hi all, i will be joinning iit madras this year. and if i can stay another month and a half i can get 2 years work ex before joining the coll.. what are the benefites of having 24 months (2 yrs work ex) over 23 months work ex (that is if i decide to go by this month end).. also will 2 yrs work ex in IT, prevent me from being recruited to non - it companies.. or will i be preferred oly by IT companies.. kindly help.. in a dilemma.. and is the 2 year work-ex in IT considered valuable by non IT companies for salary tab etc..

I have a 7.9 years of experience in IT and now I feel I should go for a MBA.I have two choices -
a) Go for a regular 2 year course
b) Go for a 1 year/exec MBA course.
While the first one seems not a very good option with such work ex, what are the good institutes I can go for 1 year/exec MBA? Also I do not have much in extra curricular or a strong acads to back up with, so is it worth a shot?
Also, are the 1 year/exec MBA courses coupled with placements too?
Please help.
You seem to be sweetly placed for an MBA. Let me give you a bit of perspective on the different formats of MBA's - US universities:
1. Executive MBA : Gives a snapshot of the different aspects of business. Is not thorough and is advisable for candidates who have around 10 years of experience and have worked in the different areas of business. Usually has classes on weekends
2. 1 Year MBA : Is a full time MBA course, which is completed in 1 year. Example : Lally 1 Year MBA, - completed in 3 semesters, Fall, Spring and Summer, gives students options of taking 4 electives in addition to the core courses. Internship is not allowed in this format as students take the summer semester instead of the internship.
3. 2 Year MBA : Is again a full time program, which is completed in 4 semesters - Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring. This type of program gives students more electives to choose. Students usually do an intership in the summer semester

I am working as a Sales Engineer in a small firm from last 7 months.I completed my graduation in mech engg getting 61.1 % .I have serious MBA aspirations and preparing for it,therefore will also leave my job in september for hardcore preparation.Yesterday only I saw a certificate programme in management that will be conducted in IIT Delhi from june to sep.For thAt I wud have to leave my job which isnt a big deterrent if the course is good(?).Also my CAT'13 plans will remain intact.Need some advice ppl.
I have 81.23% in SSC and 53% in HSC and 55% in Graduation(just got my results). I am planning to go for CAT and CMAT 2013 and start my MBA term from 2014 batch in Marketing(this will mean a gap of 1 year) Should i not do any job right now and just concentrate whole-heartedly on getting best in CAT and CMAT and get into Top Bschool or do a full time job(as there are just 4 months remaining for CMAT exam) I want a very good B-School. Please help.

I have always been a good student but couldn't make it to IIT..Got AIR 8366 in AIEEE, didn't fill many colleges in 1st counselling, gambled on 2nd counselling to get into IIIT Allahabad..Missed IIIT, but got NIT Allahabad in 2nd, only to find out that I would get Bio-Tech at that rank...My heart didn't allow me to enroll into Bio-Tech..So, as stupid as it could get, I enrolled in State Technical university...At the end of 4 years, got placed in IT like everyone else..Wrote CAT 2012 with 2 months prep, without any coaching or Test Series...secured 98.05 %....Calls from SPJain, NITIE, new IIMs, MDI but converts from nowhere..All my friends and relatives over-rate me(at least I think so) that you can make it big, you deserve much more..

I want to join Indian automobile industry in marketing field...Is there a possibility of an IT guy fitting into marketing in non IT companies? In every interview, I said this that I want to do my MBA to join auto industry...The interviews went well but no insti selected me..Still not sure why...Is there any negative impact on the interviewers if the interviewee says that he wants to switch domain??
Can I make it next year with the same motive? Is auto industry that bad in compensation as ppl say?? I want to achieve 100% of my potential as I am tired now of hearing that I have potential to make it big..And I don't want to repeat the mistakes at the time of choosing grad colg..

hello guys.. m in confusion nw. my profile is 10th-86% 12th-52% btech in cse-67%. m a 2012 passout student.. got placed in an it company bt did nt join to prepare 4 mba.. got calls frm siib-p, sibm-b, siom-nashik, bim- trichy and some more colleges. bt waitlisted in sibm-b n siib-p. and converted siom-nashik. i hv taken admission in siom-nashik. as i hv wasted one yr after btech, i hv 2 take admission in mba dis yr only. so being a cse guy(fresher) is it a gud decision 2 take admission in siom-nashik as it is completely operations?? siom-nashik also provides minor in marketing, finance n hr though major wil be operations.

Hi , I was having 30 month of IT workex until Jan'13 (when i quit 
).
After an ok performance in CAT '12 , Am targeting CAT'13 with full power.👍
The reason i quit IT was to reduce the disadvantage of having a monotonous 4 year IT workex(till admissions in 2014) which wud get me confined to a particular section of profiles post MBA.
My current plan for next 12 months apart from studies is to get my sidelined hobbies some traction.
My interests lie in food & animation/illustrations. 😁
Am currently working on development of an android based food-app.The app when finished will atleast be downloaded by my friends so expecting atleast 200+ downloads at start.
Also at same time am preparing to launch a web based design studio to brand & market my illustrations under it.(promotion wud be predominantly on facebook) It would also be open to artwork requests from people.
In both cases am the sole person working , both would have dedicated websites & both would have a facebook page to connect with the people. There may or may not be any income.😐
Now coz i wont have any experience letter , no salary slips nothing.....All i can show is the No. of downloads of my app on android market & No. of facebook page likes for my design studio, to certify my efforts. 
Will all this be considered as a addon to my profile??😃 ..

I am in a great dilemma so please help me . I am an electrical engineer with 21 months of experience in HCL Technologies. I worked in hardware domain and i have completed MBA 1st year (NMIMS) and currently i am doing my internship in Coca cola. My internship mostly focus on operations part and some part of costing. Initially i have chosen Finance as specialization but now i am contemplating whether i should go for operations as my CGPA is not high which is a prerequisite for Finance. Also my previous work-ex and internship is no where related to finance. Also i want to work in IT Industry followed by FMCG or Aviation.My interest is equal for finance and operations. Please suggest whether i should stick with finance or move to operation??????????
I am from Mumbai University... where these faggots tell us fom the start of engg that 4th is the most imp. and we need to focus on 4th yr the most... as the aggre of 4th yr only comes on the passing certificate..
so my degree certificate percentage is 68.2%
but full sem1-sem8 aggre is 59.95%
my qstn to you is for MBA in mumbai/pune through CMAT,CAT,XAT.. .. we need to show our degree percentage which is put on the degree passing certificate or the entire aggre of sem1-sem8 ??
i believe only MU/PU students can answer it better.... am in a big fix here.. 😞
Right now i am in worst situation Passout 2012 Btech cse... not joined the campus placement thinking that i'll be the change (how stupid i am at that time) and joined CL cp delhi for Cat13 preparation but with passage of time im feeling bad with my decisions.... currently i dont believe im going to get any good %ile in Cat....
So started giving some government job exams that to also sucks big time SBI PO 17 lakh aspirants wtf... ssc cgl whole year long process...😠 psu ahh....
Because of CAT and GMAT dreams i didnt concentrated on any languages in the graduation.... so cant even take up any job right now 😠😠
All in all im in mid way struck, totally fucked up... dont know what should i do....
PS: i have a GMAT, CAT, C, JAVA core,GATE,Reasoning Books on my desk and i cant decide where to start with....what to do with my life and worst thing is i am getting older day by day.😟😠😠 and this thing is killing me... 😞 😞

I am a B.tech (2012 pass-out) with the branch Production engg..
From my college , I got placed in a software MNC .... joined that company and worked over there for around 4 months. But, having a core background , I didn't like the job and wanted to join core sector. I left that company and came back to home.
I cleared written test of a public sector company, appeared for GD PI but couldn't make to the final merit list..
Now , I'm preparing again for core exams viz., PSUs and IES (and side by side appearing for other non-tech exams too)...
I wanted to join coaching in delhi for IES but due to some reason, I am facing financial problem right now... so can't afford to join any coaching.
sometimes, I get frustrated because of my neighbors, relatives and all... they always keep asking tab beta kya kar rahe ho aajkal.. suna tha tumhara kahin placement hua tha ......

Myself Nishant and I have 89% in 10, 73% in 12th ,70% in B.Tech from a state govt. college and 2 years of work-ex in a reputed IT company. I have already started preparing for CAT (95%ile in CAT 2012)and GMAT.Is there anyhow I might make it into IIM A,B,C & L ? What are the other options that I can aim for?
P.S. I am willing to put in every effort possible. But I need to make this crystal clear because this would be my last attempt for an MBA failing which I will join the SSC inspector Job I have been selected for and start preparing for IAS where my past records won't haunt me this much?
