Personal Dilemma Related Queries

@thinkaps Take CL/Time material and focus on mock tests(they help a lot). Take them very seriously. Also continuing the above point, i think u can take enough time out to prepare for CAT. It's not that tough, people make it while juggling hectic schedules. also sitting at home with no work will make u desperate for an MBA (a situation u shud avoid) and there wud be pressure on u to join any random b school that u convert.

thnx..dat wil be very hlpful !

how about IMS ?
which is the best for correspondence and also which test series should i go for ?

@thinkaps join time test series...i think they have the maximum no. of students. I don't have idea about IMS.

I am 27..and presently working in a psu bank...since 2 yrs...worked in it for 1 yr....how advisable will it be for me to aim for an mba next year...i'll be 28 and 4 yrs of workex..will it be an impediment for me to get placed in better cos given my age and workex...i have a decent academic reocrd and have got xlri calls last 2 yrs...coudnt convert though...i have been inclined towards mba since my graduation...somehow havent been able to make it to my dream colleges...my present work profile and location makes it even important for me to go for higher studies since i have always wanted to move into consulting/analytics profiles...advice would be helpful

Typically in Indian market scenario , more the amount of work ex you achieve better the pedigree of college you must target to get better opportunities

So Just do some analysis of what went wrong in your interviews , what could be the possible reasons . It will help you find some cracks in the wall which need to be checked .

I understand you want to target certain good colleges

1) If you have waited so long , then try give GMAT and look for international Options
2) Try for executive MBAs suitable for people above 5 years work ex (15 Months MBA prog)

Hope it helps a little

@thinkaps : test series IMO- Career Launcher is good in terms of quality,
TIME is good for the no. of students who take it
BYJU for its QA n DI....
IMS for its VA part.......
i suggest u enroll for 1 or 2 test series and instead of giving all 20 of both- take just 5-7 from each.....
@thinkaps : i have no idea about correspondence courses, but u can get the material of any institute from students who have already taken CAT last year and r enrolling for MBA this year....
again i would suggest go thru 1 entire set of material of any class TIME/IMS/CL and you would be fine simultaneously giving mocks in the test series.....

u have to have good grasp of the basics n fundamental concepts over anything at all :)

For VA- read a lot, anything initially and once u like it, move to heavy stuff and articles/editorials from newspapers like Hindu, Telegraph, NYT, etc
@lio17 : i am thinking of goin for IMS ka stuff n wid dat test series of both IMS n TIMES....thnx for ur inputs
guys n gals, if u want any advice pls instead of PMing me , post ur queries here 😃 this thread is for all of u and via this thread ur query (I am just an aspirant like all of u albeit with a lil more experience 😛 😉 ) will reach more ppl hence more advice and if sum1 has a similar query as urs, it helps him/her as well :)

SO PLS POST HERE 😃

Pls don't have test series and coaching discussion here. I think separate threads exist for such discussion.

B.E(EEE) : 70%(Not so famous univ)
Work Exp : 3+ years in a Tier 1 IT Company

Also, Kindly suggest the Score to get a call from the above mentioned Univ.

der is no "RIGHT TIME" to give GMAT...prepare well n when u feel confident..u can take d exams...also keep in mind most colleges abroad prefer exp...so u can gain a yr or more of extra exp if u want.............also after 5 yrs work ex...u can b eligible for indian executive mba's which also accept gmat....so u can time ur exam accordingly

@thinkaps : for coaching material pls refer to this thread:

@vision_twist hey.. even i got capital markets this year.. dint took admission though.. reason- one of my frnd is about to finish his mba-bm from nmims.. acc to him, half of the bm and cm students are not placed.. he himself is one.. he even said that people in charge of placements and all are biased towards core people.. anyways what i have seen on many forums is that u should join capital markets if u have interest in that and u should forget ROI.. i was not sure of that and therefore, i dint took admission.. and rest assured, avg pck is nowhere close to 8.5 for cm.. Since u have taken admission for now, i would suggest you to go thru some topics relevant to the course, try to speak to some ppl studying the same course,,as u still have some time before the last date for refund application ends.. atb..

I got through LBSIM this year.I am confused now to join the college or go for CAT next year. Also expecting calls from GIM and Nirma.I am not asking to compare the colleges here but shall i join LBSIM keeping in mind the roi part. I am currently at accenture and a 2012 batch passout!!

@dreams_2012 I can understand ur situation quite well as i am myself going through this thing. A senior might reply to ur query better but i feel if you think u can get a better CAT percentile nd get calls from IIM,MDI,SPJAIn and the likes then u should surely continue ur job. In my case i had only one vision,an IIM. this year i got just the new IIM calls(even i am not sure of what to do if i convert). And i dint apply anywhere else. Last year i was too desperate and almost joined a college which i am not naming(its not in ur list, but similar tier) and i am glad i dint join. but having said that i think a lot of it has to do with ur expectations from the MBA.
