hi all CFA L1 aspirants,

I cleared my L1 in june 08. I do not want to boast but a total of 10 days @ 12 hrs is sufficient for the whole syllabus. Again prior to CFA my fin knowledge was -> 0.001 (cleared NCFM beg module). Focus on other readings first. Finish quant then complete FSA till cash flows. move to equity book and then bond book. Read remaining FSA and then ethics. Mind it read ethics from CFA book and not from schweiser. Ques will come directly from CFA book in case of ethics. Do complete Schweiser book 6 to take a feel of exam questions.

Since i had less time i marked the book 6 questions as per chapters. The moment i finished the chapter attempted the questions. Last day revision of whole syllabus is must. Please do make notes.

Hope this helps....

Hi,
Its really gud to hear that u were able to clear the L1 exams studying only for 10days.
But my friend in the long run it definitely pays off if you have a better grasp of the basics as in case in any other profession.

I heard from guys appearing for L2 its tough and that L2 becomes a lot easier if your L1 basics are gud.
So keep working on them...!
Reading once reading twice reading till I l learn them all...:-)

Hey puys,
I finished with Reading 2 yesterday however the problems are still pending in R2.
Ethics is really time-consuming.....

I am following the schedule as mentioned in the CFA books as having registered so early it doesn't fit well to look for shortcuts.

I will be taking schweser notes by November end and i ll use those as a revision thing.

How abt others??? how s ur prep goin on...?

Cheers

@ Funemployed

I am from Ahmedabad. Which place r u from ? Yes, even I hope the Delhi HC allows CFAI to conduct June exams in India. That will save us a lot of time and money.

@ CFA_Knight

Dude, no doubt we have registered early ( Moneywise, it's the right time yaar, saved us a few hundred $) but going through the CFA material would be a prolonged affair. Are you preparing for it fulltime ? I guess, i would go for the schweser notes.

Darious I think we have enough time in hand we can start with CFA notes and revise thru Scheweser. As also thought by CFA Knight. I agree with his strategy.

@Mod,

Can we have a poll regarding which test centres are puys opting for June 10? This will help!!

btw, I am a bit confused between Singapore and Colombo (though I hope that by that time HC case thing gets clear and we can have the best option of India)

@puys, comments please! wanna register tomorrow after going through reply to this post.

@ wannabethere

most of the people give katmandu as the venue.

yes most people choose kathmandu, but if u hav a few extra bucks and wanna relax after ur long travail, y not choose Singapore, Kualalumpur or Bangkok

on a serious note.. u can always change ur test site (for free) up to 75 days before the testing date (6th june) So u can choose a center now and can change it later as per your convenience :-P

Puys,
I finished with Reading 3 today of Session 1.
Also for the problem set for Reading 2 I got 26 correct out of 35....

The answers are provided after the problem set.

I found that the answers are a bit confusing. You really need to be aware of the standards and procedures for identifying the right ones.
Akkad Bakkad doesn't help hr...:-P

hey,
A lot of posts to discuss/decide on test centre.

I have opted Nepal as I feel it would be cheaper, the paper work will be hassle-free as compared to other places and its a good location.....

I agree even I have chosen Nepal, I registered for it today.
Guys any advice on sequence to be followed for the subjects like is there a general pattern which if followed gives internal synergies in subjects like first finish economics than quants than equity or something. How are you guys doing it.

yes Nepal is always there as a "hassle-free" option, but u can easily get tourist visa for Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore. In fact, you can book your ticket, land in one of these countries and get a tourist visa at their airport:-P

so you can plan for some fun after taking the exam

Hi cfaprep
U dont need to get anxious jes because the notes will not be available for a month. If u have already registered for CFA L1 ,then u can start off with the offical curriculum.Neways since you have already finished your mba in finance u wont b having much of a trouble with CFA L1.As for the work ex that counts to gain the charter ,i am not sure about that. Y worry about all that now, finish the three levels and then think abt it
