any news on TAS? they are killing us with suspense on the gmat cut off....god knows if they have tas this year or not.

Well, I am also getting impatient to see the TAS form. But I guess till last year it used to be opened sometimes in Feb, this year only ppl are saying that it is expected in last week of January. So, we can't do anything but wait only.

As far as GMAT cut off is concerned, I hope they will follow the same criteria of 650, as they had last year. Lets hope for the best.

One thing I cant understand is why TAS do not have a working website:shocked:,
that too when they have TCS in their wing.

Hi guys,
a little Intro-
I'm Gaurav
a part of the Tas 2009 batch, Inhouse candidate
2 years Tata motors-Marketing ,
MBA- 2007- VGSOM-IIT KGP
currently doing my business projects with tas.

I have been an of-and-on PGuy. but will try to help out whenever I can

From what I could gather
the major queries so far have been on Score and Age:
Score:
The Cut-off has been 650 for the last 2 years atleast. It apparently was 700 once but they ditched the practice given the no and mix of people that threw up. I know people who have made it on 660 and also know people who have not made it on 720. In my opinion they use the score as a cut off. once you have cleared it it will not figure as a part of the selection criteria. So if you have a score in 650 range you should be ok. However since it is something you will write on your form and that piece of paper will travel with you right upto the final panel too so a great score does help as a C.V boost. Something like good Acads

Age:
The unofficial guideline at TAS is that you should not be 28 upto when you join the TAS usually june. the idea is that they do not want to have people miss out because of a few months. So one can safely assume that all those in the 27+6 months category as on march 2010 can safely apply.

Timelines:
your ideas about the timelines are fairly correct. So keep an eye for communication. Guys from smaller companies need to be careful- the communication could slip through the fingers- in the baton transfer that happens between Group HR and your company HR. uys in Non Mumbai locations also please take care. Would suggest all you guys form a google group with you official Ids if required so that no one misses anything. TCS guys you guys are usually the first to know- please help your bretheren.

Onsite people:
Dont worry- these guys go the whole nine yards. if you make it they will fly you guys down- If there is one thing you can be sure of, it is that these guys will not cut corners. They took their largest batch at the hieght of the downturn.

Form:
The real killer is the form. Please fill it with utmost care. remember it is handwritten, Neatness, spellings, grammar - it all matters.I have a horrible handwriting and so wrote mine 5 times before i thought it was acceptable. There is no word limit but there is a space constraint so you have to choose your thoughts , words and letters carefully. This form will be scrutinised everywhere. please introspect, self- aware and be truthful. The panel is unbelievable and they will tear down any facade that you think you will create. Take as many opinions as needed and refine it.

please also work on other aspects. the GMAT may appear to be the thing right now but the other rounds will creep up suddenly (some thing will come at work it always does ) and you won't know what hit you.

read the gyan on TAS 2008 forum - i remember it was quite nice

i will try to post regularly.

All the best,:cheerio:

Gaurav

Aside to the Motors junta:
lets try to beat TCS this time - its TML 4 : TCS 5 last time

Thanks a ton for the information Gaurav .... special thanks for clearing the air around the age criteria ....... there were several debates about it but none of us were sure .......

I agree we shud all go thru the previous year's thread ..... but it would be gr8 if you can outline the process at a very high level ....... while we shall look at the previous threads for details ..... this would give us a feeler and I shall consolidate into a sheet for everyone else's reference .....

Cheers

Hey All,

This is ABhishek Sharma from TCSL. Currently in USA working for an onsite assignment with a TCS client.

Found this thread to be the most relevant one for TAS 2010.

I am a TAS aspirant and thinking of applying this year.

It would be helpful to be in touch with you all fellow aspirants across various Tata companies.

Any other TCSers on this thread?

Cheers,
Abhi

Hi Gaurav (gktas),

Hope you are doing well.

Could you share the sample form which is to be submitted to company HR to start with the TAS proceedings?

Or any other details related to it?

It would be nice of you to share your experiences from last year TAS with us throughout.

cheers,
Abhi

Hey Angelic_DevilBe patient ...... The news will come soon ...... hopefully arnd Mid Feb ...... M sure TAS will take place this year ....... So be in a watch mode for now .... and as soon as someone from the forum finds it out M sure they will provide us with the news ... and from what I have heard if you are from TCS, you would know it earlier than the rest of the companies in the TATA group ..... Guys!!

I've got a GMAT Appointment in a couple of weeks time. My problem is that I've really gotten nowhere with my preparation. And frankly postponing my appointment seems to be the sensible thing to do.

With the TAS registration deadline expected to be around the 2nd week of March, I'm thinking of rescheduling GMAT to like the first/early second week of March.

I understand that the AWA score does not come in till 15 days after the test.

My question is whether the AWA score is required for as part of the application process.

Please do let me know if any of you has any info about this.

Thanks

The score of the day of the test is sufficent for application and short listing process.

thanks man!! will look out for the deadlines now 😃

awa score is needed to be entered in the form.

Form submission comes later right?
If I do schedule my GMAT for a couple of days before the deadline for registration on the TAS website(which i suppose does not require the AWA score), I should be safe right?
