Very simple . Be good at basics . U dont need to be Einstein for it . Knowledge of basic concepts in ur branch will do . Apart from that decent communication skills and yeah good aptitude for the written test .

Cheers .

Hello kpcat,
I guess you are one of those guys who are frustrated with the company they work for. I am no different but the very attitude that you have shown by your comment brings forward your cynical attitude. You should not be disrespectful to the company you work for. If you have a future, then it is your decision how to work for it. If you think you don't have a future in the company then you better look for some other job that might provide you a better future, as per you. If you are worthy enough, you will get something better for sure.

So stop bashing some company for not providing you something that you think you deserve. Rather than venting your frustration like this, use it as a source of inspiration to move forward in your career. Study or switch to some other job, whatever you may like, but quit talking bad about the employer you work for.

Thats what a lot of ppl say . But if u dont like the job , get another one or go for higher studies . I know they recruit a lot of ppl . And the chances of growth are low . But still i would say its a very good company . They have very good employee management . Even i feel like a part of a crowd at times . But i dont blame the company for that . I could have done better . So rather than blaming the company , i look to the positive things which i can learn there and will move on when i get a better opportunity !!!!

@crackMax and @jafri.azhar -
myself is not d nly one who is saying this ... and nly i m not the nly sufferer, in past 6 months i found that about 50% to 70% of the people i met were frustated with tcs.
the question is why ?
coz they dont get the nature of work they want.
no employee friendly environment.

neithey they get work satisfaction nor monetary satisfaction.

if sm1 gets he is vey lucky.

..... i agree with u that i should move on to some other cmnpny or go ahead with studies.
but do, this will change the opinion about tcs... this is a way to escape from the realities to which we are exposed now(if u r in tcs).

in past 12 months its like, i have wasted 10 hours everyday of my life with no productivity. i m at a stage that, if i leave cmpny no employer will prefer me on the basis of past 12 months.

i m sorry for the way i have written above. but i m strong enough to accept it.

why i m preparing for cat ?
to run away from tcs

fo this i should praise TCS or THE TCS.

Even I am working with TCS but I have a different opinion. The work environment, the work culture and all the blah blah you are talking about, it is more or less the same in each and every company.

If you feel you have wasted 10 hours everyday for past 12 months, then surely you have. If you wanted to learn, you could have. There is no way you will be stopped to learn something if you are trying to.

You will move to some other company and I bet, you will find the same situation there too, not exactly same but somehow you'll be frustrated with the situation again.

And if you going for MBA just 'cause you want to run away from TCS, then my dear friend, I am sorry to break your heart saying you'll be disappointed again. Many of my friends who have followed the same path say so.

So it is all on you, how you take it. I am not here to make all high and shiny about TCS. I am just saying, respect someone who trusts you for something. If you are an achiever, go for it but never forget who got you the first break in the corporate line.

ATB mate. May you achieve what you want to.

dont you think that you are making judgement about the whole company taking a small sample size. i agree there are projects where people are frustrated becoz of hectic work, long working hours etc(in which company you wont find this) but vice versa is also there. may be you belong to former.
Regarding you are not satisfied...depends on your aspiration, what you want from life, or you want to be in IT in the first place..
many people i know they are in love with tcs and are there for more than 8 years...

Well kpcat..sorry for interfering in between. I also work for TCS and can understand your situation completely.
but generalizing on the basis of few persons(ur TL,PL/PM) is not a good thing.
My some friends have even resigned due to the frustration and their profile after 1.5 year in TCS didn't fetch them a good job and now they r preparing fr higher studies.
I am also sailing in the same boat as yours and therefore suggest you to work hard for shifting from your job and prepare for higher education(CAT/GATE).
TCS as a company is not bad...but the crowd at entry level for graduates is worsening the situation.Try to be at Middle/Top management positions and you will be a happy person.

When is the next MBA fresher recruitment of TCS? The last one was in Gujarat in the month of July for 2011 passouts. Thanks.

Firstly, I failed to understand wat do u mean by "bahut local company hai"

Secondly, tell me how many companies u have worked for in order to make a judgement like that?? There are soo many onsite opportunities.
Compensation is also not bad if not the best. Work is also not very brainy.
Infact, a BA/BSc/BCom can also do same job easily.Feel lucky that you faced competition only from BE/MCAs and not from rest while entrance test.

If one wants, he/she can take his career to great heights just after a graduate degree from even an average engg college.
Tell me how many sectors & how many companies can offer this.

In India, its very c'mon to see ppl complain widout looking at their own skillset( genuine skillset and not the one written on CV )

So according to you, i have taken 4 yrs og engg degree to prepare excel sheets and maintain logs of call and bridge, inserting bullets in documents.

nd my friend "Feel lucky that you faced competition only from BE/MCAs and not from rest while entrance test."
this stmt is very wrong. u r feeling lucky just coz u r not facing competition with other mass. i would be very happy it face it.

"Life is not about what u get by destiny, its all about what u achieve by ur hard work"

"Infact, a BA/BSc/BCom can also do same job easily"
u told very higher degree fo the work . it can be done by 10th pass. why its hiring engg, gradudate.

"If one wants, he/she can take his career to great heights just after a graduate degree from even an average engg college.
Tell me how many sectors & how many companies can offer this."

i think ur aim is different and my aim is different. u have different definition of height nd i have different.

lastly,
i am not able to understand for what i should be obliged to tcs. for giving me break in corporate? dude, tcs has better options than me nd you. why doesnt go nd hire(like a hell) in iits and all nits. no it cant go coz there it will not get cheap labours like us.
i should be oblized to tcs just coz it is paying me, no i will be not coz i m deleivering what i should. i doing my work for which i should be paid.
18% of attrition rate.

"In India, its very c'mon to see ppl complain widout looking at their own skillset( genuine skillset and not the one written on CV "
i have right to complain coz i delivered my best in the project even though didnt liked it. nd then i was deceived.
nd for ur kind information
I m a passout from NIT Allahabad nd i have genuine skill set.

by seeing ur post i can say smthing about u, that u have an attitude like a river, flowing with flow. Felt lucky when u got smthing and felt unlucky when u didnt and forgot about it. u cross the bridge when it comes.

its not my way. what ever i got till now, its my hardwork and nly my harwork. i work for what i want.
i am quitting TCS in next 15 days. after wasting 12 months. i cant achieve what i wanted here.

puys: i will not reply to this post now. it was my opinion about TCS which is not going to change.
I m really very sorry if u felt offended.

Ur post suggests u r new on PG.( & also new to corporate life) See this place is meant for logical discussion in order to help puys . Whether u love TCS or u hate TCS, no one is concerned abt it.:)
3-4 puys tried to suggest u the correct way of looking at ur job scenario.

Go ahead and do watever u feel correct but plz do not make any personal comments. U hv no idea abt my attitude.

Will advice you to ask queries , doubts on PG rather than making ur own judgements. If u are firm & rigid on any issue then wats the point in posting it here.

Hi,

One of my friends worked for 2.5 years for TCS before joining IMT ghaziabad. She is on sabbatical right now. What will be the role and the salary that will be offered to her if she joins TCS after MBA ? Its kindda catch 22 situation for her as she wont be eligible to sit for campus placements if she doesn't resign from TCS.
Any pointers/suggestions in this direction will be greatly appreciated.
It will help in resolving her dilemma to a great extent.

Hi all,
I am currently pursuing my MBA in HR n Mktg...N we will be having TCS on r campus very soon for th role of Business Analyst (BA) (fr HR ppl).
Can someone pls throw some light on the job role and growth opportunities? Will it be a wise decision to accept the offer of joining as a BA after MBA??
Also, I have a work ex of 18months as a software engineer with a leading MNC, so how much remuneration can I expect as a BA from TCS?? (the sal being offered to freshers is 5.27L ctc)

Pls respond back to my query asap...
