Hi everyone, I'm a recent B-school passout and being offered a Management Trainee - Grade Y role with 4.77 ctc. I'd be very thankful if u guys cud help me with these queries:
1. What does the grade represent? Is 'Y' reasonable? 2. From the info on this topic, the career path for an MBA seems to be: MT > ASA > SA > AST > ASC n so on.. for BTech, it is ASET > ASE >ITA>AST>ASC... If the amount of time taken to reach AST level (common for both) is the same, wht's the advantage of having an additional MBA degree?? 3. What is the general hike expected by management graduates, is it similar to their tech counterparts (5-15%) ? 4. I've heard that TCS now allots base branch based on one's recruitment branch/location? Is that true ? or Are MBA grads also allowed to provide their 3 choices after ILP? 5. What would the ILP include ? Iwas told that we'd be trained on a Functionality (like SAP, Oracle Apps etc.) and wud be given a Functional Consultant role after training, is an FC role equivalent to ASA ? 6. My MBA was focused on Oil & Gas sector, can i ask for Energy specific projects as i'd be able to contribute much more to the brand there. 7. If the mgmt tries to allot tech work to me, how should i react ?? Can i say 'No' straight-forwardly ?
Any additional info would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance Nitin
Hi Nitin,
Do you have pre-MBA experience? I think 4.77LPA is very less for an MBA grad. And for sure they will not(90%) ask you to do technical roles. If they force you then surely you can let them know. anyway, they are not paying you much :)-

Kind Regards.
Hi buddy, No, i'm a fresher. I know they're paying very less, but i'm not currently in a condition to complain. Got the offer through an off-campus event, actually. They were offering 4.7 to 5.5 depending on experience.
Hi, I recently joined TCS in June-2011 as systems engineer and package of 6.2, having exp of 3.4 years. I wish to know below :
1. Is it a good offer ? 2. When can we expect the next hike and quantum ? just got to hear that we will get only performance appraisal hike after 1 year and then yearly pay hike will be in april 2013. 3. What's the time period after which we can look for project change> Its been 3 months in my current project and I have not been assigned any work and wish to go onsite within TCS from some other project.
I am currently in Mobile Applicaion development, to be specific I have an experience in both Blackberry and Android Apps Development. My current salary is 3.25 LPA, how much salary can I expect if i switch to some other company after one year, also I am a fresher and in Infosys. 😁

Hi arthpatel25, If you switch after 1 year, u may get a pay hike of around 20-40% on ur current package i.e. 3.8 - 4.5lpa (depends on a lot other factors tho) But I'd personally suggest u to stay at ur initial workplace for at least 2 yrs (unless u have a serious issue), switching this early does not leave a great impression on a candidate's resume & the HRs in general. Enjoy ur work and try to settle down n gain some real WORK-experience. Good Luck !!

I am an Engineer..!!
TCS is a Tata group company. And as we all know Tata's have perhaps the best employee policies. After working for TCS for about 2.5 yrs makes me think twice to leave TCS. My experience in TCS had been wonderful. Hence my query in the earlier post came up.

I am an engineer too. I am joining TCS this October as a fresher. Its nice to know that the work culture of TCS is excellent. I am looking forward to enjoy my days as well.
I have around 35 months of TCS experience and then on a sabbatical. I was at C1 level with around 4.2L levels. Considering I would join back in Apr 2012, what can be the kind of package expected ? Also, can we select a project of our choice ?
How can the entry level at this point be changed to C2 ?
Hi.. i got selected from NIT-A in TCS as a ASE on the package of 3.31 LPA (aug 2011), what will be the appx in-hand, if someone has any idea?
If TCS is providing the accomodation during ILP , u ll get 16k in hand during training. If no accomodation is provided , it will be 19k during training . After training , it will be around 23-24k .

Even i am in ILP now . U must have been provided accomodation and ur package might be 3.16 . In the first month , they are deducting some 3000 for health insurance . It will not be deducted from the next month . So from next month u will get 15k in hand . Even we got only 15k in the first month including HRA . From second month , we started getting 18k .

Yup..We've been provided accommodation & our package is 3.16 LPA. In first month we got around 16k.Last month we got 11k.
ILP will be of 60 working days. Officially, there is no leave in ILP. But you can take max.of 2 days leave providing valid reasons(esp medical emergency). More than that will lead to discontinuation of ILP & you'll have to rejoin in next ILP-joining batch.
