Other way is that u serve 20 days notice , then take leave without pay for next 70 days, then come back for one day and resign. You do not need to pay any amount in this case. But your boss and HR should agree to this kind of arrangement.
Note : No company can force you to continue, when you want to leave. The bounded labor concept is history :). So even if u have to give one day notice period, give it and leave. Of course u will require work ex certificate , so u have to follow the procedures of the company and be in good book of HR and boss. But do not miss chance to get admission in any of the premiere b school, just beboz your boss will chide you on giving such a less notice period.

Last year i faced same situation.
Answer : It depends upon you wait listed number. People will get offer for final admission as per their wait list number. People will be asked wether they are accepting the offer or not ? You will be given window of 4-5 days to accept or reject the offer. (This window will again depend upon , when u have received the mail.) For example, if your wait list number was too high and you were the one of the last person to get offer for final admission, you will get very less time to decide.
Once you reply to that mail, you will have to send the first installment by a fixed date as mentioned in offer letter.
A advice to all students : Suppose even if your name doesn't appear in wait list, still keep checking. Last year it happened, that many people thought they are out of race as their name didn't appear even in waiting list. But due to last minute cancellation of admission of some students, other who were in 2nd wait list got call. We have people here who lost all hope of admission, and went on travelling for soul searching 😃 and after some days randomly checked their email on airport and found final admission mail. And the day they checked their mail, that was the last day to reply to accept/reject the offer.
I had to resign just on 25 days notice , although the notice period was 2 months in my company. In our time we had to pay around 1.13 lakh as first part for first installment withing one week or ten days (don't remember exactly).
Note : This not true just for TAPMI, it happens for all b school. I know my friends who got last minute calls (ya, literally a phone call) from IIMs and other premiere b schools even after the classes have started there.
So please keep your phone reachable and access mail daily. If you cant access mail, call a friend (on any other city), who can check your mail.
Becoz you may miss a call/mail whcih could have changed your life. :)

If it all depends upon your PM, then start the "patayo PM" campaign from tomorrow. 😃 Be before the time, wish him good morning, good afternoon, good evening, leave after him, send him an official mail after he has left just to show that you were working late evening, ask can you do some some work for him out of office like fetching vegetables, talk to your team member loudly about how great your PM is and how many things you have learned from him make sure that you are loud enough that PM listens what you are saying, say very loudly that if u ever became a manager, you will be like your PM only, when the final call comes for admission say him that now u have got chance to become manager like your PM, talk loudly enough about how you feel that orkut and facebook is just waste of time and you have joined many technical communities and many more such pure unadulterated bullshit . 😃 Most of these may look ridiculous and far from truth, but u never know which may work. (And show sincerity of your life time , while bullshiting otherwise , it may back fire.)
But on serious note : If you are leaving company on short notice for another job, then the boss , HR gets irritated. Becoz u are leaving the job just for money and joining rival company.
But if u are leaving the job for higher studies (mba, mtech, ms) , then it is considered a noble cause. While you are resigning and talking to PM, HR , say "higher studies" two three times. Say that its not your fault, its just that wait list got clear very late and you got this life time chance. say that u have worked very hard for getting into any premiere b school. explain them how tough it is to get into any of top 25-30 colleges. Only 4-5 % of people get into any premiere b school, even after clearance of all wait list. (Just divide the total number of seats available in top 30 b schools by number of people appeared in CAT.) In nutshell, portray an emotional picture and convince them that u are leaving the company not because you are dissatisfied with job, pay or team. Tell them u are happy with job , but higher studies was your long time dream and finally you have got this last chance. :)
one more thing : The PM will oppose your resignation only when team work and productivity is going to be negatively affected by your sudden leave.
if u are currently working on any regular task(.net, java coding etc) , which can be done by other resources of your team, then the PM will have not much problem in letting you go.
But if u are working on something crucial which requires rare skills which currently only you posses in your team, the start making your backup. Give KT to any of your colleague. So that by the time you ask permission to leave the team (and hence job), your backup is ready and the over all project work will not hampered by your absence. In this case boss will have no issue in letting you go.

Anyhow...lets wait and watch...request seniors to intimate we puys...if there is a change in plan ...i.e if they decide not to give the waitlist numbers on 10th may and postpone it ....ONLY IF IT IS POSSIBLE for the seniors...We understand that the college is in no mood to reveal any details regarding the admissions....but this is a very important thing without getting into the nitty gritty stuff like "number of waitlisted candidates " .So if its possible please let us know or else no issues...
But hope they dont postpone it...

The list for other courses is expected to be released around may 15th...dats the update as of now...but I request you to go through previous posts as many questions have been answered.
Regarding your chances I would say dont get disheartened ...its not that all should be selected or waitlisted..they were rejects...so may be you will get through one of these courses...but there is no empirical method to weigh anyone's chances..probably you would be the best judge...whats your gut feel about the whole process...was it decent? hope you get through all the best..Keep yourself updated on PG

This query has been answered by seniors before. I will repeat it for your reference. TAPMI has two hostel blocks for men and one block for women. This is enough for the 360 student intake this year.

As my batchmates have answered almost all your queries, I shall just help with 'what to get from home' part.
Carry your clothes and bed+pillow covers. Everything from pillows to locks to buckets are available in the campus shop so do not bother carrying these along unless you want to save some money.
Do not carry any woolens as it is almost always warm/hot in Manipal. A simple jacket should suffice. Carry a good WATERPROOF jacket/windcheater and a decent Umbrella(available in the shop too). It rains very heavily (read HEAVILY) here for almost 4-5 months in the year
so better be prepared for wet clothes and soiled shoes. A pair of floaters will always be handy.And I recommend you carry some home-cooked food with you to feed us starved souls. :D
Plus everything that you shall need is available in the campus or Manipal.
And as Berty said, Enjoy your time before you show up at the TAPMI gates. You will not get this sort of vacation time again.

Regarding rains, get a bigger umbrella or maybe, a raincoat, esp for guys. The walk from gents hostel to the acad block is sure to drench you if you carry a small umbrella..:D

I mean, seriously dude, it'll be quite hectic once you are in TAPMI. Each class is of 70min duration. For us, during the first semester, we had 5 classes each day
9am-1pm 2:30pm-5pm. It depends. Some days you have 5, some 4 some 3, etc. All the classes will be different. There can be rare exceptions. There can be classes starting at 7.20 also...:wow:Last yr we had around 2 guest lectures on an avg per month and research seminar by the faculty every week. This year, we have planned to increase the frequency of the guest lectures by bringing in our alumni who now stand in high positions in the industry.
MIP (Management in Practice), or summer internship is put in 4th semester. Thats exactly what we are undergoing now.
