SIIB Admissions 2008 HelpDesk

dude i have got a query !

I completed my bachelors (full time) in june 2005 whereas i was supposed to complete my degree in june 2004. The problem was i got jaundice so had to clear my back logs in the next year.So obviously i didnt clear the exams in one sitting rite.So plz clarify if i should refrain myself from applying to the institute

And morever i have a gap year too.

cheers
shyam

Hi..

I wud suggest tht u cal up SIIB office and get the clarification. U have a reason whch luks genuine on the face of it and if i take ur case thn some part of the case might be left out whch can be harmful for u..

But b4 tht my friend, whch year are u talkn abt? If u had jaundice in 2nd or 3rd year thn u have easily cleared ur papers by the end of 8th sem. I believe each college gives one chance immediately after the result of the semester and thn in subsequent semesters...

N if the gap year b/w u completing ur degree and u appearing for SNAP is not due to non completion of ur graduation exams, thn ur still eligible..

Cal up the office and talk to the Registrar, Mr Avinash Shitole

take the case of a student who clears his/her graduation in 12 semesters.... but attends the college regularly... just somehow not able to complete his/her graduation within the Stipulated time

"I'll get my degree on TIME,no matter how long it takes" student....

a student who sat at home for an year..... for personal reasons....

Options

1) Both are eligible
2) None are eligible
3) 1 student only
4) 2 student only
5) U may clarify indication sub-clauses

This is for my personal clarification and for the junta's benefit

Hello

Everyone needs to understand tht gettn into a premier B-school like SIIB is not easy. Quoting figures, u have arnd 65 general seats and arnd 30000 candidates apply for the same.

Gettn admission is nt easy and it takes a consistent performance and aptitude to get thru..

Nw coming to ur query.. I have partly understud it so i wil try to ans best to my understanding...

I am myself an engineer and can surely say tht if a student is attending "lectures" regularly thn flunking to an extent tht it takes 12 semesters instead of 8 is impossible. Going to college and not attending lectures is seperate issue.

Ur statement "I'll get my degree on TIME,no matter how long it takes" is itself a contradicting statement. If ur gettn ur degree on time, thn it wil take 8 semesters.. I u want to ask smthn else, clarify.

Sittn at home during the course of ur graduation for one full year is smthn whch is nt acceptable. There might be even cases of some personal loses bt if a person is taking one full year to get of tht, thn it shows lack of mental toughness. MBA is just a step to a corporate world where one has to show the toughness and abilities at each and every step.

Sittn at home after ur graduation for year due to any can be accepted bt thn again justification has to be given. It wont make u non eligible bt make it tough to get thru...

Still if some doubt remains, shoot ur query. Just one request, plz be specific abt the cases.

thnx for the explanation.....

by quoting 12 semesters i meant that's generally the maximum time given by the university to complete one's graduation....

a student completing in 9/10/11/12 semesters.... is eligible or not.... for some reason whatsoever he/she could not complete the graduation on TIME... are they eligible... not to mention they sat in one or more papers more than once....

also gap of one semester on medical grounds is acceptable??

thnx for the insights n sorry for shooting ambiguous questions.....

but this surely will benefit JUNTA!!!!

P.S. I do not find the rule of one sitting in MBA-AB course... Are the rules mentioned over and above that for MBA-IB

Hi...

The acceptance of medical reasons or not is not known to me. I wud ask everybdy falln under this category to call up SIIB office and get the clarification. But at the same time a non appearance due to medical reasons in 4th sem or 5th sem shudnt result in an extension to 9 semesters because of sufficient time in between..

N the one sittn eligibilty criteria is both for ABM and IB courses.

The Group Test would evaluate the soft skills required in a managerial position and the written communication would evaluate the ability to write concisely & coherently.

Final Selection:
The final selection of students will be based on the performance in Phase I and
Phase II.

The weightage will be as follows:

Abt the prep, i hope u r talkn abt the final push..

Do tests, nt more than 3 a week.. analyse in gr8 depth.. ideally speakn gud analysis shud take equal time as giving the test..

If u gp thru the paper pattern u wil find tht 60 marks are for LR and 40 marks for GK. So out 0f 180 quite a substantial weightage to sections whch u dn find in other entrances.. Work on these areas..

It has been generally a kind of speed test so dn try too many tough questions... Get ur fundas rt.. Dn leave grey areas cos tht area might turn out to be the easiest..

I hope this wil help

All the Best

Hi....

U have gud acads... Extra cirriculars are substantial only if they are at certain level... city, state or above....

Symbiosis name is indeed a gud thng to have in ur CV..

The ratio of freshers to wrk ex changes year on year and the trend is showing a shifht towards ppl with work-ex with more than 1 year of work ex.. Bt thn, this is with every B school nw a days.. Being a fresher makes ur job tough bt nt impossible..

Job as of nw is nt a prob provided u prove ur mettle.. 100% placements are there.. Companies from various sectors visit the campus including consultancy . U can visit Welcome to SIIB for more details on various aspects of the college...

International profiles are also offered bt tht doesnt necessarily mean gettn a posting abroad frm day 1...

Fee for ur batch wil be somewhere arnd 4.8 lakhs for 2 years inclusive of hostel and mess fees

I hope tht ans ur queries

Hey I have been helping my uncle from my 3rd year engg days.

But I joined my uncle after completing my engg. Actually he was bedridden and I took the entire care. I helped my uncle more than a year. Do I need to get any ceritificate of proof from my uncle that i worked with him..??

By june 2008 i'll be 1yr exp in this s/w company. Will it be enough ??

Can i claim the exp of both...??

Ofcourse I understand both are completely different.

Pls let me know ...

I believe there are few guidlines as to wht is considered as a work ex and wht is not.

Workn while studyn is not a part of it. Only the time aftr ur engineering wil be counted as work ex. N even for tht u have to produce a signed work ex certificate on the company's letterhead

hello...i read that 15% of the seats are management seats...i wanna know how exactly does one apply through this quota? do you need to go through someone or is the cut-off little lower & fee is higher and so on?
