i wud jus like to have a small discussion here.... if evry 1 is having a fantastic pi... (gd.. the duration is 20-25mins.. so evry1 is going to get a chance to speak).. wat criteria wud they be judging you on.... as rarely heard of any 1 being GRILLED or underwent a stress interview....??
it looks more of a conversation.. in a way its good for the candidates... but than how r they gonna decide who to shortlist?? any idea guyz? plz post yr 2 cents on this...... adi yr comments are welcome 2!!

had my gdpi yesterday at bangalore.......had a g8 exp......sheduled time 1345 hrs but the process started at 1430 hrs.......but as far as the hospitality n the respect towards the students r concerned welingkars stands out......i never expected this from them......now i am very sure that if i get a call (final) i would simply grab the oppertunity(no to CAT 2005) .....both the students n the faculties there very caring
.....they just made sure that u feel at home
few incidents which may highlight it
1.both the faculties n the student were very dissapointed with the late start of process n the appologized to us several times
2.when i entered the pi room both the persons present there stood up to greet me:wow:....n when i left the same thing happened:whatthat: (it just reminded me of the tapmi int where one of the faculty was leaning back in the chair as if sitting in a park n in the directors interview the director was sitting in the sofa cros legged:x)
3.we were provided a separte note book n a pencil for jotting down the points in gd
4.provided with snacks:wow:......cake,samosa,biscuit,potato chips,mineral water bottle....aquafina)
the above mentioned points may b small but it mattered a lot to me

the process started off with a small n crisp presentation in a class room.
mind u the selection or the conversion rate is 1:75:huh:
one point they mentioned made me laugh out my stomach...."WE r ranked no 8 in south east asia".....do they think they were speaking to children below 5 yrs r to deaf people????
THE GD
"todays youth r more installment bound" was the topic given to us ....a dry one time allocated was 25 min but we finished the discussin within 15 min....rest of the time beating ard the bush

i had a excellent pi which lasted for ard 25 min.....it was more of an informal chat ......thank my stars no questions from acedamics.......but they drilled me on the answers which i wrote in the application form.....they took up each and every question n discussed on that.....if pi is the only selection criteria , i am sure i wld b selected
P.S. plz ,if u have a copy of the form which u wrote....better browse thro it before the pi ..... i did the same n it helped me a lot

lot of hype for this pt.....this is the frst time i took the pt.......it was kewl....
totally there were 90 questions which r to b answered in 15 min
it is objective n shd b taken in computer n not paper n no shading the oval
90 questions where divided into 45 pages of 2 questions each
mind u the main aim of conducting a PT is not to judge ur personality but to check whether u r true r lying:)......so dont mess up ...b true.......
what i found out after the pt was that most of the questions were repeated which were spread out in diff pages .....so it just see whether u choose the same option when u come across that one
for example "I am hard worker" option was repeated ard 8 times
other ques.....i am honest,i am organized,i am lovable,i like to lead....etc etc..
CONCLUSION
all the process came to the end at 1545 hrs
abt the result it will come ard 15 th of may
hope my exp wld benefit the future students

I again apologize for the delay. That occured for two reasons, a few batches before you when overboard on the time in asking questions to the ppl in the presentation. and u were in a batch just after lunch, so the net 45 minute delay.
The point you missed with the ranked 8th in south asia was the source of that ranking. It is a fact, granted ppl hv issues with the entire ranking procedure.
the point of the PT is to identify your personality not the truth. there are various tests that are conducted for specific reasons. The point u made about selecting the same option every time can work against u. so all other be careful. Be true with ur answers. the choice is between the two options given is that question not all over the test.
there are 90 questions with 2 options each, not 45.

remember each of the processes GD/PI and PT is worth 50 points outta the total 300. We know 150 of those 300. The marks for the GD/PI are already in the bag. PT is just a complex formula in XL.

hi guys, i had my gd/pi/pt at delhi on may 1st,at mount carmel school...read the exp of other guys...n feel it's quite similar to mine......something abt me...have cat % of 95.31, elect engg 2004 passout, have 11 mnths work exp...with a not-very-well-known firm....and very avg acads....now what i observed at the gd was that the quality of junta, sorry to say, was very mediocre...the whole thing was kinda chaotic...the observers were cool..after the gd was over they continued with the discussion..!! the topic was...."india needs more laloo prasad yadavs to identify with the masses" no choice was given among topics....my gd was ok , made some solid points...then had the pt which has already been described by others before....finally the pi...had a really nice gentleman to interview me...was soo cool n composed that i had to make an effort to hear him....asked me questions only from the form that i'd filled up...and some other general qs...no acads related qs whatsoever, thankfully...... well, the exp overall was cool but like the others i'm wondering too abt the criteria they'd use to finally select candidates.....GUYS PLZ ALSO SUGGEST THAT WITH A % OF 95.31, SHUD I ACTUALLY EVEN THINK OF JOINING WELINGKARS? well i kno the percentile is nothing great, but i wanna know that how many ppl with %of 92-93+ actually join wel...coz i know i'm not so good to be among the best , so i dont wanna give myself any such false notions anywhere...

it sounds from the feedback abt the gds and pi that no 1 has yet heard the dreaded word "donation" or management seats at the pi. so lets hope that there is not much wierd stuff going on this year. and guys thanks a lot for ur feedback on the gds and pi, lets keep it going so ppl like me who wld b the last 2 attend the gd and pi benefit.

if the ratio is 1:77 and around 29000 people had applied that means 376 people will be selected .and for the gd pi around 2500 people were called.so ratio is 376:2500 which is approx 3 in every 20.
i have certain doubts,
1) do we need to prepare a separate dd or something for wellingkars ta the time of the gd ?
2)whtas the process of elimination for the second round. (ie) a gd again or what?

I share the same sentiments as voiced by Yesha here. Welingkar is surely moving ahead at a rapid pace. Infra is mind boggling. Placements have also seen an improvemnt over the years.
But i would agree that Sp Jain, Nitie, Sydenham and JBIMS are still way ahead.
Its your choice dude. You might make it to the IIMS or MDI next year witha little more luck on your side.

Is Sydenham better than Welingkar??
In terms of infrastructure, Welingkar wins hands down but in terms of placements how much better is Sydenham as compared to Welingkar?
