to make the final decision....and pls dnt try to pass on to the therad ur confusions and insecurities........
If you feel SIMS is not worth enough dn't join it.....dont expect us to say that SIMS is not good......be bold enough to make your own decision and then stick to it.......and rightly said by LEO this is not a thread to help make pple decide if they want SIMS or not.......i think we've alrdy dne engh.......SO i ask you to stop posting remarks against SIMS.....
Rest of the guys.....lets be more mature than the few others......we don't need to prove to anyone that SIMS is good.....we know it and thats why we joing it.....we rae going to rock there and get amazing placements....................
So lets just stick to queries related to SIMS..........
peace
Akshay

hello frnds......good topic put up..great..
i agree wid "leo sir"..akshay...frieden...raghav..rocky..sahil....
- we applied to SIMS caz we know where it stands and wat importance it holds..right..!!
- its good that it gives privilege to students from defence background....it is an added advantage....
- so we r definitley very proud to be a part of it...
- those who dont wanna join it..i am sorry to say..but thats not the way to talk of SIMS...
- if u dont wanna join it...move on ...good luck..
- caz we ..the ones who joined it....did it with dedication & hardwork..
- and will give the best in future too...
- we r happy to be into a reputed institute like SIMS.... :-)
...OF SIMS....ON SIMS....FOR SIMS....BY SIMS....YIPPEEEE SIMS...!!!

and offcourse helping, guiding and discussing wid eachother ....
(PS:- therock_12..hope u got ur decisions right too...believe in urself...!!)
hope that all doubts are cleared and matter's settled....cool it off frnds..!!
hey my 1st post in this thread....i'm sorry if im askin a redundant question...but cud someone give me a figures for avg/median/highest sal recived for sims placement for this batch or of last year??????
Ha ha...my sincere apologies!!!
@ sharma: Congrats on being the thread starter
@ rocky: dude u were totally different when u pm'd me....sudden change eh?
@ others: ppl apply to colleges, not only because they want to get into it. They also apply because of parental pressure. Because they want to keep a particular college as a last resort. Ppl apply before the exam.....without knowing how u are going to perform in the paper. If u did well and just missed out on some better colleges - it doesn't mean ur life is over and that u have to take a 2nd rung college up.
yeah for ppl with a 50-70 in snap....good decision....u ought to be proud of urselves for studying immensely hard and converting this call.
yeah its pretty obvious, any1 will like to defend their college........especially those who are about to take it up.....no one likes to be told that its a bad decision.
sims has awesome infrastructure.......ive been in pune for the last 10 years.....and i've seen the construction of the building too.......was earlier housed in Symbiosis school - 15th lane - Bhandarkar rd.
my dad himself did a foreign trade course in SIMS in 2000.
One of my closest friends whom i've known since 5th std is also gonna take up sims....im not hounding him not to take it up.
but i dont get ur problem.....even earlier some seniors happened to take some offense to some stuff i'd said in my interview.
guess u guys like to make huge things out of lil ones.
Anyways, im signing off this thread....good luck to all of u and hope u get ur rocking placements.
Just ignore him people......as it is he signing off the thread so it doesn't even matter......
Its actually good that he will not be joinh SIMS cause we don't want people there who don't believe in the instt and will be constantly cribbing about it......spoiling everything for us.....
And ya what did he say.....u fill forms for last resort, parental pressure, not knowing how u will perform in the exam and stuff........well he surely has to be a kid is his parents don't let him make his own decisions.....last resort...wow....well i think he's mistaken wat a last resort means.....Last resort means an instt that would be on the bottom of your list but if you get admn there and no where else you will join it without any second thought......not an instt that you jst apply to,get admn and dnt join even if u make it there.........
and if someone's worked hard he knows that he will do well........If Eka didn't knw how he wld do in his exam i bet he's applied to every coll in the country........it just shows that he's not sure of himself.....and he thinking of giving CAT again.......
Ya but seriously hope that you do well..........just be a lot more sure.......
and ya i sensed mockery wen u said congrats at beiong the thread starter......incase u are reading this.....I took the initiative and got the SIMS community together....and its been useful to each one of us and i'm sure must have been useful to you too.....now jst cause u dnt wanna join SIMS anymore, gives you no right o spoil the very reason for which the thread ws started.........
Just one word of advice......look at yourself before you laugh at others........
With that....I am putting the whole issue to rest..........hopefully we will move on and have no more posts regarding the same..........
People please refrain to make comments about the quality of SIMS untill your statements are backed up by statistics...........please don't give your viewpoints or what you feel about the instt.............please try to keep it to queries you have and to get to know each other better..........................
peace
Akshay
purple_maverick Sayshey my 1st post in this thread....i'm sorry if im askin a redundant question...but cud someone give me a figures for avg/median/highest sal recived for sims placement for this batch or of last year??????
Hey the seniors would be in a much better postion to answer that...but jst telling you the stuff that I know.....
The avg salary was arnd 5.2 lacs.....the highest domestic being 8lacs and the internation about 10 lacs.........
and i believe that a fresher got the 8lac package........
hope it clears ur doubts
