@ Moin / Ganesh
You may refer to Page 3 of this thread - 2nd or 3rd post from below. >> That will answer your query on accomodation.
Yes to some students 15K might seem too pricey - depends. I chose to stay of campus - a good company of like minded flat-mates was one big reason. Still i'd recommend weigh your options - traffic in mumbai near Andheri W is bad, so dont go more than 2 kms away from campus for accommodation.

Dear Nishant
I have received an offer letter for the Jan 2011 intake of the India MBA. So am officially a part of the program.
Thanks for answer all the queries in detail.
As asked , I tried to contact Nehal Adhikary but in vain, could you help introduce me to him as his help would be invaluable to me as he is also from the telecom industry.
The offer letter mentions that the on campus accommodation is for 15000 each month which sounds a bit too steep. Are there good rental apartment available close to the campus? Say in the Andheri W suburb itself.
Thanks
Moin
@ Moin
This is understandable. Its exam time here and this is the peak last week as the Fall Term is coming to an end, and all project presentations, reports , etc are due in the coming 2 weeks. You can wait for Nehal to come back to you, and try sending him a reminder seeking his time for quick a Skype call or something.

Nishith Parikh from Schulich MBA in India batch secured a placement offer from TD Bank Canada, for the role of Commercial Banking Associate.
Nishith is majoring in Finance, and holds 5 years of experience with Citibank and JP Morgan in Mumbai prior to Schulich.

Schulich MBA in India Program
Hi Nishant,
Can you tell me what are the post-MBA opportunities for people in marketing? I heard that marketing jobs are hard to come by for Indians in foreign countries. Is that true? Can you from your experience, how easy or difficult it is to secure a job in marketing in Canada? And has anyone from the current job secured a marketing job? Any updates on that front? I can see job offers for only finance :)
Thanks for your help and all the best with your exams.
Hello Yashita - Thanks a lot for your wishes.. ! ..
Heading straight to your queries...
When analyzing the MBA scenario in North America I'd always suggest take the holistic picture in perspective and then start connecting the dots w.r.t what each candidate brings to the table and what the market then has to offer. ... To exemplify with the help of your question:
As I'd always been stating jobs in Finance Companies do not necessarily mean that the job profile is in Finance too. Nishith is the first one who secured a Finance job, based on his rich experience in finance prior to Schulich. Otherwise Devesh who got placed with RBC is actually in an IT profile. Others placed with Deloitte are all into Technology and Strategy Consulting. Otherwise Deloitte is big in Accounting advisory and Audit.
JOBS IN MARKETING
If you plan a career switch through a North American MBA, then surely any stream is difficult - be it marketing or any other. For marketing the same holds true. Its just that we say that its tougher coz there's hardly anyone who's been into an active marketing profile prior to his MBA - most of us are from an Engineering / B.Commerce profile. If you do have a marketing background, your chances of getting through are as good as in any other stream. That's one.
Then, if you have prioir North American experience - again this holds true for any profile - then you further enhance your chances of securing a placement earlier.
Now, coming back to Marketing >>> none of the current Schulich India MBA students have been able to secure a job in Marketing thus far, for reasons stated above. However, there have been a few interview calls to them from PepsiCo (Marketing, Supply Chain roles) and P&G;(Marketing, HR roles).
Talk to Gaurav Pratap Singh and Manav Dutt from the Schulich Toronto MBA class. They have recently secured a placement with P&G.;
Hope that helps.

Full Time MBA - Schulich School of Business - India Program
Hello Nishant,
Can you tell me if there is any difference in course strcture of Strategic Field Study and Global Leadership Program between Schulich Toronto & Schulich India ?
As per the website, the description is same for both the courses. but GLP requires students to travel to partner school and hence the question.
Regards
Ayon
Every student at Schulich has to complete a Strategy Field Study project, to fulfill the total requirements of the program. We call it the '601 Project'. You will be a part of an 8-member team, comprising of candidates from both India and Toronto Campus. Teams are formed by students, through mutual consent / discussions on area of interest, etc. Each 601 team will have a faculty chair. Team members will then look for an actual firm in the Greater Toronto Area (Toronto and adjacent areas), and conduct a strategic analysis of the firm. This project spans over two full terms - Fall and Winter. Its kind of a real strategy consulting project that you do while at Schulich.
Following are the differences between the 601 and GLP:
- Not everyone can do a GLP. Once you're in Toronto, you apply for the GLP. Application involves an Essay, your GMAT score, your Year 1 academics and overall profile thus far.
- Students get together to form a 601 team; a GLP team is formed by the GLP Committee at Schulich.
- Schulich hunts for a client firm for GLP.
- GLP clients are based in Israel normally.
- GLP teams will be working with another team from a B-School in Isreal.
- You will be given the dates for travel, and there's no deviation from those dates / commitments
- GLP Projects start by late November, whereas 601 teams start working in early September itself
- GLP Projects end by mid / end of May 2012, whereas most 601 teams will finish their submission max by April end.
- There will be numerous 601 teams working with numerous firms. There are just 2-3 GLP teams every year.
- Guidelines for the GLP are Very Strictly laid down by the GLP committee - headed by Prof. Theodore Peridis - head of Strategy at Schulich, and all GLP projects are being closely watched by the school's management.
GLP is a very strong international exposure, and I suggest people to aim for it, if possible; just keep the above points in mind. Sagar Tawde and Vijender Trivedi from Schulich India MBA are part of GLP teams. Sagar will address you during your launch week in January.. so blast him with yours questions then:biggrin:
Cheers

I appreciate the question Ayon. No there's no difference in the structure of the 601 or GLP between Toronto and India programs.

Hi Please let me know how can I be part of this discussion .. I am an aspirant for next year applications. Would love to have some before hand experience about the seniors
Also what are the fees for the program. Could not find on the official site.
Does Schulich have a business/finance related programme for people with less than one year work experience? LBS and MIT have such programmes. If yes, can you provide the fees, placements, course structure details?

@ Anubis05
Thanks for writing in. I'm not too sure, coz this is basically the orientation week for the incoming students who're beginning their MBA at Schulich in Jan 2011.
Just write to [email protected] (Pallavi Vora), and [email protected] (Shweta Verma). They're in charge of organizing the Launch Week.
Strange that you dint find the fees there : it is about 47K Canadian Dollars for the whole program (batch graduating in 2011). This is the tuition fees... add some living expenses in India / Canada to it.
IIMaterial SaysDoes Schulich have a business/finance related programme for people with less than one year work experience? LBS and MIT have such programmes. If yes, can you provide the fees, placements, course structure details?
Sorry for the delayed response. I missed this query earlier.
Besides the main Full Time MBA program in India and Toronto, Schulich has International MBA (IMBA), Accelerated MBA programs, and the Executive MBA program with Kellogg. However, all of these require minimum 2 years of Full Time workex. Moreover, the Accelerated and Exec programs need min 5 and 10 years respectively.
As per my knowledge, the London School of Business has an MIM (Masters in Management) program, and not an MBA. True, people who have less experience can apply to that. I'm not aware about the MIT programs.
Hope that helps.
Best,
Nishant

Hi Nishant,
Is there any 10 years experience student in the schulich full -time MBA program. I am interested in the Strategic Management area and wanted to know what are the options in that field in terms of internship and/or jobs. Do you think it is worth applying for the program. Your insight will help. I am an IT professional.
Hi Nishanth,
Should we bring any original certificates like 10th,12th and transcripts to Mumbai?

Ganesh

The Kellogg-Schulich Exec MBA program should be like that, as per my understanding. You should check the Schulich Website for that. Classes happen on Fridays, Saturday and Sunday, and most of these execs work on other days. They fly-in for classes. You should write to the admissions office for more details, and ask them to connect you with some Alumni. You can also talk to the Alumni office directly. I have interacted with some of these Alumni and found all of them of awesome in their respective areas and thoughts.
Hope that helps.

@ Ganesh
I dont think you should carry originals with you. I carried 5-10 copies of each of these, and scanned all these to have a soft copy as well. You'd never need them throughout the Mumbai piece, but u never know.
