I dunno if I am the only dork asking this, but it seems that the Chairman's GD doesn't feature anywhere! :wow:
Is it off the list of rounds this year!?!?!? Plus, the list of shortlisted candidates is almost double than last years, there is gonna be one hell of a contest!
ATB to all!
If you look at the second column in the PDF of selected candidates, it states 'Selection for Chairman's GD' as the column heading. I am pretty sure it's going to be one of the round. Besides the TAS website also lists it as one of the elimination rounds.
Hence Proved I am a dork! But surprisingly no dates have been given regarding the Chairman's GD! And the last page of the document says nothing about the GD!
Also, it will be great if someone from Delhi can update us regarding the workshop......the one in Bangalore is a good one week away!

@Xrometh,
or we can think in this way that TATA group is expanding at lighting speed and thus they need more & more TAS managers π
If we go by last year this shortlist is only for chairma's GD which is a elemination round. Though all of the shortlisted candidates will get a case study intially, only those who make it thru Chairman'S gd will be asked to present it.

Yeah it does kinda suck about the dates. I have some project commitments and would need to travel over the next few weeks. Now I have to give vague estimates to my client about the dates when I won't be available!
I am assuming both GD and Case study will be held on the same day. And that is probably going to be in the last week of April or first week of May.
My name is not on the Short-list.Is there anyone who has not been selected or am i the only one with hard-luck.
Do they give any reason for not short-listing
Sorry to hear about that. I don't think they have a feedback mechanism in place for any stage of the game.
I know the selection criteria for this round in bits and pieces but not enough to authoritatively tell someone why they missed out on it. You can try to attend one of the workshops TAS is conducting if you are in India. After that your best bet would be some self-introspection.

You know I would agree with that contention. That is the way the process has been for the last few years and that is the way it looked like on the website too. But if I was to read what they said in the PDF:
'All the shortlisted candidates will be required to make a presentation on a case study. The same will be mailed across to the selected candidates by 23rd April along with the format.'
I could interpret it to say that everyone would end up presenting the case study because it doesn;t really make the distinction when it talks of shortlisted candidates, i.e. shortlisted from which round? But I am sure we will come to know how that turns out, sooner than later. In the meantime, we can sit and speculate all we want, right?! π

As you rightly pointed you the process has been similar for last few years... application shortlists are called for the next rounds (being CM's GD and Case presentation) that is held on the same day.
They however send the presentation to all application shortlists since there is no way that TAS sel com knows who will make it thru, it really hurts when one doesnt get to present what they have made but it works like that...... sadly so
Getting to see so many TCSers aint a surprise, its proportional to the population . Last year TCSers were 50% of the in-house selections. Guys hope you take it beyond that this time π
Have been getting a lot of emails/PMs for sharing info on the GD/CS....
So here we go ...please not that this info relates to last year's process. Do keep track of the changes, if any, that follow this year
1) Chairmans GD: We were divided into groups, and then allocated a panel for the GD. The GD had as many issues as the no of participants and each participant had to act as the chairman for a issue. The issue was a problem faced in day to day work/life and the group has to suggest a solution. This is where work experience helps and posing solutions to such issues wont be a problem. The GD was very good, no chaos, very rational people around.
Add relevant inputs, be rational and do not be over innovative. That should work.
2) Case Study: In our case the guys who cleared the GD were asked to present the case study. I guess in most groups 3/8 people made it to this round. Again the case study had a business problem. We were given 30 mins to do the needful and suggest a future course of action for the issue.
Here too I would advise to be rational. Abstain from making unusual assumptions or over complicating the problem / presentation . Keep the presentation terse and concise. Follow the KISS guideline.
Remember that your age = each panel's work experience.
They are extremely learned people and its impossible to justify flawed reasoning.
I got to know of the TAS workshop from the forum. In my opinion, attending this workshop will help you with a lot of info on the process and TAS queries.
Great info Vibsrathi! π That is useful, to say the least. So the key is to remain rational, keep things simple. Sorry if this is quirky, but do we actually need to prepare a ppt to present the case study? I mean do we present it to a group of ppl or is it just a discussion where we talk about our proposed solutions.
Thanks for the wonderful information ..... Can you elaborate your experience on the Case Study presentation .... Also, would you have a soft copy of last year's case study by any chance?
Cheers Pritesh

Can someone tell me how would the case studies be conducted for people based out of India at the moment? Will they be called to a common location? The list says the location is yet to be determined.
So was wondering.
Cheers.

Congrats to all who made it to the next level.
