Thanks for the information.
So can we conclude that for both the programs every opportunity is same?
Though I have read the previous post, I was little skeptical about my conclusion.
Nishant could you site some shortcomings of spjain-schulich in comparison with the 2 year canada program?
Or do you think at reduced cost we will get everything same.
PS: I m excluding the factors of stay and teaching in India.
@ Garry - Hi, based on my experience when I was researching my b-schools .. there's primarily no shortcomings / advantages of either of th two programs - honetly. It solely depends on your career plans. I can give you the following key pointers as data points - decision again should depend based on what you're looking forward to from your MBA experience. I also assume you've read ALL the previous posts, as I have been responding to similar queries in more detail initially as well.
At all points of your consideration of the program be cognizant of the following points - to get the perspective / expectations right.
1) Consdier it always a Schulich MBA - if you're looking forward to some nuances of SP Jain in your learning - that wont be there much. Teaching styles / curriculum is all Schulich.
2) Be prepared for the rigor, multitasking and much more toil you need to put in as compared to the 20 months program. We're studying everything in 15 months what our peers do in 20 months.
3) The internship period would go down from 4 months (in the 20 months program) to 1.5 months in India Program. Please NOTE : Internship is not a mandatory part of the Schulich MBA. Students in main 20 months program sometimes, dont go for an internship and take courses during summer months. So that's your take again.
4) India MBA program gave me the exposure of both worlds - India and Canada. I feel while in a job you hardly get a holistic perspective of the India Business scenario - an MBA does give it to you while you're in India from Jan to June. Add on your one month Internship to it in India - all the more better. An internship in India helped me.
5) You would have to stay abreast about everything in Canada, while you're in India from Jan to June. Read Canadian press online, network with people there, network with seniors and alumni ... your job search starts when you land in Mumbai - dont wait until you land in Toronto.
6) CDC will be reaching out to you - both from India and Toronto Campus - while your india stay - however, the CDC sessions would be far more rigorous only once you're in Toronto. You need to fll that gap by your own due diligence, and reaching out to people.
7) In continuation of point 6 above, to fill the void I told above... all India MBA Students are assigned an official CDC mentor, Alumni Coach in India and and alumni coach in Canada... stay in touch with them, keep them posted all your moves , course selections, etc... - this is not available to Students in 20 months program.
Hope this helps.... all other points have been covered in my earlier posts.
Cheers
Nishant
