Currently, XISS has 2 threads on PG, one is this thread about queries and the other about placements. You will find that there are threads all over PG for different batches of students according to the year they are applying for and institute they are interested in for doing MBA from. Also, this thread is already too long and it becomes next to impossible to go through all posts.
Hence, I feel its better to have more threads that concentrate on the prospective students for a particular batch than to have general threads that proceed without aim.

(I am advising you keeping in mind what is usually the process for PM)
But, the same can keep you in good stead for all the streams.
Be dressed like a gentlemen. Formal short (avoid checks) with a good trouser (again avoid chinos) and an apt tie with a formal shoe (preferably the one with strings
)Girls, a formal shirt and trouser is what is advised. But, churidars could serve the purpose as well. But Formal shirts and trouser would be the best thing.
For PM, there will be 2 person in your GD. Generally abstract topics are given for your GD. You might come across a lady during your GD. Your command over the language, the ease with which you can express will be given a microscopic observation
Content of what you are speaking might take a backseat. But language, your assertiveness and conviction with what you speak will be keenly observed.Usually, we have 2 panels for PI. One, wherein the HOD of PM is along with another faculty (along with google) wherein you will be asked all those cliched questions along with questions from your graduation background. Slight knowledge of HR jargon would be excellent. 2nd panel is of another senior faculty accompanied by another faculty (Google absent in this panel
)Sage advice: Don't give superficial answers. Don't try to outwit the interviewer, they might stress you out, be calm & composed. At times, their words might pinch you, but then that is what they test: your tenacity, perseverance, blah blah..It might also happen that you want to beat the shit out of interviewer, because of the stress he is putting on you, but, remember, persist with a nonchalant smile on your face:) As if, you are enjoying the time with them (even if you are not in reality

My post was not intended to horrify or scare you people.
Take it easy. Mostly the topics are abstract. General awareness, if you mean current affairs, then i must make it clear that the topics thrown to the group are never tough.
Regarding PI, nobody expects you to answer everything. You should be able to justify whatever you are saying, else the leading questions won't end.

Practically speaking, your candidature won't be rejected on account of you not having attested copy of your document. Attestation by a gazetted officer is always considered to be safe, though.
Still, you can go with self-attested copy.

Why is everyone of the belief that HR is meant for girls, Marketing for guys, while Finance for both? When I tell someone that HR is what I want to do, they raise their eyebrows and give me such a dirty look as if they have serious doubts on my masculinity! But then sometimes I wonder, can the majority be wrong or is it just me who is really wrong? I don't want to make a compromise with any course or college now as I shall have to suffer with it for the rest of my life.
I don't care much about what others think and I am a very open-minded person. I do believe that in today's day and age, it is talent and skills that assure success, coupled with luck and timely opportunities. Yes, I agree it is a marketing or finance guy who will eventually end up being CEO of a company and one should aim high. Yes, I do believe one can set benchmarks in marketing and finance and that growth in both is much accelerated than in HR.
So, is HR really an average career choice?! I know most of you would say, go for what you like/love to do. But what more reasons can you give to justify HR as a good career choice?

i had my gdpi on 16th (sorry for the late post )
here is me dissecting everything regarding my trip to xiss
*where to stay : hotel Raj which is the closest hotel to xiss , i walked to xiss on the eve of my GD/PI . Its at HB road nearby puruliya road ,450 per 24 hours of stay (unless u prefer a 5 star one )
*what happened b4 Gd/PI : a surprise package in the form of a written test , essay for 20 min , topic for me was teaching methods in b-school . it was common for all irrespective of the fields they choose for .
*GD for H.R : topic was privatization , a boon or bane .It was a total trian wreck ,like roadies ka GD/PI ,fish markets , few literally made it impossible for others to speak ..i would be surprised (and bummed) if there isnt any negative marking for such instances
*PI for HR : was intense , questions relating to why mba ,why hr ,why change of line ,what i know of hr, what i cud bring to hr, case studys were reported by students as the most asked questions. They grill ur profile and take up questions from there
*GD topic for finance : state controlled economy vs liberalized economy . went fine .
*PI : it was really a friendly conversation , few ppl were asked abt banking terms ,e commerce ,which type of bank is better, prvt or public bank etc, it was asked looking at ur profile,when it came to me , a hotel mangement folk , they tryed to look into my profile and came ith question regarding them , my knowledge of abt finance etc
*GD topic for marketing :customer relationship management ,went fine
*PI for marketing : it was way too frank and a lil wierd lol, questions asked were all regarding me, my choices and my life ....the end!!
all in all from 8:30 am ,it went on till 5 . the panel will leave for their lunch as per their wish and hence u might be caught up starved and still waiting, bt i guess it was worth it
attendance was low , way too low . on 16th out of the many expected for HR, only 50 (approx) showed up .
i also heard few ppl talking abt donations an all , bt i guess its better to not ponder over it
ppl for I.T were the lowest on 16th
there u go , i chalked down the whole days proceedings lol

If you read carefully, you'll find that I'm interested in HR. I just don't get people's unfair bias and opinion towards it. No matter how much you choose to care or not, somewhere it does leave you puzzled.

any one from xiss -12-14 batch, if they have got the detailed fee structure tell me. I took pgdm rm they told approx fee 3.8L but will be providing the fee schedule after commencement of classes.
