anu sir... tapmi is not "probably in top 20"... it can be rated overall as top 14th or 15th... courtesy our dear prateek sir... so make tht top 15... though placement wise i wont be rating it tht high... tht wd be in probably top 20
talking abt placements, I'd like to tell all sth tht I came to know frm a TAPMI student passing out this year. TAPMI placements are 4.6 lp.a. CTC this yr. And this is so because Tapmi guys do not consider performance-based incentives into consideration fr calculating the avg. salary, while all the other B-schools do. I talked to students frm both IMI n Tapmi and the avg. salary in hand is equal fr the places(around 25-26k per month), even though IMI quotes a lot higher 5.2l p.a. and yes, this yr Tapmi has had a lot better placements than last yr, which shows its increasing influence...and quite a few guys hv been given higher job-profiles)

Yes u r bang on with that analysis...while the figures arrived at wld vary a tad here and a tad there, the fact is that TAPMI does not consider performance based incentives while quoting the salaries in the final placements....which, like u said, is done so by other institutes. It is not too difficult to understand why the rest do that, is it ?!?! After all higher sals quoted means better image created for prospective candidates the next time around!
sad i say how mgmt education these days has become more of a business and less of a value addition ( just look at the number of insitutes that offer an MBA/PGDM course these days!!! )....and thats where Tapmi differs, with all due respect to the other institutes. Tapmi believes in long term goals, not short term ones.....and so do Tapmians.
Add me in the W list. As far as I know only 3 or 4 from PGites are waitlisted. This is the first time that Tapmi has come out with a waitlist. Let us keep our fingers crossed. As they have not given nmumbers I have a faint hope that all the waitlisted candidates will get final admission in the second list. Hope.. Hope.. Hope..
Karthik
With a little bit of patience and a bit of programming I found this about the waiting list. For the initial 1500 forms about 13 were wait listed. And if I am not mistaken there were about 16000 forms sold by TAPMI. Hope the law of averages don't hold true here or else we will have more than 140 people who have been waitlisted. Check this out.... and please excuse me if I am mistaken somewhere.

U've done a great work in guessing the number of WL candidates. Hats off for UR efforts. But as I was hoping that WL candidates will be very less, your info made me unsure whether I have a real chance. It would have been better if they had indicated an order of merit! ANyway, still we can hope to make it. ATB to you Mac.
i'm prithvi balachandran from kerala. i too am in the waiting list at tapmi. 3 of my friends have gotten through (rxn, harry and arun) hey mac. if you have some time to spare, then do find out how many WL guys are there totally. that would be a really BIG help. the office told me that the final list would be out only on 31st march . that extends the wait by a few more days...:whatthat:sigh! pv
I have been literally swinging like a pendulum regarding my decision on tapmi vs satyam. I am a final yr mech engg grad and have bare minimum knowledge on what I can expect out of a software job in satyam. I would appreciate if u guys (esp software engg.guys) could give me some info for the same. Also i would like to know ur personal say on software job(fresher) vs mba(tapmi like inst)
