Hey guys and gals,
I got the letter today and also sent the confirmation e-mail to the admissions e-mail id. Along with that I also asked some questions. Those were:
Is it required for us to come there for the payment of the fees or is it enough that we send it by courier/post?
How will the study material for the induction program be given? Should we collect it from there by hand or will it come by post?
Should all the certificates be given along with the fees or only at the time of admission? (ie) 2nd July.
When will the different companies be coming to the institute to give the offers for PC/Laptop?
I hope the questions asked were alright. And I think that the people who paid the fees will be able to answer some of these questions. Any comments?

Have an idea , on the yahoo group there is an option called Chat where everyone who is joining SIMS can login at one fixed time and we can have a online meet
Its simple ,non hassle and does not require any prep..
Peers ,please confirm the time when all we can meet online

Hey whats the panic fellows about SIMS not assisting in getting laptops......I see absolutely no reason for that...Even if SIMS doesn't provide assistance, is it that big a deal that you can't buy a laptop on your own.....we can always find out what confid will we be needing and then based on our own personal needs we can go to any shop and pick one that suits our budget.....Grow up people.....Everything will not be served for us on a plate.......
And anyways,having said that let me clarify what SIMS means when it says that they will not be providing any assistance to get Laptops.....what it means is that they are no way involved in any sort of transaction that happens between us and the representatives of the copmapnies like HP and IBM, who are either allowed to have stalls in or near the campus......all the dealings wil be happening between us and the company and SIMS is in no way involved.....
The companies obviuosly give some discounts to students who buy from their stalls in the campus but again SIMS is no way involved......
hope that I have made myself clear..........
And ya how about all the PG's here buy the PG t-shirt.......I have already ordered one for myself.......as it is i am on my way to becoming a hardcore pagal.......

Guys actually i had a diff picture in my mind about the lappy thingy.... i was under the impression tat insti's involvement helps us directly with the company.....arey stall reps ke saath toh negotiate hum kar hi sakte hain......then it doesnt matter
Info: I am doing reservation for Goa Expr for 29th and reaching on 30th eve have heard Sims have a guest house at 350/- per nite....so plannin to stay thr....seniors this is poss rite joining on 1st at 12pm....

Agreed fridien , i was too under the impression that Laptop buying will be helped by the Institute.
Wahts this sims guest house , i m not aware of it .do they allow u to stay there ??some more gyaan on this please??
Askhay ,Ayush - I was too thinking on the same lines of meeting Delhi people before joining sims , Dont know when it will materialise .

Guys i heard a very shocking news whch if true well is a very bad thng for us.
Apparently till last,batch every student could decide what to opt for aftr the first semester gt over.BUT it seems this time ,the SIMS administration has decided tht based on our first semester exam results we shall be given the stream MERIT wise!!
I m nt sure bt culd nybody please provide ny information regarding the same??
Anybody"s wrds of wisdom wuld be most appreciated!

@Akshay n others: Bro according to me wat essentially happens is dat wenevr a new batch joins, various laptop companies send in their quotations to da instii, after examining their quotations based d config's n price etc, they r shortlisted.Then based on d demand placed by d students in terms of d numbers required they give d discounts.Moreovr there is alwayz a base price, which itself is lower than d market.Its not sumthng lk them puttin up stalls n v negotiating n stuff...dats really hilarious!!!.
Going and buying a lappie frm outside is easy agreed,but d whole purpose of buyin 1 thru these ppl cumin 2 campus serves a lot of purposes lk:-
1.Prompt redressal of warranty n service realted issues.
2.Bundle offers n freebies due to large order volumes.
3.Uniformity wid peers, hence mkin compatibility issues simpler.
I guess dis mite put ur doubts to rest...??
