Yes 46 out of 90 has rejected the offer of SIIB the only possible reason may be the placement. There is NO source from where we can get crystal clear detail about placement.
I was waiting 63 And now I m waiting 17. I have already paid the fees for FORE .school Delhi. And i am not sure about taking admision in SIIB. Every thing depends about PLACEMENT detal od SIIB. So, please people from PUNE atleast find out the real placement figures........

PUNIT

hi fellow siibians and prospective ones
well i have seen some concerns being raised on this forum regarding siib
first there were some doubts raised about only 50% people opting for the institute from the first list,if u take that into perspective and compare that with the attrition rates of institutes lke a nm,tapmi or say fore we usually find about 30 to40% opting out, what we need to take into account is the no. of people who constitute this 30 to 40%, 30%of 150(that is the no. of seats institutes generally have on an average) is 45,that is bout the same no. of people opting out of siib.
a second factor can be the specalisation, not everyone wants to specalise in IB.
frankly i rate sib in the same category as the institutes mentioned above, then its ur take what u want to specialse in.
secondly placements(obviously that is a prime factor and more often than not deciding one in our choice of institutes).
ok i believe packages are often deceptive and what really matters is the kind of companies and your takehome sals.
on both these counts siib fares well and am sure as good as other instiutes mentioned above.
the name symbiosis ensures that market leaders from each sector turn up.itc ,wipro,o&m;,jp morgan, hdfc to name a few.
as far as packages and take homes(domestic) are concerned an average package of 4.2 was offered, with average takehomes ranging between 25k to 35k,the highest being 40k and minimum being 18k.
there were few foreign offers as well.
i personally feel these figures are comparable with most good b schools, barring ur iims, mdis or nitie and likewise.
moreover siib is secondbest inst. providing a course in ib the best obvously being
iift.
theres a lot of scope in ths field and i have a strong convicton siib is going to do alot better in the years to come.its the students who make an institution and i am sure we all together would add value to it.

hi friends!!!!

Hi Eshikha and Niraj,

Nice to know about people before actually meeting in the college . Is it not ?

Since you people are sure enough to join SIIB so let us discuss your views about international business ...... people say that it is always better to go for general MBA rather than any specific one like IB , Agri or Rural .......

In a very crude way we may say that in the time of LPG and Free market IB has a very great future.....

what do you people think ?

Bye ......

hi ajay,

the MPIB course is very similar to any regular MBA course. if u look at the subjects being taught to us, u'll realise it. infact, SIIB is trying to shed their IB image (thats the reason they changed their name from SIFT to SIIB). They insist that they are not teaching anything different but just trying to equip their students with skills which can help them float in the international market.

BTW, do we need to carry our desktop/laptop with us? is the campus wi-fi?

hi there,

for the statement that u have put forth i can only say that anyone who will get thru scm or may be iit will not leave that for anything like siib. that does not mean that the prob is with the placement.
i have been to the college, n have talked to students there, the reply was gud about it n they even say that the placement was 100% this time around. though cud not get all the placement details as the placement office was closed.
meanwhile, i have myself cleared the waitlist and am going to join this course.
as for siib and the ib coures not much of a diff from genral management, just that a lil focus on ib is included which is going to be benificial in time to come. have also got thru nirma, but dont consider now nirma with its falling market to be a gud choice over siib.

so guys lets rock the place...
hope to see u all there.
preeti.

hey preeti and all of those who have decided to join SIIB.
good for you all ,good decision yours !!!!!!! ,my personal view is that SIIB is one place worth going,as for the views posted abt SIIB lemme tell you that these final selections are jst the beginning it is now in the course of the next couple of years that ur gonna make or break it so what ever or where ever you guys i jst wish tht most of u prove the point of not taking upo SIIB for the right reasons. :sly:

i myself am one of those who rejected the offer but the reasons are not related to a "good/bad" college it is abt the area of interest, and SIIB would offer a good avenue to those interested in this field(IB).

ATB to all you guys............

Hi Niraj,

I talked to one of the staff of SIIB ,she was telling that there is no net facility in the hostel however computer lab remains open till 11 pm and it is very near to hostel.

Most of the students purchase laptop or pc ...as such no compulsion.......

bye bye

hi..niraj....laptop is not compulsary, but having one's own Pc is definately beneficial...n more over i ahve got confirmed that net facility is available round d clock in the college lab..so no problem as such..

moreove..rising indian FOrex reserves n its implementation clearly shows that IB is in Demand, whether one perceives it or not..

n yes special Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii to APM, dn't mind but r u one person or two ofthem...

guys any more news on the witing list..
arlier mine was 70..any chances/

i wonder if we don't have net facility outside the labs then wats the point in purhasing copm/laptop. anyway, it can be decided later. as of now any info on placements is welcomed.
