IMS innovated the concept of CAT correspondence training. It is time-tested and very h high in quality. In fact, I attended their SimCat on the 18th of May this year and found it to be the best benchmark among the top students around the country and also the questions were typically CAT-like. Moreover, the analysis session by the eminent faculty Mrs. Manju Bhandari and Mr. Gautam Sharma conducted at IMS South Campus was very enlightening and in more ways than one helped me know where I stand today. I also got to know that it was very important for senior faculty like them to help us strategise our preparation alongside the tips to crack the questions. After this experience I am now more focused and confident that under their guidance and support I can crack through CAT.

Xactly...thers absolutely no problem...as the ims test is conducted by a sister wing of ims(origen..i guess is d name,not sure though)...u jus need to show ur id card,at the centre of xam..thats all... i was registered in trivandrum,but has taken few of my Sims in Bangalore..But jus ask at ur centre,just to be sure...

In case of TIME i think u can give just 2 mock papers at some other location and for more than 2 u hav to pay some fixed amount of money 500-800 i thnk

I believe that IMS test-series is really worth its salt. Time is good and you can go for the combo of both. SimCats are really good indicators of your current standing vis-a-vis the rest. They are benchmarked in line with the actual CAT levels and have a pan-India presence. The faculty takes analysis of the same and those at IMS south Campus especially like Mrs. Manjoo Bhandari and Mr. Gautam Sharma provide valuable insights that go a long way in preparing a real manager.

Yes you can change the centre in between.
Even i will be opting for that as i have to join my company and am not sure where they will send me for the ILP.
But had a talk with TIME and they are willing to allow me a change in the Test centre.

I would suggest to go for TIME Mock CAT series.
The large number of ppl taking the test gives you a fairly good idea of your current standing. Post test analysis is also pretty good.
IMS also falls in same lines. Not much idea about the rest.
In the end what really matters is how well you prepare urself for the DAY:new_bat_angel:

this is a tough discussion going on, every1 has his views and priorities, so i would put in mine as well, (more statistical though)

last year: took time test series, its exhaustive, but monotonous and tiring

this year: taking TIME (saturday evening at sec 14 , gurgaon) and IMS (sunday morning rotary public school, Gurgaon)

Time costs 2450 (includes take home tests and discount for 96 in mock)
IMS costs 1500 (only mocks)

For Gurgaon ppl, you can take both tests at the above mentioned times.

I think for a working professional, this is the best!

I am planning to take 2 of them, and would prefer to appear at the center instead of home!

I think Time test series is really good for no of people seating for it. otherwise it is really monotonous and becomes predictable at a moment. i had joined it last year. this year I am planning for IMS(ofcourse along with Time 😃 ) so it's individual's call which one to join.

Well regarding the quality of Mock papers of TIME, IMS and CL I can shed some light as I was givng all three last year

I will put the comparative studies like this:

IMS:
VA - Very good level. Atleast they tried to guage the level of CAT
DI - Easy to Medium - Again CAT has been throwing comparatively easy to
medium DI sets for last 2 years

QA - Good Mix of Questions like CAT

Overall - Last year very good SIM Series. I would say the best to keep upto CAT and also conducted in a very organised fashion unlike TIME :clap:

TIME:

VA - Good standard comparative to CAT again as over the past few yrs
CAT is going tough in VA so TIME is doing the same

DI - Very good mix of questions though sometimes tougher if you see the
trend vis a vis CAT but still CAT is surprising so good experimentation.
Drawback in DI is mostly sets are repeated over the years. Hence
students who repeat TIME like me might be knowing some sets
before hand.

QA - Good Mix here again.

Overall - AIMCAT series has highest number of students so percentile is more balanced. Good series to take. But the way they conduct is poor to say the least:sad:

CL:

VA - easy to medium doesn't test the level of CAT. Atleast that is what they did last year.

DI - Medium to difficult. Rarely easy sets. Make you sweat in the hall. Looking at the trends of the CAT this section is becoming scoring but if you look at CL papers you will rarely feel so.

QA - Difficult to very difficult. Mostly cut offs were single digit. I remember for IIMC PGDCM ATM test, people suggested "Practice from CL Mock QA" it is more than enough

Again without baisness if I judge CL QA - They make questions not only conceptually difficult but also lengthy and hence I don't feel really upto CAT standards. It is way above that and surely not necessary.

Overall - If you are very weak is QA and DI then you will surely commit suicide because your confidence will be all time low after you take CL Mock.But then again who says CAT won't be of CL standard this time???:banghead:

My opinion go and take the CL mock but don't worry too much about your percentiles. Atleast you will feel good for the VA part.

It was good, reading opinions about the different Test Series here. Though, I am joining IMS SimCATs. Hopefully, I will start with SimCATs with this sunday itself. But, I wanna be sure, if the IMS center can provide me with taking the tests on SAT.

It would be a lil difficult,cus IMS xam is conducted by a sister-institution of IMS(Origen,if i remember correctly). But you can speak to the Centre-Manager at ur IMS centre and see...

Thanks for your take on my query! :)

The IMS center, which I have enrolled with is providing three time-slots for taking SimCATs. The last slot starts at 2:30 PM, so I am at ease now.. I am able to manage the two mocks on sundays. :)

But I need to improve a lot.. Today, I witnessed two debacles. :sad:

coz i have already joined some other institute and its test series timings clashes with that of TIME's..i even called TIME and asked wat if i join n simply collect the test papers on sundays..and they told me that its mandatory to wirte tests on sundays if i want the test paper..so the only option i came up with was seeking help from you all..in return i can share some part of your cost for joining the test series 😁 or i can also share the test papers of my institute ..all i need is on every sunday, i just want the xerox copy of the (test paper + its solution)..nothing else..let me know if anyone's interested :)

Please dont post ur mail ids and contact no on the forum...it's against the PG rules...and another thing is u can write TIME tests on Mondays as well if u r attending some other tests on sunday...I had done this last year i Pune..so I think this facility must be available in Chennai as well....

Hi Guys,

Last Year I appeared for both TIME and IMS test Series. Ims experiments with marking only............ Quality is not upto mark..

I would suggest every body to join Time.
Last year in some Mocks of Time No of students appeared crossed 45000 and IMS max was 20000.
Assume that this will again increase by 20 % this year for Time.....So approx more than 50000 students In one test series... It will realy give your best Percentile....
Now Come to Question standard
DI- No doubt TIME DI is very tough,But still Once you start solving TIME DI questions .. You will really feel CAT DI very easy.....Only thing is dat u need to analyse each and every question of AIMCAT DI........... This is more than enough to Raise your standard...
QA- Very Very Good... It will really help you..........

VA- CAT Standard...
I would suggest you to go for only one mock test series at Max 2.... (Time + CL/IMS).
Analyse each paper throughly.. which i never did.....

If v talk about test series, I think TIME is best.....though its my personal opinion, bt as I have gone through it once, so wud suggest to go for TIME. Their difficulty level is at par with CAT infact it is a bit more difficult.

I am from Delhi and I've heard that TIME is better with their Quantitative skills while Career Launcher is good with their Verbal Ability. If that is true, I would prefer TIME. Is it?
