i surely won't bring the case of my gf for this transfer affair...but if i can manage some doc's certificate regarding allergy then will it be enough?? also i have some of my relatives in TCS who have been working for the last 4-5 yrs...so can i approach them for some sort of help...means if they can refer my case to the RMG then are there chances???
Well, it seems a little desparate for you. There were a few favourable cases for me like I spent a year there and luckily my confirmation was over by that time. I actually fell sick and I had very co-operative managers. I had parents in Delhi as well. So I could tell them that I would better off at home and blah blah blah.... Hope this helps you to evaluate as to what kind of a situation you are in. And on top of that, once you start reporting to your base branch (HYD) then you would get a better idea of everything and you will be in the thick of things by then. Gud Luck !!!
I am having 6 yrs 9 months of exp. Out of which I have 4 yrs 2 months of onsite exp. My current CTC is 5.7+ lpa. I got an offer from TCS with designation ITA and salary package 8.9 lpa. I stay in Kolkata and the offer is also in Kolkata. I also got an offer from Accenture with designation Team Leader and salary 9.6+ lpa. But location is Mumbai. They also gave me Joining bonus.
My concern is I am not happy with the desig TCS offering. I will completing 7 yrs on April 2011 and also will be joining TCS on April 2011 (If I accept the offer). I asked them to offer me AST desig on which the HR told that the desig has been chosen by the hiring manager and she cant do anything abt it. Then she told me to write a mail to her about the concern and she will pass it to Hiring manager.
My question is which one is the better offer? Secondly, do you think TCS will negotiate with the desig?

Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai , Hyderabad....these are the best options. Pune is also quite nice. This is in general which means your life could be horrible (Bad project, bad boss .etc etc ) even if you land up at the best location. You should not blame the location then.
In my college TCS has hired people under two profiles-- 1.IT and 2.ITIS(infrastructure services) which one is better and why?
If you are an engineer then IT is undoubtedly the option. For people from less tech background, they can opt for ITIS. But nevertheless, since IT happens to be their core business, one should assume that this where the stuff lies !! More like flagship programmes that b schools have ... Hope this helps..
Hey guys, Just got an offer with TCS( 5.5LPA).:D I belong to class of 2011 - MBA. Initially had some 1.3 years of exp with another IT major. My questions:: Is this a reasonable package?? Where would I be posted? Any ideas on location preference and time of joining would be highly appreciated.. What would be my job nature and profile(coz, there was no PPT in the campus drive) Any suggestionsss:cheers:

I am also in TCS n joined just last year as fresher, the designation of ITA is given after an experience of 4-5 yrs depending on ratings-..so ur experience is on the higher side, also negotiation on desig may b possible...u can give it a try...I am in TCS n hav no complains against it (my PL is cool),no idea bout accenture

go 4 IT coz it has much more scope, ITIS is like a internal TCS infrastructure services...no onsite no company jumping chance. Strongly recommend IT n no ITIS

Reasonable package .....well . That depends on a lot of factors like where you did your MBA from , what past experience you are carrying , your past CTC...etc etc. But as a thumb rule, you should be getting around 7 lpa.
MBA are offered a variety of roles. I know a friend of mine who did her MBA from SP Jain and she is working in the team which is handling M&A.; Given the limited information that you have provided not much can be said. But it will help if you choose to provide more information.

OK. Here it is from me. I believe Accenture is a better offer because
1. Work Culture in Mumbai is far far better than Kolkata. 2. Accenture is a very good brand to leverage on. 3. It seems that Accenture is offering you a better designation and CTC than TCS.
But here is the catch. 1. In TCS, designations and roles are two different things. ITA is a role , Team Lead is a designation.. Which means that even though you will join as an ITA you will in all probablity not work as a team member. You will mostly likely have the Team Lead ROLE (I suggest you better clarify on this ) 2. Mumbai far far costlier than Kolkata. So you eventually you will end up saving a lot more in Kol than in Mum.
Nevertheless, the Accenture seems to be a good bet and you should go ahead and join unless you really do not want to move out of Kolkata.

Thanks for the response mate. And here it is.. I was an ETL developer after my BE in Comps for 16 months. My last drawn salary was 3.1LPA. My MBA college is not THE best, but reasonably good college under Anna Univ Coimbatore. My specialization is Systems(IT). My concern is about the place of posting or training. Will they provide me any options?
Mumbai Pune Bangalore Hyderabad Kolkata Lucknow Ahmedabad Kolkata Chennai These are the 9 options given by TCS for our joining preferences!!!!!! One of them definitely would be Kolkata as it's near of my hometown!! I don't want to get hectic project as I wanna prepare for CAT..Keep that in mind what are other 2 options I should go for?? Can anyone plz sort expenses of Mumbai,Pune,Bangalore,Chennai,Delhi in ascending order?? It would be another parameter (though not the foremost) to decide!!
@ssudipta90 I do not know about Chennai . Apart from this the order according to me is 1. Pune ( Least ) 2. Bangalore , Delhi/NCR 3. Mumbai ( Maximum )
This is ofcourse generalization. If you choose to compare between an extremely posh colony in Gurgaon and and a ramshackled place in Mumbai then there is every chance the list above gets obsolete !!! Hope this helps.. Ciao.....
Hi.. Doing my final year graduation B.TECH with Comp.Sc. and Engineering. Got placed in TCS as Assistant System Engineer (3.16L pa). Also, scored 96.98 percentile in CAT and applied to IMT Ghaziabad. My acads are pretty fine too.. 90.8% in Class X ICSE and 93.0% in Class XII ISC.
Seniors, please tell me my prospects in TCS and maybe doing an executive MBA later; OR going for IMT G now..
I might also add that I'm confident of my programming abilities.. and am not totally averse to working in the IT sector provided I don't lose out pay wise.
Can seniors please compare what my annual salary is likely to be after 5 years.. 1. If I continue with TCS as an Engineer. 2. If I continue with TCS after doing an executive MBA. 3. If I get a job after studying PGDM from IMT Ghaziabad.
Which would be beneficial for me in the long run??
@mona3939 I do not think TCS is going to negotiate because they generally give the Assistant Consultant designation at around 8 years ex. you can nevertheless try. And what do you mean by " leading roles " ?
The 5 lpa deal is fine. Although I woudn't be surprised to see you get close to 5.5 lpa. ASE is sort of combination of SE and SSE. The next designation is IT Analyst which you will become with 5 years of total experience. So that another 1 year 10 months for you to become eligible for ITA. Increment after a year are decent. They are, like almost everywhere, dependent on the market trends. It is possible to change your profile but the longer you have been in a profile for e.g. you have been in .NET for 3+ years now. ,harder it gets . But my question is why would you like to switch to another profile now, after 3+ years
Nothing that you can do now. I believe the ability to handle nasty bosses and strict deadlines do come in very handy . There is not much you can do about technical aspects because you do not know which technology you will be a part of. Anyway, you will get enough time to polish your technical skills in the related domain after you start working( its not like you will be given to handle mission critical systems from Day 1 ) . Your emotional and intelllectual maturity in official capacity determines your future more than your ability to code or whatever. You will appreciate this more after you work for a little while say around 2 years. Hope this helps ....
I am appreciating this whole heartedly as I am in TCS for 1 year... Rightly said..how to handle nasty bosses and strict deadlines..
