HOW can I justify change in profile?????
You need to show your Interest in the Profile. You can tell them that you have studied subjects related to software in your school and college and it interests you a lot and that you always performed good in these subjects.
But also keep in mind that if you don't have even little interest in the job, don't go for it. Because you won't be happy doing job there. You can keep preparing for CAT 2013.
I would also suggest you to give this year's XAT/SNAP and Feb CMAT as well. If you can make it to a B-School this year only, I don't think it would be a bad option.
just browsing through the forum, fortunately landed here. I completed mca in 2011 with java specialisation. Since then looking for a job in IT. Getting calls from BPO, IT Recruiter etc.....But my heart choice is programming in IT field..So learned Core Java, Advanced Java.Thought to learn FrameWorks once i get a job.But Its almost 2012 ending...still no sign of any job. Also wrote govt. exams in parallel and made through IBPS PO1 . But simple mistakes in IBPS application form made me to write IBPS PO2. Currently Idle...If I start learning frame works now it will take another 3.5 months to complete the whole course.. or is it good option to opt any non it job?... Worried about its career. Any advice. highly appreciated.
@sandy73 Since your heart is in the IT field, am sure you will do superbly in IT job but since now you are sitting idle, i would suggest you to go for a non-it job, give it a shot. There must be some job which you can consider over the other, though it is non IT..because whatever work experience you gain will in some way or the other help you in your career. And yes, you can always switch over to an IT Job of your dreams whenever such an opportunity comes in your way.
Good day! I am Baljeet Singh from New Delhi.I graduated in 2012 from Delhi University as a B.Com (Honrs.) graduate and have been preparing for my CAT and CA-IPCC exams all this while. But as of now none of the two exams have gone/prepared for too well. Chances of passing or scoring well are not favourable.
I scored 96.58 %ile in MAT Sep 12 , but am not interested in any colleges offering admission through MAT.
I am in a dilemma whether to take up a job and start working, or keep giving my examinations.
Job offered to us graduates is an Audit analyst or a Financial Analyst with salaries ranging from 12-20K p.m. I have put forward my request and resume to some people I know who work in reputed banks.
It takes close to 4 years to complete CA if one does clear all the exams in one attempt, if not then it keeps extending by 6 months on each stage. I do not want to risk that much time and my future.
MBA-if I get into top IIMs or FMS, then only will pursue. otherwise will keep giving CAT while I work. I have to take a education loan for my P.G. and it would not be wise to risk Rs. 12-13 lakhs (Principle + interest) with mediocre colleges/institutes.
I need your suggestions.
Academic Record - Xth - 83% XIIth - 82% Graduation - B.Com (H) - 54.45% MAT Sep 2012 - 96.58 %ile CAT 2012 - Result awaited IPCC Nov 2012 - Appearing.
@yesiwill I will tell you a little secret - Truth is stranger than fiction - your case is classic. just get good cat marks and you will sail through GD/PI. I just hope you have proof of everything you just said :)
This is arpit here. I am a b.tech student(from a not so reputed college) who is done with the finals but is left with few back papers. So this year has already got wasted. Currently no job.Given cat this year but hoping not more than 70% Now I'm planning to give cat exam again. So I have to give a drop year again. I want to ask that if I do a distance learning course along with Cat preparation, then will the distance learning program overshadow my gap year or will it be added to my gap year?????
@technoarpit Just doing SOME distance learning program for the sake of hiding a year of gap is not going to help I think. Even if you do it in some relevant/interested areas it is not going to add much value to your profile. Only full time college/school education is considered. So I would suggest, not to worry about year gap now. Your acads are strong (except for grad). Try doing some certifications, doing some small job etc. during the next 1 year when you're preparing for CAT 2013.
Is it possible to get admission to a Top tier 20-30 bschool with a 2 year gap and profile as follows :
10th : 71% 12th : 64% grad : 58.5% (BCA) work exp : no NC-OBC girl candidate
has people converted top bschool calls with such a profile in recent years... If NOT then what are the possible ways of building up a career after such a loss...
NC OBC Girl candidate = Potential Jackpot for the Future B-School.
The grad score might be a bummer though.
anyting below 60 for anyone is a probable sin - unless ofcourse there is a OBC/SC/ST rule that I dont know of, which reduces the bachelor cut-offs.
also it will be incredibly hard for her to get through good companies that come to campus even if she went to IIM-A. This is the bigger problem - which may not seem like one right now.

@DEVILISHANGEL So whats her chances for New IIMs, FMS, IIFT, IMTG, IRMA, and all those top 20-30 colleges even after having a 2 year gap and no work experience. Has anyone with that background been able to crack into these bschools ???
I have done BE in Electrical and Electronics in 2011 but i m not having job due to no campus placements in my colege. Now i want to do mba from top b schools and currently working with my father's retail shop as i m not having job. I want to know that this kind of work experience counts in mba college or not? Or should i leave preparing for CAT and continue to my father business?
