Yes, you can very well do that. However, even if you work somewhere, your experience will not be counted in TCS as you have been recruited as trainees.

I am also in dilemma..i am new joinee...I am working on a project where i have chance of going onsite within one year..but thing is dat my work is kinda support & little bit development... & suppose if i get chance for R&D; in Tcs now(just talked with my HR now),it will be huge boost 4 my carreer..but once u go for R&D;,u have to forget about onsite stuff...considering fact that some MBA institutes rates ur profile by looking ur international exposure also, what should i do?..shud i go 4 R&D; or continue with project?..

International or Onsite experience carries weightage only if you have that "real" international exposure. Onsite generally means doing the same job from a different location (for a software developer role) which doesnot add that much a value to your CV keeping in mind the MBA interviews.

R&D; carries a lot of importance in terms of your career. Generally fresh associates from Tier 1 colleges are preferred for R&D.; And one more thing, in TCS, HR does not decide which project or vertical you go to. HR gives the normal speech of caring and listening. Donot keep too high hopes.

Chosing between Onsite and R&D; is completely your choice whether you want that extra money or visibility in your CV.

Thats my opinion, your experience may differ. After all, you have to decide.

AST : 23000 *12 (This entry salary varies with your type of degree)
ASE : under 5 L per year usually
ITA : under 7.5 L usually
Associate consultant : Under 9.5 L usually
Assistant Consultant
Consultant
Senior Consultant
Principal Consultant
Above that posts have varied names I think. VPs, CFO, CEO etc.

Pay is not the best in TCS, especially if one begins at TCS and continues for 5 years. It can be anywhere from 4.5 L to 7.5L assuming the person is a ITA....................Nothing personal but if you have good marks in your graduation, try other companies for a better salary and a better work quality early on in your career. TCS is a big brand and for majority of the employees it ends there.

Use internet job portals, go out and pursue in person, visit companies and you will see better salaries very early.

I have been in TCS for over 3 years. Joining may get delayed in TCS coz it depends on requirements.

Joining a company depends on your preferences. Location, Package, friends/relatives, interest, profile, etc.

There is nothing much to chose amongst these 2.

I m working in tcs..joined on january as fresher(electronics engineer)....ASE(T)...2de,i have another offer in bosch, india as software engineer(embeded systems)..so very confused abt it..pls share ur views,puys..

Depends on your interest. However if I were you, I would have gone for Bosch.

why u wud have gone 4 Bosch?..u have been in tcs for last 3 years...still?....

Its indeed a good deal. But at 5 years of exp and such a package, donot expect much hike in the first appraisal cycle. Also, evaluate based on the role and project.

Thanks for the reply.

Can you please also let me know whom does C2 reports to and where does it fall in the hierarchy? Also what is the role of IT Analyst?

I have 8.5 yrs of exp and is being offered 11 lacs pa (with about 35% variable pay) and designation of 'Assistant Consultant'. Is this a good deal?

Hi guys,
I just completed my BTechand have been offered a job by both TCS and Infy on Jan this yr during Campus placement .
Infy is offering the post of System Engg. while TCS is giving the post of Asst. System Engg.

Can anyone tell me if these are equivalent? and which should I go for ?

P.S.-both are offering approximately same salary.

Push for a Associate Consultant profile as i see CTC/VP at par. Project/role offered also matter.

Reporting structure is role based and not designation based. You may report to another C2 or C3A. However, role depends on the availablity. No one can comment on that.

It's a development project and they are offering role of Architect.

Then you should for for C3B-ASOC designation. Recheck with the HR.
