@RaJaT_76 :Regarding placement,I talked to some of CM senior as well as CORE seniors. They told me that in CM 15 r unplaced(out of 60),while in BM 30 r unplaced(out of 60).And told that even condition for Core is nt better.Further they told me that avg salary diff is of 1 lacs. For ex, avg salary fr core people r 9-10 lpa, while for CM,it is 8-9 lpa.I have also talked to one of senior who won CFA challenger. He told me abt the internal politics inside the college.Core has 18 people have in placecomm while CM have only 3.But simultaneously told that long-term scope is better in CM as compared to finance.I decided not to drop further for 4th year and take an admission in my single call.
wich college u r talkin
@gemini11 NMIMS has core, capital markets and banking mba

Hi everyone,

I am little confused about my further studies and hence need guidance...Here is my profile which is below average.

10th- 50% cbse (2003)
12th- 66% cbse (2005)commerce
Grad- 42% B.comp Delhi univ.(correspondence) (2009)
Grad repeated- 73% B.com Pass (correspondence from tier3 univ.) (2012)

Work ex- small family garment business 3 years( but b schools wont consider it.)

I have taken CAT this year but didnt get any fruitful result, now i am little double minded weather to do a professional study like CA or continue with CAT prep for coming season.

I know both are very succesful degree/certificates ..but few negative things that are coming to my mind considering my week profile.

MBA- Even if i get call from good colleges in the coming season how will i convert them with this profile, more over since both my graduations were in correspodence they will consider it as no work ex though i joined my family business later.

CA- Mandatory internship for 3 years with less than 5k salary per month. Also this is the minimum that to be a CA it can take 4 or 5 years to if i dont clear it in my 1st attempt.

At present my age is 25, so even age is also not in my side.

So kindly help me seniors, people who have gone through this, people who are at similar condition or anyone.

Thanks in advance.

Currently NM core has 300 students and CM has 60 students hence their is still EQUAL Proportional participation from both the courses of 6:1. All other points I dont challenge though. :)
Puys plz help me on this..I have taken admission for Capital Markets at NMIMS. Now, I have been selected for Banking Management...Being an engineering fresher which course should i take up ? How are the placements in both ? Could you plz mention the pros and cons of these two courses ?

huh...Mr.Jha get your facts right here. average package is not 8-9 for CM ...It's much less then that. (dont console yourself now 😛 ) & What makes u say long-term scope of CM is better then core-finance ?? :wow:
- core-finance guys can apply in varied jobs in finance sector but CM guys cant
- core-finance has anyday a better package,learning & experiences.
--------
dude, this college has a wonderfule brand just coz of core. & itz quite understandable aswell ...
-------------
saare core walla milke marenge ...bhag ja usse pehle yaha se 😛
@gs4890 What is the avg package then for CM ?

@anandkroy I can see two options. First you can join an IT job (which I think is relatively easier to find) and then take the MBA entrance test after a couple of years. Second, you can join ICICI bank PO. Many tier-2 MBA grads join as AM1, so it is not that bad. You can work your way up and maybe after you are done with the bond period, you can do a 1 yr MBA from a good business school in India or an MBA abroad.

@anandkroy : your PO stint at ICICI will be a superb value-add to your profile and can help you a lot, especially at colleges like SPJ. But, your academics will surely let you down if you are from General category. Unless you score superb high %ile(99.5+), you wont get a call from any old IIMs(Only C and L). New IIMs will call you depending on your %ile. But, there are loads of other good colleges - mainly private that don't give acads heavy weightage (FMS, MDI, NITIE, XIMB, XLRI, VGSoM, IMT). You can get calls and can convert if you score 98+ at the least.

But if you have 5 years of Work Ex, I am afraid no one will take you, plus you have a year gap. That will put you at a serious disadvantage. So better try for EMBA..

Suggestions from my Experience

@vampgm 5 yr experience is not good to go into this kind of colleges????
@anandkroy They won't prefer people with so much workex
@anandkroy : what @sb29 is true..most top colleges prefer at the most guys with 3 years work ex, unless your work ex is too good to be ignored..

Hi, IMO - Join this college only if you do no have any other option. Also, consider this, if you want to do an MBA from this insti or can you do better next year. Job is always an option & at 23 years you have a lot of time. 😃
