Allow me the liberty to sensitise u... an OBSERVATION is based on truth or perceptional truth - if u r not 100% sure of what u say - as in ur case - u call it an 'Impression' or 'Opinion'.
When u say that engg population was less earlier, plz let us know how u arrived at such a conclusion. Dont shoot in the dark when u cant make out where the barrel is pointing at. A 'mere' 35% batch strength suggests less preference to the discipline, not more...(yes, think about it).
Lastly, this is not yet a dog-fight. And I prefer it to keep it that way.

Mr Vipin.. if u dont seem 2 have realized let me tell u i have been hanging around this forum since quite some time.. n this is the spirit of the forum we observe and we analyze from wht people say..!! n i analyzed from wht people who had calls from MICA last yr and had posted on PG..!! u dont wanna listen dont f*ckin read mah posts...!! regarding the engg population.. A few yrs back one batch had an engg population of 11% now it is definately more as u say.. go dig...!!! plus i can show you n number of engineers who AREN'T interested in MICA at all.. plus i can show you n number of engineers who clear it n dont join... n still they r 35% of the total
plus i didnt see they give straight preference to engineers.. read my orignal post agin..!!

I think it makes sens for going to mica via CAT only if we have scored over 24-25 in english else wait for xat. mind you xat is also gonna give some surprises this year as its gonna come out fresh and new with all changed

On a serious note, it seems to that all the management schools are planning to make their entrances very unpredicatble. say they wanna test the presence of mind, flexibility, blah-blah! Also, XAT05 was not different. XAT05 was not at all Vocab-heavy unlike the yesteryears! :smile:

Please tell me ppl shud I apply with last attempt's XAT score( which is 91%ile) or shud I wait XAT this time round..And one more thing with 91 %ile in CAT this year can I fancy the chances of getting a call form mica ( to b specific my english in CAT this year wud be around 20-22)....

i was one of the most active members of last yrs PG threads, and there was nothing there to back up ur talk...as for ppl not taking up MICA, they must've had better options like BLACKI or must've aimed higher - dont ppl leave IIML for an A,B or C call.
for the record, we have an ENGINEER in our batch with gr8 acads and extra curriculars who left IIM-I, K and MDI for MICA.

hi guys i think mica certainly do not look for indivual cutoffs any ways my scores are di -23 quant-15.66-17 enlgish-5.666 overall 44+ tell me do i have any chance of getting call from mica i still havent mica form waiting for ur replies be fast in reply although my frnd who is already in mica sayas tht u might not get call but with perc above 90 im sure they do give calls wht do u guys say
Hey Nous... Being a student of Mica, i can only help in telling u what the general cutoffs might be, but i cannot predict whether your score is good enuf for this year or not. As pagal said, a general cutoff of 85+ may get u call this year. However, keep in mind that mica will give out a call to the top 2000 of its applicants. So, if the general application percentile is higher this year, even 91 percentile may not give you a call....Another thing that u need to weigh is whether a 91 percentile in cat is better than a 91 percentile in xat...make your choice on the basis of proper information and credible sources. You may call up our registrar mr kgk pillai at Mica for the same. I am sure that he will help u in making a decision regarding which exam score u shud apply with....your verbal score does not hold any extra weightage as mica is not considering sectional cutoffs.......

I took CAT last year and got a percentile 0f 95.6...I did get a call from MICA but was unable to convert it.. This year I haven't done too well in CAT but still I think its better to apply on the exam scores of which you have some idea rather than applying on the basis of something in the future...So yah..CAT scores it will be.. But That's not my dilemma...Didn't you apply last year with CAT as well as GMAT...Could you tell us as to whether MICA considered the best of the two in your case...Also, Did you make it clear in your GD that you had infact applied twice?
Also my dear, what purpose does it serve to have a student state his career goals twice..as in why the seperate forms?? Are they checking if he's smart enough to make a copy of the first form b4 sending it across??? Another thing, why can't we have the opportunity to apply in the same form with different exams...I know of at least one institute of excellent reputation that's letting its applicants do so...Isn't it only fair to the harrowed students to extend the deadlines so that we can fill in both reg. nos in one go?????
I do remember you from last years forums....I believe that u shud apply with last years cat score and write in this years cat reg no...so both the scores, whichever higher will be considered...
I had applied thru the Cat and the Gmat last year, but mica did not state any provision for considering both my applications like they do this year. I applied thru the gmat after i felt that i had messed up my cat enuf to risk getting a call from Mica...That is when i applied thru the Gmat. So in essence it was solely my decision to apply twice, at least in the Gmat i was sure i would get a call if i got over 600, which i eventually did.
I dont know whether i was supposed to tell the GD whether i had applied once or twice...however, i did mention it to the panel, who according to me seemed surprised as they werent aware that i had applied twice...
Why Mica has asked for different forms for different exams is a topic for which questions need to be addressed directly to the admissions council at Mica. We students can only speculate on reasons for the same...and speculations are not definitive answers, therefore i think u shud address queries regarding the same to the institute and concerned people herein....
U can however look at this way too, Mica is now letting students apply through many more routes than earlier, therefore u stand a better chance of getting a chance to come for the second round...

Hey Madhatter Kari has answered a student's perspective quite well...now let me try and attempt to give you MICAAdmissions perspective. Having been a consultant to MICA in some projects and having been on MICA panel a few times, I can do so.
The reason why you need two forms for CAT and XAT is this. MICA, as an insti taking CAT scores, has to send the details of students applying thru CAT to IIMs to get your scores for them. Deadline to send these details is 15th December. In that case MICA needs time to copile data of all MICA applicants thru CAT and send it to IIMs. Your XAT admit cards may not have come in by then.
Similarly there also stated rules by two diff examing bodies. So MICA needs to do this. If you wish to apply thru CAT score this year and last year, you can fill in just one form. But for CAT and XAT, you need diff forms.
MICA is one of the instis that is fairly accommodative and sensitive to prospects and students. Even when it comes to changing the venue or date of your GD/PI, you will realise this...
