hey ppl ,
a friend of mine had his gd/ pi today. it waz not diff frm oters.
the topic they were given ' will india be a superpower by 2020' . well such a nice topic , but the gd was no more than a fish market. there was a guy who contradicted most of the points . at the end he waz given a piece of mind by the observers.
the pi was cool n the questions asked were frm the form itself . nothin new .
the majority of the applicants were wid work ex.
this fact puts us to lil worry , since we r freshers wid no work ex.
and the fact tat many studs make thru back door entry. the chances 4 us is surely less .

ok fellas...itsz over n done wid....

my time was 1:45 pm...we entered at 3 for the gd.....we were 10 of us...matured lot..except for one dude from orissa who was a bit hyper
As soon as we entered and sat at our places....one of the panelists.....all of em looked like senior dudes in IT.....told everyone to start one by one and reply to tyhis question: "What did u do in ur last holiday"
so all of us replied the normal crap....he was like..he jus wanted to check if we guysz have been stressed out mentally n when was the last time we had a holiday since the topic for the batch before oursz was "Todays kids are stressed out!":)

ok then the big one..the topic was give: "in Russia they speak Russian..in Japan they speak Japanese..in China they speak Mandarin....In India they speak English!"...2 minsz were given..i started the topic ...made 5 different points...covered the topic in a holistic way....n left the bones to the othersz:) .....luckily..it was a mature crowd and no one made a fish market!

The gd for everyone was bout their form..it lasted for 10 minsz average....but for me the gd was for 20 odd minsz....stress interview..not one generic question...Techie bout IT and lots of management IT..major grilling...i think one of my panelist was the CEO of I-flex...maybe i am mistaken..but i remeber seeing him on TV!!!

glad to know u had a good day. u are one of the lucky souls whose gd group did not go bonkers. further it was a change to know that ur were grilled in PI. I have been following the posts on these thread and most experiences abt the PI were regular stuff; cordial interaction etc etc. So I was thinking I was the only unfortunate soul to face a grilling. Anyways ur experience is reassuring for me. To perform under duress is the key.

Venue: Welingkar Campus, Mumbai

The GD topic was "Classroom learning vs Experimental Learning"
The Gd was good, no fish market, some excellent points and very valid examples.

My PI was very good, the questions were mainly related to technology (I'm a bsc(IT) grad). They also touched on the maharashtra power crisis and asked me to name some ministers. They also asked me my choice for specialization. I answered everything pretty well -Including some questions on "the trump"...

All in all I would rate my PI 9/10 and GD 8/10.
The psychometric test was interesting....no idea how that will turn out.... :)

1. Some additonal info for those visiting Welingkar: Make use of the large number of very helpful students to clear any and all doubts you may have.

2. The snacks are very good. The wada was tasty, I left my bag outside before I entered the PI and forgot to collect it after that-so din't get to taste the samosa. The tiffinay mint sweet was very good too.


Cannot say anything about my chances as I don't know my CET score. The results should be up in about 15-20 days they say.

GUYS ,done with the thingy,......now its only waiting game.

Anyways first to memphsez., sorry dude ...misconception...had my gd/pi at 1:15.

here it goes.....

GD: topic given was"Is dictatorship an answer for India?"
Obviously couldnt go witth it as very few points and a lot of negatives.
panel(two )..gave us 1 min to think and then as soon as we started some guy got alll going at 200 mph...and speaking absolute bullshit....then evryone started talking all at once ...thern i intervened asking 1 person to speak at a time........it turned chaotic and people started straying frpm the topic talking about poor economy,bad politicians and corruption????///



It was absolute bullshit,but anaged to give soeme relevant points on dictatorship and its flaws(hoping panel noted that).......there were just three people arguing a sto whose point is better.......after around 10 mins the panel gave us a 1 min remainin warning....all agreed in allowing two people who had not spoken to have a go on summarising it........all in all it went better than i anticipated....A RATING OF 6/10

PI: panel of three....very cordial and friendly....1st question by sweet lady......what was gd...and its details...its conclusion.......
next question after engg why mba.......answered both very convincingly...got a nod as an approval

gentleman1......asked bout family business....asks bout book that ive read(who moved my cheese)........and some related questions....
lady asks...........why chosen 'bono' as person who inspires........

gentleman 2: questions on current news......and places ive seen ...

last question.......how would u manage family business.....and hwat r ur views about it(messed this question up big time).......

Pschometric:lord knows what is the scoring procedure......so many times selecting different answers thanbefore........
after the test asked a welling student...he said ony 15-20 questions are genuine the remaining are just beating around the bush........he said that they would take a personality graph from some permutation combination(??? what? how?:huh: )
the one most consistent get through.......

thats it......i cant rate pscho...dont know how?.........


Overall the college i found better than others a s in the students are involved and hence we come to know a lot of hidden facts.......

Sharing with u my GD PI experience @ Welingkars.

My topic 4 GD was

Behind every successful women, there is a understanding man....??

The GD went very well. No fish market. It lasted 4 20 minutes

Next was my PI

Following were the questions

1) What is ur height?
I am 6 feet 2 inches . Thts why they asked me abt the same

2) Next one was Introduce yourself.

I just told ....

3) Why MBA. the Question everyone normally asks. so had to explain them in detail the necessary stuff.

4) Why Welingkars?

5) What makes u unique?

6) I m working with Dun and Bradstreet Mumbai, so some questions were asked on the same.

7) I had mentioned in my form tht my one of my interests are doing social service, so some questions were on the same.

Some question on my specialisation.
Overall PI lasted 4 12 minutes. it was ok

last was the Psychometric test, just testing ur presence

Total 90 questions and we had to solve in 15 minutes

2 options were there and we had to opt 4 one

Mostly Questions were repeated

Overall It went well

I was very much impressed with the good organisation done by the management students

Good event and well organised

Keeping my fingers tossed 4 the results

Hello guys,

My Gd/Pi batch was yesterday (afternoon batch).The Gd if asked to my honest opinion was a whooper with a total mess of discussion ,lies,white lies,mindless babble and every time it verged on the ridiculous to more preposterous with a 8 years work ex uncle just rutting his own who bore heavily on the discussion and lo, all was crap.Though they managed to hold on, my peeved self and a girl breathing heavily, huffs and puffs which didnt intimidate me ! Even in conditioned surrounding they were clinging to the topic" Is advertising wastefull" in most sultry and in the worst narcissistic manner.
I managed to make few points 1) cola-wars getting ridiculous 2)Advertising a social contract only when manifested will the sales effect 3)Inferior appeal to emotions found repulsive by people. Every point was interrupted and I hope the panel views the better of it.
The interview was relatively a breeze.I think I had the same panel as Rishabh,2 men and a pleasant lady.The panel was cool and put me completly at ease and greeted me ,'Welcome young man 'and shook hands with me . Throught the interview they were smiling .
I gave my introduction when asked.After that the questions asked were 1)After literature why management?
2)Questions about which novels you read ? Just said the regular stuff of Dickens ,Austin, Bronte and Hawthorne
3)Humorous novel you have read? (pause) to my regret take 2
4)about literature ? All jargon of psycho-analytic theorey , Neo-classical theorey, Classical theorey ,Freud ,Jung etc. Bascically criticism terms.
5) Tell more about any theorey ( Man) Before I could finish (lady) Tell me about any charachter to whom this theorey applies? Hawthorne novel's charachter.
6) How will the knowledge of literature help in management?

7) Tell any literary personality who made it big in management? couldnt fathom and cut short to Dileep padgaonkar when inkled that the writer wrote in the Times. But it was to be gurcharan Das

10) Which bourses are bound to rise ? I said Biocon besides steel sector and likes of construction.

while leaving, the old man asked me to open a bottle of water which I opened a little water spilled.He reminded that the water should not spill. Well that was it.
Psychometric test got over eventually .finished it much earlier than the time alloted.Was honest and hope there was less contradiction in my answers though I think few contradictions seeped .
The ambience of Welingkar was superb with supportive students quite a booster.They have a good cafetaria had my omlette and cola met with 2 guys both seemed quite able to hitch a call.One a Mechanical engineer from pune.Till 4.00 pm the process was over had lunch in the cafetaria with the same guy didnt look very upbeat.
Well that was my speak.Back by volvo 3hrs to Pune had company of the pune guy whose gd was also apparently hijacked by some glib person this time a girl.So I was having a vain feeling of something incomplete and my company was rather morose.

hi!
had my date with welingkar 2day at 9 am.
gd was on should companies aim at profit or customer satisfaction.
had 5 girls in the group and the entire gd was spoilt!
fish market with most of the girls trying 2 sell fish!!!
made 3 to 4 points and then left it 2 the girls 2 mess it up!!!
(and they did a fantastic job of screwing up the gd)
pi wa good! lasted for abt 10 mins. questions were related 2 the form. the panelists shook my hands while i was leaving! and as i opened the door 2 get out of the room, i panelist asked my height! i turned around and replied with a broad smile!
d day is on 15th , i suppose!
lets keep our fingers crossed!

i had my gd/pi on 7th 11:15 am
gd topic : Foreign direct investing should be introduced in retailing
i thought there would be a choice of two topics..n i was waiting for the second topic...but my hopes were crushed as the female said begin...the thing is if you have any objection to the topic you should tell them speak out before the gd begins...
before goin to the gd i asked this guy who was in charge n he told me u wud b given a choice of two topics...later on i came to know i had to object to it ...

i had a very bad time in the gd...couldnt contribute much as i dint know much bout fdis..overall the discussion was cool n calm...the panelist were kewl ...

pi : my pi was amazin..there was only one panelist...basically he asked me questions bout dubai as i have been living there...so i was pretty confident answering his questions....the guy was quite kewl ...he himself was using slang language...was suprised wen he said "malus" and "goras"...hahah..

and the last was the Psychometric test ..this was a breezy affair..was glad that the whole thing got over...

should say the volunteers were really helpful.....should mention a few names here like Rahul and Faarah..they were really helpful n did a wondeful job to give them confidence ..kudos to them.. n the atmosphere also was very relaxed...

n hey aditya it was really nice meeting u....ya it was me...;-)
he was stunned as well as over the top wen i asked him whether he was a member of pagalguy...lol...

overall it was a nice experience....i jus went to chill not take any tensions ..i wud suggest others also to do the same...jus have a chill pill dont take any tension n try to make friends out there...n cross your fingers...

Hey fellas..i guess reading watever feedbacks we have had...looksz like a full on mixed bag matesz...donno wat to expect n wat not to expect from the results.:huh:
Any of u guysz know for sure when the results are gonna be out cause when i checked...a couple of them told me by 15th May and the rest said in 3 weekszzzz!!!

I hope it aiint 3 weeksz yaaaa..too much of a wait....and are the rounds over in Mumbai or there still are some daysz left?

hey guys,
i finished my GD/PI yesterday ..... was surprised to see so many people in a time slot...also felt that we were arranged in order of our CAT scores... since the ones who applied only thryu CET were called on the 5th .. how many did they really call.......... anyway GD was ok..Topic: Should India Give Kashmir to Pakistan....... i think mine went well ...... there was one girl looking to dominate ....thankfully she was the only one ....was surprised to see Govind Ethiraj from CNBC for the interview... even the other two in te panel didn't look like any of the profs....overall the interview was ok.... only question i wasn't able to answer well was "What does quality mean to you?".... crossing my fingers for the 15th...anyway glad the process is over
