I got my tickets booked for Mangla Exp for 4th about 8-10 days back and got a 26 waiting number. Hopefully will get through here too. Hi Prahlad, good to hear that some one from M.I.T, Manipal has made to SIOM, I am also a MITian passed out in 2004 (E&E;). Hope to c u in SIOM Soon. Hv u confirm ur seat by paying there 1st installemnt fees, if yes how did u manage, from bank loan or personal.Because i am facing problem for bank loan as they required that the institute muts be A.I.C.T.E approved, and unfortunately SIOM is not. Hello all Siom'ites, i was introduced to pagal guy by robin hood (aniruddha ganguly) when i met him at nasik during gd/interview. finally we both made it to final list. aniruddha i lost my cell on anothr visit to triumbakeshwar in nasik and with that, all contacts, gimme ur no. at [email protected] or directly sms me.
It took me near about 2.5 hrs to read through all the posts of this thread as well as of life@ siom. and at the end of it, i cant prevent my fingers from contributing to posts related to siom.
First of all about myself:- my name is Mohit Sharma : . i did my Mech engg from Govt. Engg. College Jabalpur in 2004. Till now i was working in a bpo in pune since last 6 months and was prep. was ntrance exams. i got 86 marks in SNAP.
I have been carefully reading all the threads as i have to do a lot of catching up work. i dunno why this remarkable forum (PG)remained unknown to me although i too am decently internet savvy mba aspirant. its only today that i decided to visit this site and it truly was a revelation, more so when it contained such an active thread about my would-be mba institute. So ppl, i read innumerable talks about eligibility criterion, suspicions and scepticisms about SIOM, worthy - not worthy to join, sap, infrastructure, placements etc.............
I want to say something abt this.
i believe that all the talk about the brand-value and the image-in-the-market is all crap. Any institute, company or even a nation is only as good as its people. Image of any institue is what the image of its ppl. the ppl entering it and the zeal that they have is what matters.
EVEN THE IIM'S WOULD HAVE HAD THEIR FIRST YEAR OF OPERATIONS WOULDNT THEY? today their students are regarded with respect only becoz they have proved their mettle over time. And if u go by the column "What they dont teach u at B-schools " wich is carried by "THE STRATEGIST" (the tuesday suppliment and also a magazine from BUSINESS-STANDARD stable) that carries articles mostly written by ex-iim grads, u would get an idea as to they too feel that the curriculum at THE IIM's is also not flawless.
A bad thing wich i noticed was that a lot of negative speculation happens over here. thanks god after the merit list is out, all those "clouds" have been vanished. AND reddy and others have replied:grab: to all of them with a precision of a surgeon's scalpel . (i also met reddy when i went to siom to deposit my dd).
What i m saying is that have a positive attitude, do UR part sincerely and everything WILL fall in place. Am not MAKING CASTLES IN THIN AIR. dont keep ur expectation touching the sky , also not look down upon it. be realistic. let me quote legendary CEO Jack WELCH HERE WHO SAYS " Miracles dont happen in real life." one has to go through the matter to resolve it and improve the situation. ALL IT TAKES IS ONE BIG NEWS EMANATING OUT OF THE INSTITUE TO MAKE IT GRAB HEADLINES. The media already hunts for such news these days and devours it hungrily. AND going by the first yr summer placement trends, we r doing pretty well.....
well before its gets too long and u ppl get bored and disillusioned with my very first post, let me conclude. guys its all upto us now. how high we take it from here depends entirly on us. lets decide to teach our first cousins of better known symbi's a lesson this time. pull up ur socks, clench ur teeth pals and resolve to get good placements for all of us in 2k8. all of this sure after we join on 5th june. till then enjoy the success........

Then wat bout all the Pvt Instt who hav already completed the admission process n students hav already paid the fees also--e.g All the symbi Instt(about 7-, NMIMS, Welingkar, K J SOmaiya
