After reading the above posts i too felt to write this one.. Like any normal kid i too aspire for ambitious life.. I am independent since my childhood n my family supported me for my interests.. I screwed my life in SSC exams by scoring very less marks. Al my dreams got shattered widin no time. somehow i managed to get admission in gud college but i was upset from my heart. I promised myself to score gud in HSC n tuk my studies seriously.. n i was immensely happy to score well.. In my first n second yr of degree i worked part time cos of some financial problems..... i scored 1st class in Bcom n dan serach for job.. i wasted my 2 months in search of job n finaly i landed in some accounts related job wid very low packages.. I ws not satisfied wid my job cos its not my interests.. i thot dat working somewhr wud b better dan sitting at home wid no wrk.. I had went thru many criticisms for doing things as i want.. But one thing i dint stopped is dreaming... I started searching for ways to progress n in dat process i made many friends who guided me for my career.. I got enough knowledge for my field n started applying for jobs... After 9 months i left my job n i got gud opportunity in marketing firm.... I was happy wid package n comfortable working in gud atmosphere... Now i want to pursue MBA for my career growth.... I got to learn in dose 9 months dat dun get defeated n try to learn from ur past mistakes.. Very importantly have faith in urself wich will give u a power to fight back... Stay dreaming guys....

@hanvi Giving GMAT as a fresher won't be of any help to you. Try getting some work-ex before taking GMAT. Though you could use the scores for 2 years but then I don't see much benefit in giving GMAT as a fresher.
@hanvi Quality work-ex in any domain or industry would do. Colleges which generally accepts GMAT scores are very particular about the applicant's profile and other details. You you need to have a quality work-ex and good profile to make it to the top B-schools.

@hanvi No, work ex is not mandatory for SNAP and IIFT. I think you should also consider this program from Harvard Business School www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/2+2...
I graduated dis year (Industrial and Production engineering) from a gud private college . I didnt sit for the placements in IT companies as I was expecting a placement in a core company but the placements were very poor dis year and in d end i didnt get placed anywhere. I am planning to write cat 2013 but I am worried that if I wont find a job the 2 years gap will kill my chances in top 30 bschools. What to do should I take any job that comes my way and how much does the type of work-ex matters during the interview, Also I am planning to write CFA level 1 exam, if I clear it ..is it a gud option to justify my gap. Please help me guys m really worried.

1. I would suggest you take whatever job that comes your way. In that way, you can skip from the 2 year Gap.
2. Type of work-ex does matter a bit but the thing that matters even more is how you answer the questions related to your work-ex in the Interviews. So it is important that you should be efficient at your work place and be thorough about what all you do, about your firm, etc.
3. If you clear CFA Exam, that would def be a good thing to justify the gap.

Thank you so much sir,
can you pls tell me that how much will it affect if dont work in discipline I majored in .for eg if I am an IP engineer working in an IT firm.
and also sir are my previous academic records gud enough for top 30 b schools.
abhipro89 - taking a gap for CFA isnt that advisable, as it might seem to you. in the finance industry, it is viewed in the "not so good to do" spirits. CFA when done with a job, is what the industry considers appropriate.
this forum has people from the industry helping you out on your queries, its a good way to clear your doubts about the exam and the way the industry interprets such qualifications. just a word of caution, people in the forum are not to welcome to vague posts, so research it well, before you put one.
