  2. What should be the compensation range for this position (definately it depends on negotiation also, but need salary range for the same
  3. Normally what is the onsite travel timeperiod (i.e. 2months or moree, just need guidliness) for the said profile
Thanks
hey disissid06 ... CONGRATS !
you really have got a nice bargain for urself :)

ASE band is for associates who fall in th category of total work ex
based on the work ex ... various band/designations given in TCS are : ASE-T >>> ASE >>> ITA >>> Ast Cons. >>> Assc Cons >>> Consultant and so on ...

PS : You get it clear from teh HR about the promotion policy very clearly as on basis what i knw, you can't be promoted to ITA level unless u have spent some 1-2 years in the organisation, but again your salary is at par with ITA level already :)

Cheers,
Maverick

Hi Maverick
Thanks for the response. Well I dont think I am gonna stick around for more than a year there, so am not really looking at a promotion perspective right now :)
I confirmed with my Recruiting manager and the HR about the role in the project and that is of Service Manager. Honestly I want to do sucha a role. So frankly if the money is right with my exp and hometown advantage I am interested very much in the offer....
Any sugestions are most welcome or any more info on TCS wud b gr8 :)
Cheers
Sid

Hi..
I am currently in my second year of MBA. As the placement season has just begun, we have been informed that TCS is coming to our campus to recruit guys who have an engineering background for the post of business analyst. They have not mentioned any other criteria.
The problem is that i have 55.87% in my 12th std. Can somebody tell me whether TCS sets >60% criteria in 12th std. when it comes to d campus of a b-school for recruitment ???

1) Though its not less BUT u still must try for "Associate Consultant" level.. as step higher than Ast. Cons.
2) Completely depends on your past experience and profile .. including technology, brand name u possess, etc....
3) Onsite duration varies from project to project & client to client .... some cleints encorage more Onsite whereas others patron offshoring ... Once u r tagged with a particular client/account, then only it may be bit clear ... but yeah, 6 months is kinda bare minimum .....

ATB ... Cheers !

Hey ,,, if ur 3+yr experience u should ask for ITA only ,,, if u hired at ITA u will automatically get the 6.5 lac package , because if u join as ASE now , it will be very difficult for u to get promoted , as promotion process is not at all transparent in TCS,, it make take u around 5 yrs overall exp to get promoted....

hi i m a final year civil engineering student. i m placed in an IT company. is it secure and value for a civil engineering student to join in IT company?

Hi Guys - I am having 8.1 yrs of exp and have been selected by TCS as an Assistant Consultant. They have considerd only 7.5 yrs of my total exp and offered a salary in 7 digits per annum 10 % lesser than what I am withdrawing in my current but not so famus organisation. How do you rate this offer considering TCS is a well known brand?

The designation is fine as per ur exp. Joining below your current package doesn't make much sense to me, but then again it's your decision. Consider the following :-

1. Work Area :- Whether it matches you career aspirations or not. You must be able to make it out.
2. Role offered :- Often a better role would assist you in climbing designation levels and possibly earning better appraisals.
3. Location :- Whether they can offer you a work location of your choice or may be a transfer to your preferred location after joining.
4. Joining bonus to offset the lower CTC.
5. Onsite opportunity, when and for how long, which will make this a very easy decision.

It would be difficult to comment with the generalised statement of ur package been offer and ur current organisation..
- TCS is not a good paymaster (not sure what TCS have offered u) but heard definatly they have very good working culture & exposure on projects...
- Profile of Asst consultant mostly require to interact with their international clients and will even require to visit them.. and during visit, onsite benefits compensate alot part of salary
- TCS been big organisation so got bigger portfolio & knowledge centre (not sure abt ur current organisation)
Having said that, all what matter is what you are taking back at home in financial values
Thank you both - needinput and theone1.

1) Work culture & company stability are sm gd reasons I am lean towards TCS otherwise I am making lots of money here.

2) Location is also good, nearly 10 KM closer to my home so another plus point but not big 1 though.

3) One of the big reasons is that I might get an onsite for long term here which is not possible in my current organization so thinking to take a risk and compromise with some quick extra money I am making in my current org as overtime and perks.

Hope all goes well.

Hi ITian,

I had started my career in TCS. I worked there for little over 2 years and then moved on. So I know a decent bit about TCS.
Given your status , it seems you are in delhi. Now if you happen to be in TCS@Delhi , its better if you switch to a more professional and lucrative option like Mumbai or Chennai.
For any other info, you can PM me.

Hello AtulPal, I would suggest you to go for Accenture. Given the amount of international exposure and your choice in choosing the domains - Accenture works best. I am saying this even though I work for TCS.
