U know buddy, sumtyms in lyf, Shit Happens!! So kick away ur fear, ur doubts and ur anxiety...giv it ur all and 2012 is gonna be YOUR season. Trust me, stress and fear will pull u down...think positive...dream of ABC everyday so that even if u miss, u fall in to NITIE, MDI or NM..
All the best :)
Its not about the top 10 or top 40...A gap needs to be explained. Its not a negative if u utilize the gap properly. When they ask u at the interview dat eaht did u do in the gap year, a answer that u were sitting at home preparing for CAT will definitely create a negative impression. But if u are involved in sumthng productive thru dat period, it will give u a big plus duing ur PI..
PS: Its Dhiresh, not Dinesh.
sry for that dhiresh !! but except job what can create a positive impression in PI ? i have worked in my family business nothing else 😞

No need to b sorry for anythng..nd in fact working in a business is a great way to create an impression...but dey wud lyk to know wat u DID for the business. Maybe like expanding ur business, or bettering the operations side or anything like dat would be a great thing to flaunt.
I have a year gap after XIIth, messed up pretty bad could have joined IP University. Is this gap going to screw up my chances of making to IIM C, XLRI or FMS? Working in TCS(7 months), don't know whether to target CAT 2012 or 2013 to make up for earlier sins and gain some experience and knowledge on the way.
PS:Knowledge of the field in which i am interested in doing MBA.

First of all, the gap you are bothered about, it is the case with many, not just you. So shed the fear about the gap, you can justify it saying clearly that you were aiming to prepare for engineering entrance exams(if that's the case).
Regarding which year you aim for CAT, I would say from personal experience, the sooner the better. Even if you want to aim CAT13 but then there is no harm to prepare hard for CAT12 and gain some experience.
Rest, have faith in yourself, you will do good provided you are trying with the core of your heart. ATB 😃

U can leave this job, fine but u need to justify the ~1yr gap in ur resume to the interview panel. If u join some NGO or nythng lyk dat, dey will ask u y u did dat. Mere cat preps as a reason wont satisfy them. Also more importantly, what if u again miss next yr? Think wat u wud do in that case? IMO, u shudn't leave the job until and unless u have satisfactory answers to these questions.
i have been placed in tech mahindra....m from 2011 batch elecronics n communication....n my joining is in april...m afraid that this is gonna impose wrong impression about me?though in these months i did two courses in french..level 1 and level 2....please some help me out here
My advice to all the MBA enthusiasts. Forget about the garbage called MBA and just keep working if you are already in a job. What do you mean by "I don't like what I am doing."? Nobody likes Work. That's why it is called 'Work'.
What I have learned from my MBA is that actually MBA is not needed. No MBA adds anything significant to you or your personality. I have seen most people from **** and other colleges who invested 13 lacs on the program and are now working for 15 k per month in finance BPOs. Thankfully I did not commit such a mistake and did my degree from an inexpensive college.
What you gain in any decent corporate environment is far more worth than an MBA from any school outside the IIMs and the next 5 ranked colleges. If you miss out on the first 15 ranked colleges, forget about MBA in India.
Even for people with experience, an MBA does not matter really. In any organization, the more higher you go, the less specific work becomes and more horizontal you focus on, which ultimately means that you are into management!
If it's about having that tag just for the heck of it, any one year online executive program will do. No need to sacrifice job and waste 2 years for it.

Man just because you werent able to get into a good MBA programme doesnt make it worthless.
hey puys please help My profile goes like this:- 10th:-Looser 12th:-Looser Grads:-Top of the moon Work Ex:- Fell from the moon.It was a fatal accident
Now i fired two bombs at cat but they both blasted on me..Now should i try for IIM's or should i think beyond the IIM's now (mentioned on my status).. I think i failed both the times because i was aiming too low. M i correct??????????Can anyone suggest the best institutes that can prepare me for that prestigious insti.Already engrossed in the thoughts of Laptop, foreign trip, global exposure. what else can i do to get into it where most intellectual brains compete..
Hope i brought smiles on some faces with my tragic story...

I never tried to get into an IIM, for a fact. I never gave CAT either. I always wanted to work but the year I passed out of the engg college is the worst in the history. Instead of wasting time, I decided to study in a tier 3 school and the experienced busted many myths about MBA.

if u haven't gave CAT. then how can you comment about anything regarding it.there are colleges apart fro top 15.you said about placements so let me clear you there are people who placed with 50-60k from the institute, If you haven't been into a b-school then how the hell can you bust any myth. P.S. Don't post anything weird here. Cause CAT is sacred for us. Don't be a iconoclast. try for getting into a good b-school until you get it.. and if you don't have patience then don't demoralize others..
My profile goes as follows - 10th - 80 % 12th - 74% B.E. - 61%
I passed out in december 2009.
Started to look out for my core electrical engineering job , but hardly got anything positive ! Then thought of trying for a good MBA , and started to prepare for CAT 2010 from july 2010. But my bad luck , CAT 2010 blasted on me , juss got 25%ile .. still wonder how was that possible !!!
Meanwhile got a job as an SEO ( search engine optimiser ) trainee in may 2011. But couldn't continue because of some personal issued wid gf...
Then again thought of trying for CAT 2011 one last tym ....
I got 69.34 %ile ... still surprised at this low score , but was satisfied to some extent tht it was unlike last year's disaster !
I have applied for NIT calicut and durgapur.
But again thinkin to get some job and prepare for some more better college !!!
WHAT DO U THINK I SHOULD DO ???
Are placements at NIT calicut and durgapur upto satisfactory ( nearly 100 % ) ???

I HAVE GOT BORED OF SITTING IDLE !!!
Hi maichel, My personal opinion to your situation is start looking for a job....and keep taking CAT if u want to go for a gud institute... Taking a job will give u work ex and it'll add up to ur profile also...
Moreover, sitting idle is never a gud option as the B-school people wants a justification from your side during PIs... Regarding the colleges and their placements, I have no idea.. Hope other puys will reply soon to ur query..

bt dude... My problem is that ... As of now , i''m not gettin any of my profille related jobs. Odawise i dun have any problems doing a job... :(
hi.... i am btech (electrical) 2012 passout with 80 % career... i gave GATE & hopefull of getting admission in one of the NIT's after scoring 95 %ile in GATE.... i am at a dilema .... actually i want to be in a corporate sector but most of the NIT's have hardly any placements for mtech guys... so can i join MBA after MTECH ???? will i face any problem during placement time bcoz interviewer will grill me y i was doing mba after mtech ?
option 1) join any NIT's across the country & then i plan to do MBA(power management) from UPES / NPTI after completing my MTECH in power system..... is my decision justified or am i being a fool ???
option 2 ) Is to drop one more year SITTING IDLE AT HOME 😛 & prepare next year to get into IIT's which have very gud campus placement for mtech thereby loosing one precious year & also there is no gurantee bcoz IIT cutoff goes around 99 %ile in gate ...
