1. How much time are we given for the extempore?? 5 mins is like toooo long.!
2. Are there some hotels around the place where the pickup is arranged from?
my interview is on 8th and i'll be reaching tomorrow morning..
1. 5 mins is the time allotted to this particular endeavour... but you dont have to speak for 5 mins entirely... whatever you are comfortable with as long as you make sense and the panelists feel you are doing justice to the process..
2. no there are no hotels near Symbiosis Society, S.B.Road... you will have to make arrangements accordingly nearby for your own convenience..

1) Do all the marksheets and certificate photocopies need to be attested?
2) I'll be reaching the campus directly so by what time am I suppose to reach?
1) if you are carrying originals then it is not necessary... in case of photocopies you do need to attest each one individually..
2) if your's is the morning slot, then make sure you reach by 8:30 am
in case of afternoon slot.. reach by 12:30 pm

SIBM-P GE/PI experience
6th Feb,12.30pm
Reached the campus on my own.(* ha ha.. ab sochoge.. "kitna badha kaam kiya hai?" 😛 :P)
The seniors were extremely helpful.Special Thanks to my Group Coordinator:Sagar.
Group E(3YE3).. the 3rd letter is your group no. and the last digit is ur individual no in that particular group.
Verification started at 12.40. got done by 1:20.
Then was shown an A/V clip.. 4m d movie.. Frost/Nixon released in 2008..regarding the Watergate Scandal.
The topic was then given.."Evrythn the President does,is not illegal",a dialogue from the clip.
Then we were taken to our GD room..GD was on for about 15mins. Not a fish market at al.. a very calm process.
Got in the gd wd 3points.Overall a very calm GD.
5mins break.
2nd GD.. d topic based.."are Indians good at working in teams?"
This was a bit more chaotic where we showed v can b a team but when fyting out for dose coveted final calls..even d best of us tend to get rowdy.
kept my calm.. got in wd 3 points again.
Feedback from the panel.. Good Discussion.. asked us to rate ourselves as a team.. all of us were unanimous at 6/10... to whch they replied.. so now u r team on instinct 
Den no.1 and no.2 were asked to stay bak for PI.. while the rst of us.. went for lunch.. i was no.3.. so cudnt eat properly 
PI was about 18mins for me.. d previous 2 were approx 20-22mins.. not more dan dt.. rough estimation..

Work Ex - 12Months
Extremely smooth process. The ART Team does a great job, right from the Bus Pickup at SB Road. After the Document Verification ( Get Originals of everything), comes the AV Round, You are shown a video and then given a problem statement which needs to be Discussed in A GD of about 10mins. We had to discuss essential qualities of a leader agreeing and adding to the points that were spoken in the video. ( It was a speech by Narayana Murthy)
Then we had a GD on " FDI in Retail:Boon or Bane" for about 15mins. 8 members in the group so ample time in both to chip in with your points.
First in for the PI (A1 was my id) ( Panel different from the GD)
Two Member panel. One a Marketing Guy other a Bomaby High Court Judge!!)
Extremely chilled out and pleasant. Had an extended discussion on the political scenario in India. They especially focussed on the Why MBA part. They just see how long can you stick to your guns, then Some Basic general Awarness Questions relating to Economics. This was followed by A Case Discussion, where i ( as a GM) had to present possible scenarios to them ( Board of directors)/ The PI ended with them asking me about my family and telling me to narrate 2 of the lamest jokes i know! :P
The Extempore was " Women Make Better Politicians than men". Got lucky here, ( The Panelists also smiled) Spoke for about 2.5 - 3mins when they asked me stop.
The PI lasted for 30mins. Extremely satisfied with the process and my performance too. But dunno what to make of such an Interview.
PS - You do get food and coffee and the Group Co-ordinators are helpful. It does get really hot in the Afternoon.

seniors were very very helpful.. guided at every step.. literally in my case.. when i asked my Grp coordinator abt washroom.. instead of telling me the directions.. he came along with me.. waited outside till i was done... and escorted me back to my seat.. tht was really strange bt wonderful experience:cheers:

I reached the venue with the help of transport provided by SIBM-P.
There were only 3 girls in my bus and around 10 for the whole day .
We were taken into an auditorium where we had to sit along with our groups. 3rd letter from your Group ID is your Group.
Each group is assigned a Group Coordinator who will be there to help you with any kind of questions.
Next Certificate verification was done. We need to show all the original certificates along with 1 Photo ID Proof.
*If you do not have an experience certificate, please carry your appointment letter and latest payslip.
After verification, we were given a break of 10-15mins, followed by presentation by the ART(Aspire Relations Team).
1. Audio-Visual Round
A clipping of Mr Narayana Murthy's speech on LEADERSHIP was shown and was asked a question for which we had to discuss later. It was common for all but each group was directed to a different room with different panels.
Question was "Do you agree with Mr. Murthy's speech? Would you like to attribute anything else to it?"
Our places were pre-decided according to our nos - the last digit of your Group ID is your no in the group.
We had a cool discussion and the panel was impressed. Given a time of about 15-20 mins and at the end all of us were asked to give a couple of concluding points each.
2. Group Discussion
Same group with same panel in the same room. After a short break of 2mins, we were given the topic - "Was India's World Cup Victory a Flash in the Pan?".
This discussion also was calm and all of us contributed equally. Got a chance to speak for 4-5times :)
We were all directed to a common room where we sat along with our groups. Breakfast was provided here.
3. Personal Inerview
Each of the group member was called one after the other according to our group no.
PI panel was different from that of GD. There were 2 learned and knowledgeable men who interviewed me. It started with the discussion about my name followed by my region. Some questions on the current issue running in my region and my opinion about it was asked. And then about my parents and family. One question related to my Engg Background:sneaky: and the rest was about hobbies. I screwed up here.:banghead: I was trying o explain what I knew what the right answer but the panel didn't seem to be satisfied.:splat:
The panel was quite friendly. While one of them was questioning me, the other kept reading my profile and annexure and was listening to me.
And then I was asked about cooking and it was over.
4. Extempore
I was asked to pick up a chit from a bowl and the topic was "Why this kolevari di?".:drinking: Since I was not satisfied with my interview, I wasn't able to think about about this topic. From my expressions, the panel offered me o pick another one. This time, it was "Are new economic policies reaching the poor?". I took a deep breath and by now I was fine. I spoke for about 4-5mins and I guess I made it. The panel seemed interested with the points I made.
Overall : Very well organised and a great experience.
The location and the campus and the people were really great.:cheers:

There is a hotel Sahara (near Mariott hotel) on S.B. Road from where u can travel to the pickup point in an auto in 5 mins. Min cost (non ac room) 1200 for single occupancy 1400 for dual occupancy. It is also at a 5 min walking distance from the SCMHRD pickup point.
And in extempore, interesting analysis and appropriate conclusion is more important than trying to make it 5 mins long.
OK so here goes my experience for my FIRST B School Interview. SIBM PUNE
Venue:SIBM Pune
Slot: 1200 hrs
Venue:Well once you get to Pune its not much of a problem.I got there with a friend of mine and she dropped me off at the SIBM University campus near passport office.From here there were buses to take us to the campus in LAVALE. Well the campus is pretty big but is pretty secluded. Immediately you realize the importance of your own vehicle here. We were taken to an auditorium by the seniors.
Document verification: This is the first part of the process. You are made to sit according to your groups (may be to get to know each other and strategize) and are also introduced to your co-ordinator.Our GC was very helpful and co operative answering all kinds of questions from us. The Document verification is an easy process no Problems here just make a point to take the original documents there. They dont require or check any Xeroxes.
Process Starts
GE1 (Audio visual clip)
In the auditorium itself we were shown an AV from the movie FROST-NIXON with the infamous interview.When the president does it, Its not illegal. The topic was the same. We were then escorted to the respective GD halls.
Now for the AV discussion. We already had made intensions clear that we wont make it a fishmarket.But then came the surprise. A fresher from Chennai (99.23 in CAT) had come late and had not gelled with the rest of us.Now starts the Discussion and the guy just blasts off like its his IIM A interview. Going hammer and tongs at everyone and cutting off everyone. The panelists stopped him twice and asked him to keep quite till others finish their point and then make his own. The guy was going after everyone. A small fish market followed. But overall it was below average.SIBM GDs are supposed to be calm. Ours was far from it. Then everyone had to summarize the discussion.
GE 2(Group Discussion)
The GD followed immediately after this in front of the same interview panel. The topic was Fortune is at the bottom of the pyramid. Same group same people same story. The GD was similar everyones point was at some point or the other cut by that one guy. But I guess its Ok cant blame him. Then everyone was asked to summarize and leave.
PIs
The thing about PIs in SIBM is that they are supposed to be easy and relaxed. I was pretty hungry now and was waiting to have something. But being 2nd in the group I had to go immediately to the PIs.The first person went in and I had to wait outside accompanied by a beautiful co coordinator .She was a fresher and had just passed out of college. She told me that the panel is of 2 members. First a guy from Marketing and second from HR. I went in for the interview with all the confidence I had to crack it. The following is the interview.
P1: Probably marketing guy (Looked a lot like Bharat who takes MP in Mumbai University)
P2: Bald but seemingly friendly
They welcomed me and asked me to sit. They apparently had the SIBM form which was filled initially as well as the Annexure.
P1:Well you are from Agnels ???
Me:Yes, the vashi one.
P2: (Looking at my annexure and the first question why and MBA). Tell me what skills you are going to get after an MBA that you dont have now.
Me: (Was caught a bit off guard). Gyan. About handling pressure situations and other my people skills.
P2: Stress handling?? (Looks at the other professor). I dont thing we have that subject here.
Me: ???????? !@@##$$
P1:Ok you told about stress and pressures. But you handle it already. What more are you going to learn.
Me: Some gyan.
P1:You are not being specific. Please specify some subjects that you think will be useful for you.
Me: Same gyan.
P1: (Looking unsatisfied). Ok name me 10 subjects that you think you are going to learn here. Not the specializations but the subjects.
Me:Well sir I went through the website and the subjects but dont remember the names .
P1:You are leaving a well settled job and going for something you dont know about.
Me: L
P1:Ok tell me why is MBA that important to you.
Me:Gyan. And eventually want to float my own venture.
P1:But most CEOs dont have an MBA. Steve Jobs, Bill gates dont have it
Me:Yes, but there is only 1 Steve jobs and 1 bill gates.
P1: (Frowns). Ok tell me names of entrepreneurs who have an MBA.Name 10.
Me: (Ohhh SHIT). Named some from Rashmi Bansals Book.2/3.
P1: Something about my company, revenue , clients etc.
Me: Told
P1:take a chit from the bowl.(Extempore )
Me: (Topic was Lying is sometimes OK). Gave all kinds of gyan from Mathma Gandhi to Anna Hazare. Finally they asked me to stop
P1:Ok thats enough
P2.Yes nothing from my side too.
Me: Thank You !!! (leaves).
Well the interview was not a piece of cake for me. They grilled me on the Why an MBA part. They were pretty tough on the work Ex guys.
Freshers in general had it easy.
In general dont know whats in store for me. Screwed it up pretty bad. Lets see waiting for 21st Feb.

Me had my interview too on 6th afteroon....the gd topics have already been told in the experiences above....my extempore topic was "west india is more developed than east india"....some important pointers i would like to share for thoe who still have their GD-PI's left:
1. More often than not, the GD is going to be a fish market....you will get sufficient time to think and write down ur points...just remember to STICK TO THE TOPIC....i noticed..those people who were speaking excessively, started talking nonsense soon enough...its THEN that u jump in and try to steer the group back to the topic (ofcourse u'll do it after u've participated initially and thrown in a few good points)..doing that alone will be enuf to highlight you :-),
2. PI- only one advice...introspect HARD..esp for work ex ppl...THINK OVER "WHY's" AND "WORK EX'S" REALLY DEEP...that will make ur interview unique...and make u stand out from the crowd. The panelists are not following any pattern of asking questions as such and so can ask you pretty much anything under the sun....in my group they even asked a girl to show them some dance moves!!!

For 12:30 slot the process will get over by 5... The bus starts at 5:30 for Pune city... you will reach SB road by 6:15... so plan accordingly...
