Hi everyone !
I am about to start my preparation for cat 2012 on my own (without the coaching classes
). I have the materails of CL and have thought of going for the CL Test series.
I am weak in DI. Need serious help
in that.
Follow the threads for RC http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/englis...at-2011-a.html (RC Discussion for CAT 2011) they are really good.
This is another link i came across while going throught the forums in PG
cat.wordpandit.com | Wordpandit's CAT site this also really good for VA.
All the best

its may ...is it right time to start with preparation or am i too late??
Hello Everyone,
I'm also preparing for CAT 2012 (without any coaching :)). Recently left my job and now concentrating solely on my preparations. I have started rubbing my hand on Quants for Testfunda as I feel its the weekest section on my list. (I'm week in all 3 sections though :D)
I will be following Testfunda basics + Arun Sharma (all 3 section) and then throughly solving questions from TIME materials. Also I'm planning to join AIMCAT series and CL test series. And I hope this will be enough to help me prepare.
But I'm still stuck in finding a right stratergy to gain momentum. If I start with a topic in quants then the whole is used up to complete it.
Can any of you guys please share your preparation stratergy.

You are not late..This is the right time to start preparation..
Hi,
Which test-series is good to enroll for? AIMCAT or CL?? I came to know that some of the AIMCATs all already over 😞 If I enroll now will I be losing much? Or I can have the access to those tests as well?

No, you definitely have access to all the tests, which you have missed or will miss in future !
And, i would suggest go for AIMCAT's !
Hey Puys,
I've basic learning material, question papers, handouts and relevant preparation material of couple of coaching institutes (I & my friend were preparing a year back) and intending to give it to the students who are really needing it hard and can't afford expensive coaching classes. Only such ppl who are currently in Pune, please pm me. :)
All the best !!
Hi guys,
I am also preparing for CAT,XAT etc without any classroom coaching. But I will be appearing the online mock tests. If any of you have any useful info regarding CAT preparation ,any useful online materials, please share.
hello everyone,i am also doing self-prepration,for quant i am going through arihant, and for verbal i am using testfunda wordlist, but can anyone tell me from where i should prepare for grammar and does cat holds lot of questions on grammar??
Hey Puys,
I am also in the same league that you all are currently into..
I am employed and also I intend to appear for CAT 2012. This would be my second attempt. CAT 2010 was my first shot.
The challenge this time, as you all might be experiencing, is to manage work and preparation, at one go. I am still in the process to find myself stable in this.
Wishing all the very best of luck.
Regards,
Preeti

Nice to see this thread. I took the CAT in 2007 without any coaching. It is absolutely do-able.
Firstly, the most important thing is motivation and self-discipline. You should ensure that you make a timetable and stick to it.
Secondly, don't be anti-coaching. Join some test series of 1 or 2 reputed coaching centres as it will help you know your standing among the general pool of test takers. I don't know how it works now but when I took the CAT, after each test, the coaching faculty used to take us through the questions and solve them. It helped in learning some tricks. Also, I analyzed each section for 2 hours after any test, found out where and why I made mistakes and what could have been a possible shortcut for correct questions.
Finally, always be on the look-out for freebies. For example, halfway thru the preparation season, CL had an offer that if we buy the remaining (5) tests, they would throw in 2 workshops for each section. That was a nice deal. Also, many institutes have such free 'sampling' classes and workshops. Attend them.
Hope this helped and all the best!
Same here... but i'm confused what to start off with ?? QA or LR or VA or DI ??

Grammar is a section that deals with basics. U need to work out on the basics first and then put them into usage.
Further, CAT doesn't ask direct questions on Grammar. Where Grammar is likely to come into picture, depends upon the kind of question put to front.
Gud luck !

Hi, i think GMAT type grammar and GRE type word list cannot be done by any student... but manhattan for grammer common errors(seld study book in pdf which will take maxiamum of 1 week to finish) and few words daily will definitely give you much much edge... After that i dont think any preperation is needed as reading comprehension is one's own ability... and can be improved only by practice... but grammar and words can be acquired by knowledge and books...
