I know this is my dilemma ....Please guide me how to improve..i am ready to slog now..no matter what....

Please guide me what job should i look for i dont want to join my home business..:shock:


in dat case, go for a job asap. And abt those two years, see u cant roll back the time. so the only thing u can do there is justify ur gap by giving them ur reasons nd hope for the panel to be accommodating.

in dat case go for ny job in d finance sector lyk banks or sumthng...ppl wid commerce background might be able to give u a better idea...

completed B.tech in 2011 and joined tcs in july and at present basking on bench

CAT 2010 - 96.17 %ile calls 0 ( applied only for IIMs :banghead: )

scores say m not going to any college this year also.

Actually...........B.tech 2011 passout Ec ...placed frm cllg in CORe company in GOA....basically hails frm north india .....left the job after 5 months in DEC now want to apper for CAT 2012 .........can i join a engg... College as a LECturer so tht my year does not luk lik i hav droped it...........or i hav a call from my friends Event managment company registered but not hav tht much brand name.........i hav interest in Event managment also.............so as my final goal is to CRACK the written then MBA interview....which work will suit me best to justify...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!please revert ASAp..as i hav to join i 1-2 daays

currently an engineering student in the branch Applied Physics. I was wondering, where exactly can I apply for Summer training/internship.
Firstly are these 2 things Training and Internship the same thing?
Secondly is it branch specific?

The area where I am living has a lot of car dealerships so I was wondering if I can ask them for training or internship? Do car agency have any program or anything like that where I can do my summer training/intern or do I need to ask from company offices?

The teach for India date had been to 15 th feb.i.e. today. In case you want to register you can still to do and all the information is available on their site,clearly!

Well, I would say Event Management is a better option for two reasons...

1. You get a first hand experience at management which can be projected in various ways when you get B school calls.
2. You are interested in it...

By working as a lecturer in an engg college, you would be restricting your knowledge to technical stuff alone. Thus, event management is a better option in my opinion.

Well, you can use your khaali time for CAT preparation 😃

Anyway apart from that, try to build up your profile. If you are interested in finance, try to appear for CFA exams. You can also go for 6 sigma certifications as well. These will help you once you get into a B School, during summer internship placement process.

Try to get yourself involved in some NGO activities which would again help you in crafting a diverse profile.

Cultivate a hobby or two, and gain a strong and in-depth knowledge in any activity which interests you.....

2011 btech passout... gt placed in KPO ... but didnt joined ...i thouht i wd get into my core field/software field as i like programming.... bt i didnt know the scenario of offcampus jobs.. almost nil opportunities ....

earlier in 2010 i gave cat just beciuse frnds were giving... without much prep. ...nd got 98.51%ile ... but hd applied to none of the colgs... so no calls.... in 2011 i again took CAT thot MBA as a backup plan if no job etc.... thi time gt 96 %ile ... apllied to most of colgs...

but during last few mnths i feel so depressed sitting home doing nothing.... dnt knw abt future... dnt knw abt MBA....

Why MBA?? this question haunts me... my only reason is money... i dont knw if i wd be able to perform in GD/PI ...

still in dilemma of getting something in technical field.... dnt knw wt to do... 😞

Its about going after your happiness..whatever it may be..(Log MBA jyada Salary k liye hi karte hai...managerial job and Commercial skills blah blah sab bakwaas hai..agar managers ki salary jyada na ho to dekho MBAs me dropouts ki ginti)
Try to analyze yourself,your interest,what excites u,what matters for you the most...
what is the thing that u would love doing if awaken at 3 in the night.
Go after it!!!!
Never get disheartened..believe me,there are many who have a life much much worse than urs and do not even have the resources to change them...so bring up all your courage and go after ur dreams.
and try wasting ur time for them!!!

Hey by ur scores it seems ur really an intelligent guy.....after getting such awesome %ile y didnt u apply fr any coll?ok leave that....now also its not late who knows ur fate will pull u to IIMs getting such awesome %ile is not a cup of tea fr many ppl....u have dat capability den go fr it....if u get a gud coll ur depression really goes off and u will frget wat happened in d past....so dnt waste ur talent go and give cat once more .....this time give after prepration who knows u will see urself standing bold with a score card having %ile where top institutes would approach u....so best of luck my friend

thanku Sun shine , but most of the top colgs except few consider acads. nd my acads r nt that gud... nd also i thought mba as a backup plan nd even if i gt into a gud colg i'll miss not being into an engg. field...

Hello Puys!!
Came across the right thread at the right time!
Going through the most confusing phase of my life.. Would be an engg graduate in 2 months..screwed CAT this time.. faired decent in IIFT and SNAP .. So feel should give it another chance!
But I am in a dilemma that should I just take a drop and prepare or I should move out of my town, join somewhere and then prepare simultaneously..
I am a COmp Sci engg but have no intentions at all to join an IT firm..
i can try my hands on business analysis or some consultancy firm..
But then I think that those 4-5 months will be the most crucial one to prepare and i'll have to join anew job.so maybe i won't be that focused..
another option is joining some NGO..but i fear that it will change my career path completely...though it will just be part time but it's said that once u enter a field u end up being in the same..Another thing is Teach for India fellowship .. but it's of 2 yrs duration so am dubious whether to go for it or not..I also have option of ICICI fellowship..it's of 15 months..
You guys can see the level of confusion in me!! :banghead:
I would like to seek for your opinion on choosing among--> Drop and appear CAT12/ Go for a job gain an exp of 1-2 yrs/ join NGO "get some real experience" and then go for CAT this year or a year or 2 later????

Well SAP is a good option....Certification is good but have many disadvantages...
