Hi friends.
I wasn't aware that a lot of people whose destinies had taken similar turns had such a place as this (PG) to come together and plan their strategies.
I did B.Tech. (IT) in 2004. Had taken the XAT last year, and had secured 99%ile. Got a call from XLRI (BM), was put into waitlist, but finally didn't make it.
I joined TCS (campus placement) in July 2004, did my training at Trivndrum, got posted in Kolkata.
I took XAT again, got 96.** %le and managed a call from XIMB (16th Mar at Kol).
Problem is: while I was at TVM, I developed a health problem, that would be later diagnosed in Kolkata as an attack of Reactive Arthritis (Reiter's Disease): a condition that afflicts young males (20 - 40) who possess a genetic factor HLA B27. The severity of the disease prevented me from being regular at office. In fact , I had to take a couple of months' leave from work on the doctor's advice.
I am not sure if I would be able to be at my best at my GD/PI (what with the difficulty I still face in walking straight and smartly, and sitting straight), but I wouldn't like to miss out on this opportunity.
Can anyone help as to how I should carry myself at the interview?

Hi Srini,
I dont think they asked you abt your ECs in the form.. but expect a few ques on it in the interview surely....
One thing is gonna be common for all of you. they are going to stress on Acads.. like it or not, thats the philosophy of this place....
Given the high academic rigour... if you have done well in the past, then you will be able to cope better with this pressure.

It was really heartening to see your grit and determination. While i really apreciate your qualities, I would like to sincerely advise you to reconsider whether you really wanna do this course ?
I dont mean to discouage you, but the fact remains that the MBA program is one of the most strenuos academic programs in the country. This is especially true of an top B-School like XIMb, where a normal day may last upto 20 hours.... Given your medical condition, please give it a second thought.
I again repeat that please dont take this in any negative sense, but only as a genuine concern.

hey microhard........😃 well u guys r taking my intervw very +ly.but i'm doubtful.it can either be a case of "we r not taking this guy so y waste time with him" or "this guys good no need to ask acads".the former looks closer though. about my %ile i'm a orissa domicile so i made it at a very low %ile.add to that i'm a commerce grad with no wrk exp passed out in 2004.so now the former case look possibility.wat say guys?

. wat mite wrk in my favour is my consistent career of above 75% in every clas and loads of xtra curricular wrk in different feilds. so keeping my fingers crossed

First things first. Congrats on rxving a call from XIMB. Walk and sit the way you are comfortable. But make sure that in the interview you say something like you being sorry for your posture because of Reiter's Disease.
Use that to your advantage. Be sure that they will grill you on the disease. Be well prepared on the technicalities of the disease.
Then they might tell you about the rigour and then ask if you can handle it? Prepare a good answer to this question.
The fact that I have posted this message is because I believe that you handle the XIMB life, a bit tough though it might be. (I've been through two years of the grind, and it is a wonderful place to be in, with the tough time being the most memorable.)

- a group of 8 people: 4 Guys and 4 Girls
- Topic: Corruption is the price we pay for Democracy
- Time given: 7-8 minutes
PI:
- What is your job profile
- Are you Module leader/Project Leader
- Which domain
- Why u went into IT after Mechanical Engg.
- Is NRN Murthy MBA
- If not, then why you want to pursue MBA..you can still be successful without a degree like NRN Murthy
- What other calls you have
- Will you leave your organisation if we give you on the spot admission
Guys, i was not asked a single acads question..
Interview lasted for 5-6 minutes.
PS: the rest of guys were freshers and i saw them plotting certain DEMAND SUPPLY graphs for the interview panel.
