Yes, I forgot that. I had checked that table that some months back.. In other words it means that IIMU considers 3 years of work-ex as optimum.

hello all,

This is Rish (24 M), i did my B.E mech Engg from a reputed Engineering college, got a job with Hyundai and have currently 2yrs W.E. I am all fascinated, excited to do an MBA in Operations & Information sytem (pertaining to the job) for a lot of Obvious reasons.

Streamlined Canada and a list of universities in canada that offer my course , am all ready fro giving the GMAT (pretty sure of a 670 +).

But the real hitch is which season to choose.

Either join Jan 2014 for a 2 years MBA or Ausust2014 intake for 1 year MBA (will be having 3+ experience by the time i choose the latter)

I cannot extend my MBA studies farther than that due to personal reasons.(even got permission from my GF only till 2015 end).

Kindly provide me with the pros and cons of choosing 2014 Jan (2yrs) & 2014 sep (1yr)

Grad Extc Engg: 64.00% (Due to a kt in 7sem and the only kt earned a Pass Class) Graduated 2012
Since he was not interested in IT, stayed at home to prepare for CAT but got mere 82 percentile but at the same time was working as a private tutor.
He is depressed wishes to give CAT again, but 1 more year of private tutor job will prove a problem, right ?
During interview and summer placements he will be considerd as jobless for 2 years. Please need some advice, he is in real mess !!!!!!!!

Tell him to try and get a job as fast as possible. And this doesn't include working as a private tutor. If he can't get it, tell him to accept whichever bschool he gets this time.

Why did you leave job to prepare for CAT? People work in MNCs and prepare for MBA exams all the time. So that even if they fail, they can get back to their job and try again next year.

Try and secure a job first. Any type. Accept it. And then see if you can take the MBA path.

Hi guys.. I completed my grads in July 2012. Took CAT with 2 months of prep n got 89%ile. Now I'm thinking of dropping this year n prepare for the IIM's again. Do you think this 1 and a half year gap will be a problem in the interviews? Or should I join some certificate courses or other to explain this gap to them? Please help guys.. What should I do now?

Why don't you try and secure a job first? Preparing for the IIMs and actually making into an IIM is very different. What if you don't get your desired bshcool even after loads of hard work you put in this time? Even if you get a call from a good bschool you'll face lot of questions regarding the gap as many people work and prepare for MBA exams side by side.

@banu2312 I don't want to do a job as I really want to prepare well for the CAT. Can I do something else, which is productive n covers up my gap? Say, some courses or something educational? I couldn't just tell the interviewers that I had been preparing only.

Well if you are hell bent on sitting for a year, then I'd suggest work for an NGO on weekends, or learn a language. But keep in mind that these things can well take your mind off the MBA preparation track. Take an informed decision before jumping onto anything.

And ask yourself this question, what is the plan B, if you miss out on the bschools next time?

I researched about the IGNOU one. It seems good. You can go ahead with that if you want.
