I would like to get opinion of people on my current predicament. I'm working currently as an intern for a very reputed company. I'am 2012 grad in CS Engg. I could be made permanent anytime in this year depending on how my performance is , the requirement of my Business Unit. The package will around 8 LPA.
Currently after getting 96.28 in CAT I had following calls:
FORE, IMI, MBE, GIM, MIB/MhROD, MDI .
IMI - Reject
FORE -PGDM convert
MBE - waitlisted at number 61 after update
GIM - awaiting result
MIB/MHROD - awaiting result
MDI- awaiting result (though i doubt i will get PGDM and i dont wanna do PGPIM from here)
So, should i aim at getting permanent and try again next year etc. Or take up one among these ??

I would suggest that you work hard for getting the Offer of 8 lakhs. And then trying in the coming years for colleges like IIM's, XL, MDI, etc.

It took me a while to craft this message please do read it , its very important .
hey guys i seriously need some carrier advice . I may sound lame but you being already done with your MBA , now a part of industry ,i have to tell you my mind is playing games with me , I have interest in tech side and management side (more inclined to management though) . Very recently i thought of giving CAT a try but i came to know that pursuing a MBA from abroad s more worth than any school from india (counting out ISB and IIM Ahmedabad ). My chances of securing a berth in IIM - A are very feeble as my graduation aggregate is just 73% . Even if i score high in CAT mostly i may not be receiving calls from IIM A or B , B being bangalore . So I have to settle myself with rest of IIMs old and new , of which new ones are not a better option .
I also gave a lot of thinking about GMAT . If I have to do MBA abroad i want to do it in ivy league colleges (kellogg,INSEAD,university of toronto , ISB, duke etc ) as you know the tution fee is expensive and until yo study in a good college you are prospects will be good . But i have lot of concerns when i think about GMAT .In my research i have found out that the avg work experience of any class in good univs abroad is 4 to 5 years . And while applying you may have known that the applicant should submit two essays. These essays are to written in such a way that they have to elucidate what leadership related activities you did in your life till now . So i can say i have few such activities on my name but i dont think they are enough to get me through the selection process .
What should i do now ? 1.Work for 4 more years (by the way coming june i will have one year experience in IT ) ?
2.Appear for cat ? and struggle hard to crack it , which makes me to leave my abrod mba dreams .
3.This option will be tricky . Like i said i have interest even in technology . So do a "MS in electronics from USA" , work there for 3 to 5 years and then apply for a MBA college . While doing MS including the academics i will also do some other ECA activities to fill the voids in my profile . Is it worth to do all this ?
My profile is not as robust as i want it to be to apply for good colleges till date. 10th - 90% 12th - 94% graduation - 73%(ECE) eca - decent(public speaking etc) work experience till date - 9 months (Software developer - IT @TCS)
SO which option is better (give a deep thought about the 3rd option ) ? I need your advice on this ?Thank you .
As I am not interested in engineering I want to change my career track to finance , so want to apply for MIM and MS In finance programs in Europe. My main intent of doing a MS in Finance/ MIM is getting a job in the US or Europe. I have a keen interest in finance & that is the ONLY field i want to get into. My profile is X- 84% XII-84% B.E(comp. Science)- 66% [ I had many backlogs about 10 ] Will graduate in June 2013 Extra curriculum Activities: Not much Work Exp: nill Suppose this is my profile when I apply for 2014 class ( I will be taking a year break) , will I be eligible to get admission top top Programs like HEC Paris or St. Gallen or any other top colleges given I had many backlogs in engineering and have no work exp. Are there any similar programs India which provide Ms in Finance and are good

What is the usual criteria/process for summer intern recruitment? I heard that people with work experience of 2+ years are screened out in Marketing/Finance domain ( not sure if it really happens). I have 2.5+ work exp 😞

Its just this nagging feeling that make me think What went wrong for me,and this terrible feeling that ,what if i wont be able to fulfill my dream of doing an MBA from a renowned college and after 2 years have a fabulous graduation ceremony with black coat and a black graduation hat (or what ever they call it..),and keep wandering from one shitty job to another and not doing anything worthy..

I am a fresher who finishes grad in 2013. This is my profile. X 79 XII 55 Grad 72. Cat 2012 88 XAT 2013 94 Converted IMNU, and seems like this would be the only convert I have this year. Is IMNU worth it? Or considering I am a fresher I should drop a year and prepare again? My 12th marks played spoilsport in a lot of places this year so that is a problem. I want to specialize in Marketing/Systems. So reviews about IMNU in context of this. Any help would be appreciated puys. Thanx!
I have 2.5 yrs exp in IT with avg acads and extra curricular
Got calls from IMT-G DCP, IMI w/l , MBE, KJ(yet to be interviewed)..
I am looking for finance oriented roles.
Will the converted colleges provide an opportunity in the desired sector or writing CAT 2013 will be better, though i am a bit apprehensive about writing CAT this year coz of my work ex ?

Knowledge of SAS, R and Excel will certainly help you get an edge as far as getting great roles in Analytics/ Market Research/Marketing firms post your MBA. Great skills to have very early on in your career.

I had calls from ABCL, but unfortunately couldn't convert ABC. I have secured admission in IIM Lucknow, but I am very much confused as what to join IIM Lucknow or join Flipkart as a management trainee and then retry for ABC next year. Is it good to go as a fresher or gain work ex and then retry.
