Check out this link for world's top 16 B-Schools for MBA Finance. Out of these 16, 5 are Indian B-Schools 😃 which are IIM - A,B,C, ISB & SPJIMR....!!! We represent 31.25% share, isn't that great? It is even more surprising that MIT Sloan is behind most of our B-Schools!
Way to lead
Thats why IIM A/B/C/ISB are a league apart...If its MBA (from india) it has to be from A/B/C...but the acads centric criteria leave people like me with average acads no choice whatsoever...!!!
FMS/XLRI atleast are providing a level playing field to everyone....A/B/C should take the whole profile in cons. not just 10th/12th marks.....
WISH i had the money to do a foreign MBA.....!! Sorry for being off topic....!!!
I talked to few seniors of SPJ and they were rating XL n JB a bit high in finance. No offence to anyone but we cant really trust these rankings. A,B and C no doubt are among the best b schools(Finance) in the world and for the rest seniors can give a better perspective 😃
1. IT work ex will be counted only in IT. However MBA Finance will be a good choice in ur case.U must hv bn in prod support/development/testing ...after MBA ... u will move to analyst/consultant profiles.
2. Yes...go for a 2 yr course
Seniors..i have 19 months work-ex in sales...now planning to take finance as malor with mktg as minor...can anyone give a clear pic. abt the prospects i.e which sector wud be a preferable one after completion of my course?
There are stocks that could have earned u,almost 100% in past 6 months....For.ex. NSE:Inventure...If u have invested rs.100000 in oct'11 it would have been 1,87,700 rs as of date ...almost 87% returns in 6 months...

JSW Holdings... Rs. 100000 invested on 5th January, 2012 would have become Rs. 240000 on 10th February, 2012. 140% return in just around a month

I rather prefer "D street ka Don" on Zee business. Its quite entertaining
Hahahah..bhai,kis show ka naam le liya...hahaha...jab bhi dekhta hun uske 3-4 month tak koi comedy movie dekhne ki ichha nahi hoti.....
On a serious note,i think these programs are no good for investors...Though good for entertainment purposes but anyone who invests money should know how when and how much to invest. And i think there's hardly any program which tells the reason behind the recommendations. If there's any,plz let me know...i am more interested in knowing the thinking behind those recm.(so that i can compare there line of thought with mine) rather than just saying yes/no to a stock pick !!! There are thousand websites where one can get BUY/SELL recommendations, but these dont serve the real purpose!!! :)
P.S ABCLIKS bhai----Just got to know that u are a C.A.......maybe i can learn a lot from you....:)
I am over with all of my intvs(except FMS) and w8ing for my results.I would be taking finance as my specialisation.
I would like to know what all basics should I know before entering into MBA? Should I prepare for CFA L1 or any other certifications?
Even if you prepare for CFA L1 , You cant take it in June .. May be for December you can enroll . But before enrolling , make sure you see the curriculum and then register .
My suggestion would be if you are so keen of getting certified , you can have a look at this
this thread is not meant for these stocks and investments related discussions.
Point taken Sirjee :) But on a lighter note, it does answer the question why finance
When you see a JSW holdings appreciating by 140% in a month or Inventure giving 87% return in 6 months, The aspirant does come to know "Why finance" More moolah here than most of the other fields

i agree :) however there is more to finance than stocks listed on BSE or NSE and the movement in them. :)
so that's why i suggested you to continue in that thread. 😃
