Okies guys have smthng more annoying here.......wats the deal about shifting few gals into the other hostel (AIT,AWWA) for lack of accomodation!!! i mean we all know how imp it is to stay in hostel while pursuing MBA for all obvious reasons ..... and thr are options available like 4 gals in room instead of 3 ....the questions only for 28 to 30 odd gals am sure they can be accomodated in the periphery of sims campus!!
I am also pretty bugged with the SIMS admin now. Just called them up, the operator connected me to the Guys hostel incharge, whoever he is. Anyway, he was like the accommodation is given on first come first serve basis. Like hello!!!! Couldnt you inform us that a little before!!
Have sent a mail to the director and the admin dept. Dont think I am gonna get a reply but anyway... think I'll tell dad to deal with them.
Otherwise I dont know, I ll just barge into the Director's office and threaten him of dire consequences!!!:2gunfire:

Issued in public interest---------- The following represents the writer's personal opinions and are also based on his interaction wth a SIMS SENIOR.Any resemblance to wat mght actually happen would be purely coincidental!!!! Last year the PRESENTATION was on GOOD TO GREAT. The BOOK REVIEW was on sme other book send along wth the material(FREAKONOMICS wasnt prt of the set last time). Rest all the material has been sent so that all the various people frm diff backgrounds are on a level playin field for eg. for an engg. like me going thru accounts and finance ,for smebdy nt good at numbers-maths,etc Offcourse KOTLER is a bible and the more u read it the better it is.
I dnt hve the patience to check if ths particular topic regarding materials and hw to go about it hs been touched or nt bt thought it mght be useful to a lot of people. Sorry to ruby for nt replyin cause no money tht day on my cell. Thnks to sonal for all the help she's given me all ths time. Frnds..yeah its a time for despair and unexpected shock for our parents and all of us..but lets be positive....and pray that everything is back to normall..!!l Like all of u have suggested..i too agree that...
Either 4-5 gals in one room ..caz for each one of us,staying within the campus is too essential..!!
Or as mentioned by u all...the more convinient option would be using a floor or some rooms of any other hostel or building within the campus..
Accomodating gals to the SIMS guest house is an option.
After all SIMS is an institute of repute..I am sure that they know the importance of doing "Residential MBA"..
They know that its essential that MBA is always done from within the campus only... They will not make any of their own students suffer. .!!!
I m sure the authorities out there will defintely make us very comfortable and keep all within the SIMS campus itself.. ..!!:)

First of all...I finished Freakonomics..its a great book..the author has written it wid..amazin research n statistics..U really got to read it to experience it...
I read the notes of Financial Accounting& Maths sent to us.They have been explained so well..it seems like someone is actually teaching u ..very interactive notes....too good..!! :bigups:
I am happy that I will grasp things better wid such great notes..!!

Today is the 7th...in another 23 days we shall all be meeting at SIMS..our home away from home for the next two years. I guess all of you like me would now be taking all the prep seriously,the laptop,the formals,the other ammenities and stuff....i knw its a lil boring but just get it over with people.... As for the study material...hmm.....seems like all you guys are way into it....i just started Freakonomics yesterday and hopefully shld be completing it by today....would have done that yesterday itself but had to go shopping n stuff..... Anyways abt freako...watever i have read till now...its a really intersting and informative book...The best part of the book is that its abstract,there is absolutely no theme around which the book has been written and that makes it stand out and gives it a totally new dimension. The highlight of the book is.....teachers and criminals and real estate agents may lie,and politicians,and even CIA analysts.But Numbers Don't..... This is a quote from the book itself..... Those who have read the book kindly share in your views about it...just a few lines about and and i am sure that the exchange of ideas plus the very thing the book stresses upon i.e. to see things differntly,will help us all to understand it better and write a better review on it..... Those who haven't please do read it..its really interesting and won't take much time to finish..once ur through kindly take part in the exercise.... well thats it from now.... Hey darlins I thoroughly enjoyed readin Freakonomics.The best thing about it was The Ku klux klan remember.?how the secret codes were let out on the childrens radio programmehe he I was just wondering how embarrassed the klan members would have been. Another interesting thing was the answer to the question why drug dealers still stay wid their mom?also where did all the criminals go?must say...damn interesting. Kotler even I feel is a bit heavy.At the end of reading lotsa pages I was like so what was this particular chapter exactly about???? & what was I reading all this while???And I was back to square one!!!!:crazyeye: After 2 chapters I left Kotler & started wid Good to great.will do Kotler once I finish wid Good to great.This one is good againmy kinda book So folks do let us know ur progresss . -Freako......well start to mid was pretty fine ..yea interesting u can say.......but boy i jus couldnt go further......... it had started to bore me .......so if gotta give review well i ll say 'INCENTIVES' is the word!
-Management insights.....this is basically review of various management related books....or can even say essay on 'em...... liked globalization, wat mangmnt is and straight from the gut well have read the buk and J Welch is an ideal so...obvio.... all in all a coooool read....
-Maths ....well its the 11th std course yar......and so pretty fine to me.....except of course permutn and combint from which i have run all my life.......didnt prepare in 11th nor college nor for MBA entrances and somehow it never stops following me!!! waaaah! wat love!!! sheeeeesh....
Will start 'gud to gr8' next hoping to enjoy it coz gotta make presentation on it! lets c.....Kotler ugh.....by the sound of u all doesnt luk too appealing wil give it a shot though........;)

U r not asked to learn wats written in kotler...u r also not expected to read the whole book...Kotler is bible for marketing...so if u understand evrything beforehand than ur already a master marketer..
I also also see queries regarding ppt nd reviews...number of slides and pages of review depends upon ur understanding of the topic..remember one thing...we know everything is available on net and it is too easy to cut..copy..paste, but advise u against this.. in all probabilities u will be marked on evrythng..and 2 guys having same review nd ppt doesn't help any1's cause.
Try to go through the material sent to u all..get accustomed to work odd hours..make frnds with powerpoint, MS word nd excel spredsheets...No other frnd can help u more than them..not now not ever..
As per some of u nt getting hostel...the administration is working overtime to fix the issue..it might take sum time but things will be sorted out for evry1's benefit's..show the eternal nd important trait of patience.
NJY the last few weeks at home.. Loads of hard (smart) work and awesome opportunities to showcase ur talent and attitude awaits u at SIMS.

Well folks..after finishing the 'Freakonomics' ...I am thru wid "Good to Great" too.... ...Its another great work of a great author.Lotsa detailed approach on Comapanies& their startegies of Success n SuperSuccess...has history of Performers and Thinkers..wonderful read again..!!
And I read thru the 'Management Insights'..a compilation of various management writers...lovely explaination and indepth details on wat management is and how it has grown over the years..
"Tata Steel "Case study..gives the picture of this Giant Organisation..!!
Maths..is something we have already done in school and during MBA Enterance Exam Preperations...so all can revise that..
Accounts..is new for me(me being an Engineer).....but nice to read the notes..rest more we will learn once in SIMS..!!

Overall ..whatever we have got in our Study Material..everything is a source of emmense knowledge..and learning...

I finished reading Freako and Good to Great. Freako was nice, but I cant say I enjoyed reading it. The first half was still good but after a while I got bored of it.
Good to Great was interesting. Didnt even realise when it got over. And all the steps that Collins has mentioned, do seem to make a lot of sense. If it wasnt for all the research and hardwork that he and his research team put in, I am sure I would have thought, "Ya right... easier said than done!" But I know thats not the case here.
Other than this, the TATA case study was good to read too. Which reminds me, does anyone know about the Esplanade Mansion, next to the Army Navy Building at Kala Ghoda in Bombay?? Well... Jamshetji Tata was denied access to the hotel there, in retaliation, he opened the Taj Mahal Palace at Gate-Way in 1903!! And now there is a big Westside store there too!!! Not bad!!!! :oha:
Maths notes I am a little worried about. Permutaions, Binomial Theoram, Sequence and series, all these chapters used to make me cry in school!!! I am donkey when it comes to these topics in maths. :puppydog:
