How is Christ University for pursuing MBA?tell
Hi,
I am a graduate with BE in mechanical engineering.I haven't finished this course with satisfactory results.
My percentage score is 49.94 %. I missed the 50% mark very closely.
It depresses me a lot.
I feel i am eligible for further management studies based on my aptitude and other management related skills.But my academic scores have let me down.
I have read that MAT allows aspirants to sit with more than 45%.
Please advice on that.
And suggest other options as well as I'm aware of only the above mentioned detail regarding MAT of which I'm not so sure too.

Its really disheartening seeing many ppl with 99+iles not getting a single call due to their past... I had been preparing for CAT this year and now realising the fact that present is not the only deciding factor i m now in a great delimma to prepare for cat or not.. i have my college placement in other hand where i dont think i have that chance .. neither i m interested as i want to go for MBA from a renowned college such as IIMs, ISB, FMS, or some A grade bschool abroad.. but my profile is a very big hurdle in my way..
I dont have so good acads (10th :90, 12th : 75, Grad : 60(IIT Kanpur, Mech.
).. with some extra currics and POR..
i dont know what to do with my past profile.. i have my placement session which will start fall this year but i really want to go for a masters... i will do whatever hardwork it takes but dont know where to put my effort..
so experts please show me the way... i really want to be back on track...

I got a campus placement from college in a Software product based company
I am confused about going for CAT next year , and i need your help.
1. with the current scenario of Calls from some IIM that people with less 80% in grad are not being considered . Do i have any chance of getting call in case i want to try for IIM - A,B . considering i am a male,engineer both things having less points in profile scores.
I gave Cat this year with following score in CAT. I gave CAT for just trying it. I believe i can work on my VA and it should not be a problem. I got
OA 97.xx
QA 99.xx
VA 80.xx
I am confused whether
1. Go for CAT next year and try for IIM's
considering the fact
a. male
b. engineer
c. 75% in grad
d. I have a got a good job with 10+ LPA package. ( i have not started working yet , so cant say right now that whether i will be happy with that job or not)
e. I was techie all along but now i am having second thoughts. Basically , the questions boil down to this , whether after , 2-4 years of working , will i be having the urge to do MBA . If that is the case, then i would like to give CAT while i am in my study mode and would like to continue it.
2. Or i Try for GMAT and make my profile so as to apply in institutes abroad (if the answer to above question is , Yes , you should go for MBA. )

Your problem is a very familiar one. But you need to highlight what you have gained in past six years, experience wise. Just do a bit of introspection. And I have one question for you.
Are you very much sure that an MBA degree would act as a savior? Might be something else attracts you more than the traditional education. Please do a bit of research on it. You will come to know what you want and why have you opted out from your placement though have tried for a bank job.

Now I have no arrears and i completed my graduation with a first class. would i be able to get into top mba insti (provided i get the required score) ? plz reply.
there is nothing like that. i have seen people having more backs than that getiing admitted to good colgs.
I have been selected in UPES dehradun in International business program
My query is that their last date of submission of fees is 3rd of feb and NMIMS will bring out their list by 9th feb. (my score is 201)
Should I drop UPES and wait for NMIMS or should I go for it?? If yes then I would like to know that how is the International business and what is the package that the college gets?

i am in a dilemma what to do next should i go for mba or should i focus on btech.
i don't know why but somewhere in my heart i have a crave to study in iims .money might be one of the factor why i want that but its true i want to do that for sheer pleasure and satisfaction. might be i thing so becoz i haven't makeup to iit.

I got 96.8 in CAT . I have 1 yr 4 months of experience . I also have an offer from Oracle of 6.5/p.a.
I am confused as to what option should I go for .
I feel that this was not my best attempt at CAT since I was studying only for job switch since 2 months before CAT. I was not expecting such a score and did not apply for any college .
I am an MCA and MBA would be my second PG degree.
So I feel I should make the switch to Oracle as it is a good offer , increase my experience/profile and have a go at CAT again next year as I feel I can do much better.
For MBA I have now applied to MICA. I have a call from IIM Ranchi for PGDHRM. I made the first short list for IIM K . My score in X is 90 and in XII is 77.6. So i don't think i will make it to GD/PI shortlist.
I have these doubts
-What would be a better option , to try get the best possible college now or make the switch and try for MBA next year.(If i don't preapre for GD/PI for Ranchi or MICA now , i will try and get a better offer than Oracle). Besides I am also not sure about investing 2 years in IIM Ranchi , as I have a good job offer.
-How good is MICA for communication/advertising fields. These two fields interest me the most .
Please help , I am thoroughly confused.

First of all, do some introspection. You should not aim for IIMs just because you did not make it to an IIT. Right now, I would suggest you concentrate in your branch. You can always aim for an MBA later on. And you definitely do not need 3 years to prepare for MBA entrance exams. It would be wise not to ignore your subjects right now.
Money is definitely a major motivator. No harm in accepting that fact. But do some research first before you dive in head on. All the best.

Presently, i am getting a job in manufacturing analytics, in bangalore.
I am in dilemma whether to join or not, as i am not going by my merit but by referral, but in bangalore i can have opportuinity to prepare well.
Please help what to do......

MICA would make sense. Otherwise I don't feel you should take admission in a tier 2 institute just for the sake of it. Purely from a financial standpoint, you will draw more salary at the end of 2 yrs from Oracle than what an average starting package is at a tier 2 business school. Also, the kind of maturity that you will have (due to your workex and PG degree) would be lacking in your batchmates and it won't be a good learning experience for u.

I feel you should take the job. Analytics as a skill set will help you not only in MBA but beyond.
IF everyone gets selected at IBSAT.then may be selection occurs at GD PI round. is it worth trying for icfai hyderabad.i am having 5 years of experience in sales.should i go for it.i am already 30.should i try for cat next year.
pagalguy ranking for icfai hyderabad is decent one i.e 51st college.i have gone thru some threads critizing the credibility of the b shcool. i am bit worried.is there some one to throw light on certain aspects of the college.i have one of my cousins who passed out from icfai hyderabad.she got her starting package of 8 lacs per annum. how difficult is the gd pi round.it would be of great help if some one studying there can share their experience.do we get the full course fee as education loan.does banks ask for collateral security?.kindly reply soon.is IBS hyderabad aicte recognized?.i think it has got deemed university status.notsure

I need some help from you guys.
I am fresh mechanical engineering graduate. I got into TCS through campus recruitment and am awaiting to join TCS in 2012. With all due respect to TCS, i can't see myself among the zillions of the people in TCS. Added to that usually most freshers are relegated to the bench for a long time, my friends who already joined told me. Recently, i have been offered another position of Content Writer (full-time) by a content-writing and SEO company. The pay is not much but it is not very less than TCS. I love writing and that was the reason why i pursued this opening in the first place.
Now my doubt is what is the future of Content Writing in India? How viable is at as full time career? I also am preparing for CAT, and want to do MBA in the near future because I also want to be in the thick of the business. When I get to do an MBA, how will my experience as a content writer play out? Will it give me an edge? Will it be counted as a work-ex in the first place? Would I be able to justify the madness of it all?
Any help, any light on the position of "Content Writing/-ers" will be very very appreciated.

I am Harish from Chennai. My brother is preparing for admission tests for the first time. He is doing his B.Com in Viveka. He gave his CAT last November (2011) and got 55 percentile. Also he had written NMAT (Nov 2011) and scored 161/300. He has written XAT and is awaiting the results. Also I think his score in XAT will also be not that good.
After seeing his CAT result and the cutoffs of various colleges, I fear he will not be able to make the cut in most of the well known B-schools or other institutions. I don't want him to study in so called local colleges here. My aim is for him to get into a reputed institution. So what course of action can I take. Also he is a bit confused in deciding on the colleges. It would be better if anybody can help sorting this issue out.
