hi all ,

I am in Big dilemma . I am working in a Digital marketing company. Currently i am having 19 months of experience. I have given Mat Dec exam and scord 605 score , with that i think i could get in average college, not the best & i guess MBA from good colleges is worth.
This year i am going to give Google exams in my SEM field & i want to make my career in Digital Marketing only .

So i am confused here ,
1. should i do regular MBA and come back to this field after doing MBA
2. DO part-time/correspondence MBA along with my job & google exams.

If i choose option 1 , then i have to be in touch with my field & may be start fresh after MBA. Please guide me as your own brother.

Thank & Regards

You havent said anything abt articleship. Would you be able to quit your job and join for articleship now? Unless you have kept yourself updated with the accountancy/audit world, you might need more time on CA subjects (like AS, AAs, taxes etc) than a normal student who would have cleared CA inter taking CA finals in a years time.

Quite a lot of it depends on what field you are interested in. THough there are several fields which are headed by both CAs and CFAs equally, CAs are sought more in accounts/ audit areas and CFAs in areas related treasury/investments/reasearch and analysis (other functions of ibanks). During your mba i guess you might have figured out your areas of interest to take a decision on this.

Finally CFA would require atleast 2.5 yrs-3 yrs for all three levels where as CA final would just require 6months to 1 year depending on your comfort with the subjects. If your articleship is pending add 3-3.5 years instead. About completing CA final along with job doesnt sound impossible to me. see if you can manage to get a month's leave for preparations closer to the exams - that would help u a lot.

And about CA and MBA being two different streams is just nonsensical. Dont fall for it. all the best.

Hi,

I somehow like people in late 20s and early 30s who make up their mind to move on. And you are one of such guys.

If you are ready to work hard, then GMAT route will be a good option. But I do not think that you will need to take two years for GMAT preparation. If you work hard and honestly for few months, you will surely be able to crack GMAT or for that matter CAT and XAT.

Buying a seat will be an option if you think that GMAT or CAT is out of your reach in terms of preparation. However, I know many people from PG itself, who had no academic interests but finally managed to bell the CAT and crack GMAT.

So, it is you have to decide which path you want to take - the easy one by buying a seat or giving yourself a satisfaction that what you got is what you deserved.

For any queries, you can PM me.

I am currently working in Syndicate Bank as a Probationary Officer. I had joined here in February last year so I will complete one year here next month. Before that I worked in State Bank of India as an Officer in Marketing and Recovery for 9 months. I did my graduation in BBA Honors. I was also awarded as a Microsoft MVP two times.

I always wanted to do MBA from a top ten college. So right now which would be the best path for me to take?

1) Give CAT, get a good percentile, leave the job and join one of the top 10 colleges?

2) Give GMAT, get a good score, leave the job and join ISB or any other institutions abroad?

3) Do a executive MBA from a top 10 college without resigning from the job?

I want to do something which will give me the best package and where my experience would count. FYI, I am 24 years old now.

Options 1 and 2 are good to go. You are still not eligible for Ex-MBA.

I can make myself eligible for ex-mba if that's the best option. I just want to know which would be the best option for me.

It will depend on what you want and what are your requirements. All options have their pros and cons. I will write another post in sometime with pros and cons of all three options.

I want to concentrate on either CAT or GMAT. Which would be better? And in ISB, what extra certifications would I need?
