Did you notice that the box where we are supposed to enter our CAT regn number has only 6 tiny boxes, wheras our CAT Nos were 7-digit? How is one supposed to fit that in?
hi is welinkar better than imi and fore?
also pl rate the course pgdbm and pgdeb?
about how much over and above tution fees, would be the cost of living?
should i take up the course,or start software work (not great salary or company)
and take cat again....got 87% and imi call but 30 th on waitlist

its diff. to compare............... welinkar's management seems to be more dynamic. lil money minded but has good infra.( and chicks) fees are 3.5+lak (2yr). .i would suggest you to take fore/imi ,if u are from delhi as cost of leavin in mumbai is high. (me goin tu welikar for same reasons)

Just discovered i'm not on MICA shortlist..hav a CAt %ile of 97 with 99.99 in VA, 96 in DI n 17 in quant!!
had an sp jain call last yr.. with a similar cat break-up... i'm really tired n depressed now..i dunno if i'll convert nmims (tats the only call left for this yr) n i'm thinkin of applying to welingkar.. but heart is BLEEDING!!
i've finished bcom last june n hav held 3 jobs in last 10 months.. all good brands... but life looks very bleak to me now.. wot to do..ne words of wisdom??

Just to clear all confusion, enter the 6-digit CAT application number. This can be found on your CAT Admit Card.

Actually it is the other way around, the PGPeB course gets filled first, 'coz there are a lot of applicants. The PGPeB course has a few additional tech. subjects in each semester and is hence better geared towards industry requirements. Proof of the pudding, the max. sal. every year since the course started has been with the PGPeB course.
I myself am a Mech. Engr. and a PGPeB student, I can vouch for the advantages the course offers, both during placements and immediately after you start working.

as compared to KJ , Welingkar is a better college. Otherwise both are average having avg. salary of 3.5 to 4 lacs p.a. laterals also can max go to 4.5-5 lacs. if you feel that you cannot put in another year for cat prep & want to do an mba now then go for Welingkar.

I wud agree that welingkar is better than KJ in terms of infrastrcuture and the opportunity to learn. i.e. lots of value addition.
To give you facts, average salary this year has been 4 lakhs and a max. of 7 lakhs(this one was a lateral placement). For more details on the placement statistics, look up my posts on another thread.

i have converted nirma, may convert KJ, n may buy form of welinkar.
as far as welinkar is considered ,i m a local guy (being from matunga), well i visited nirma ,impressed by infra. ,KJ infra is poor,college is unclean(unlike welinkar).
if u talk about placement then i think Kj is better ...... but doesnt matter... its an individual's hardwork.... n good comp. visit both KJ n welinkar.
still i want to have a feel for P.G. so need hostel,which KJ n welinkar wont give.also i liked nirma (very less hidden charges) ...so i m almost sure on nirma.
other guys................. choice is diff.,u have to think n compare many things.....

To put it down,
- fees = 1.75 L p.a.
- hostel is available for guys and gals and costs around 30K additional p.a.
- laptops, get your own or wait till u get in and a group of junior students(ppl who just joined) assisted by seniors and faculty negotiate and get prices down for the bulk deal. to give you an idea, the batch of 2004-2006 got HP laptops for around 62.5K, mkt. price of the same was around 1.2L when they were got.

CAT and CET scores will be normalized and scaled to 100, which is the weightage given to the written test in the selection procedure.
This will be done by IBPS, which is a govt. body. I think IBPS will be doing it for the DTE as well(for ppl who have submitted CAT/MAT/ATMA/XAT scores to them). The exact formula they will use, only they know.
So we will get your CAT and CET scores independently from them and use the better of the two.

i had a q... the marks allocated 4 work ex and acads.. how r they divided ?? any ideas?
coz in somaiya... 10th ahd a max of 2 mrks ,,, 12th max of 2 mrks... and gard 6mrks... but the irony was tht they dint consider 3yr courses to be grad courses..
so bms ppl like me lost out 6 mrks./.. coz of bms bein a 3 yr course??:wow:
is it the same at wellingkar?? boss coz 6 mrks is alot yaar!!
also in work ex.. somiaya considers only bse listed companies... and my work ex is not in listed company...so shud i show my work ex?? coz againg the weightage for work ex is i think 15 or 20!!!
pls advise!

the marks for acads are based on your performance there and not what you have studied, i.e. is course independent.
work ex. show every possible post grad full-time exp. weightage is given to no. of years of work and type of work. totally worth 20 outta 150 for the shortlist. even the CA articleship gets weightage.

if u don't have another backup i would suggest buying the form ..if u r in mumbai u an wait untill the 1st to buy ure form as u could buy it directly from welingkar...otherwise it would be a risk .......... the last date for submitting the from is anwayz 10th april ..ATB
