Hi Guys,

I will be having 3 years of work ex in this Aug. last year was my first attempt at CAT. I secured 93.01% ile with minimal prep. I want to give a last and final attempt at CAT in 2013 and that's why I am planning to quit by the 2nd week of Aug to dedicate all my time for MBA preparation. My work load is exhaustive and I do not get time to study after coming from work.
My question here is firstly should I quit? Not because I fear that I wont get another Job but because I fear that I might be grilled during the interview.
Will I be rejected during the interview stages on the basis of my step of quitting the Job?
@niknikme55 Coursera ! Take up an online course. It's free and they are tied up with some great universities too :)

my personal take is

1. do not quit....rather start prep from now on...so that u can get more no. of days as u mentioned u cand do much of prep coming back from work...
2. try to utilize holidays for prep...
3. try to stay awake 1 extra hr at least for studies if normal routine doesnt permit any time at all...
4. leaving job has a negative connotation ...both for interview panel and for any recruiter pre n post mba..... cz it only shows u cant handle pressure or do multitasking...... cz throughout your lifetime u hv to explain this gap.

so would prefer if u continue job n try to squeeze in some extra hours as and when possible...as such preparation for cat does nto need fixed hours of study...prepare as and when you feel comfortable

As suggested by @lopamudra0303 .... her points are totally right..try to dedicate less time in your work and channel it towards your study..you can join online courses and give mock-cat online on the go while being in office..plus you can easily read articles in office..utilize ur holidays...take a sick leave before cat

don't quit the job.. it's really tough to explain why did u leave the job than to explain bad rating ( which u might get because of not dedicating urself in job )
@PagaLDroid Dude! Don't leave your job!
I am pretty much in the same boat as you are and leaving your job is more of a negative decision than a positive one.
Breathe in and out once and decide that you will give it your all. You need to get inspired to make it work this time around. Put in as much as you can. But don't leave your job.

CAT and MBA is not in your hands, so whatever the results may be at the end of your new preparation, you shouold have a plan B ready---and that is your job.

Give it your all this time and hope for the best! cheers!
@niknikme55 Hey dude!
Look for Sunstone Business School online courses in addition to the coursea.com mention by a fellow puy.

I have attended a course with them and it is pretty helpful.

Try it out and let me kknow if it helped :)

Cheers!

Hello Friends

I am a little worried. Please help me with your suggestions.

I was selected as bank PO in one of the government organisation. I did all the paper formalities and signed a 2 lac bond and 3 months notice period clause. The oragnisation wanted original certificate to be submitted to them. I was having attested xerox of certicate but not the original certificate. So I signed an undertaking that I will submit my original within a week.

I got a posting and acknowledged it(but did not report to the branch). But other day I got a call from RO that my posting has changed and I have to again take the new posting orders from RO.

Because of such frequent postings I decided that I wont join the bank and mailed them that I do not want to join and consider my formalities as void. But I got a reply fom them that I cannot cancel my candidature like this and I need to resign in a formal way.

Now I am afraid that do I need to pay them back the bond amount( I have till now not submitted my original certificate) and will it affect my candidature in any other bank?
Friends please give me your valuable suggestions. Is there any way to settle down the issue?

@Mrudul15 Its better if you join a job right now at any PSU bank or a private company. Its better than the calls you've at hand right now.
@lopamudra0303 I am not able to decide whether I should go for a job or an MBA .
I am an engineering passout of 2012 batch.

also, in dilemma whether to go for PGDM or MBA/MMS(Master from any univ)...skeptical about scope of both....one of my family friends raised the ques and am being haunted about same...according few my father contacted made him to believe that MBA/MMS is better than PGDM.. ..so thinking about applying to mms programs or IP univ delhi...

@Connoisseur25

Need suggestions

B.Tech mech from a well know university
GPA -8.33
x: 90.6
XII: 70.6
I joined an IT major through campus placement. Nature of job - mechanical. Turned out, it was to be a mere documentation job and not even distinctly close to mech.
I worked for 14 months and virtually forced to quit after paying a huge bond money.
I decided to prepare for gate 2013 and dedicated myself to it.
Results are little bad which can't get me to any PSU and or top IIT.
I don't want to go into research or pursue a career in teaching.

I am in big confusion as what should I do now, I don't want to prepare again for gate, or do same kind of job.

Personally ,I want to go for MBA and want to sincerely prepare for it without joining anywhere, but don't know what will, being without any job for next one year have impact on my selection for a college?
@Amit1689 Hi Amit, There is no certainty that you'd get your desired bschool on the very first attempt. And even if you do, you'll face loads of questions in the MBA interview as well in future as in why sit back while you could've worked and prepared side by side. As you might well know that many many people work and prepare for MBA simultaneously.

I'm not saying you cannot crack a good bschool. But always keep a plan B as in what you are going to do if you fail in securing a bschool. You can try and get a job meanwhile, and study for CAT side by side.

Once you have signed the bond and do the paper formalities, you are considered as one of the employees of the bank. You cannot resign that way just because your postings have been a little haywire. It has to be formal way.
