By next year i will be having 4 years of workex ( 1 year in animation & 3 years in IT) .. i am targetting to pursue MBA from top tier colleges like JB , SJSOM etc. Am very much looking forward to pursuing MBA as i believe its a great great learning opportunity rather than a pay package degree. 🍻
am already in the race to crack the entrance for 2 year MBA .. but few people are saying since i wud have 4 year workex in 2014 , it is not good to study for 2 years rather go for executive later.. 😟
but i feel a 2 year mba will teach & groom me much better now rather than executive mba later .. what do you guys think ?? is 4 year workex really bit too much for 2 yr mba ?? ... thank you 😃

Hi, I did electrical engineering(passed out in 2010 with 75%), worked from aug 2010 to june 2012 in an IT company(MSat) as a software developer, was also part of the company's internal event management team. I then pursued a post grad diploma in event mngmnt and media from july 2012 to may 2013(present). At the same time I worked in an event management company from sept 2012 to march 2013. Presently I amunemployed. With the kind of credentials I have, my parents expect me to earn atleast 25k a month. But the event field, for my experience hardly pays 12k/month. I was advised to take up an mba/ job as a hr recruiter. I have scored 90% in 10th(CBSE), 80% in 12th(pre university). Kindly share your inputs, on what my next step is to be.
I passed my B.Tech in 2009,Then joined a small institute as a trainer ,now working in IT field since April 2010(4 years of experience overall). My profile is as below- 10th-69%(U.P.Board)12th-76%(U.P.Board)B.Tech-72%(U.P.T.U.,Gov. College)Salary Package-6 lac/anmExtra Curricular-I think good(but not sure which kind of EC require for good profile. For ex-I have my prizes at college level in various things, participated in national level fest at IIT Kanpur etc.)I want to pursue MBA,Can any one suggest me ,for IIMs ,ISB,GMAT or any top notch college is this profile is good enough. If yes Please guide how should I proceed .If NO please suggest me the colleges ,I should target.
Yes, there are few companies that have some age limits. But that should not make you worried. Try to take the best out of whatever opportunities you get. And you will get ample of them. ATB.. 😃
I am a Medical grad form India. I completed my MBBS in 2009. I have completed one year of internship in India. Worked on research projects and a Medical officer at a local hospital. I have 2 months of visiting medical student experience at Harvard Medical school. I am currently working as a data manager and research assistant at a cancer center. I am also handling some clinical trials here.
Over the years, I have realised that my interest lies more in the administrative part of healthcare. Hence, I decided to pursure MBA. What are my prospects ?
I am a novice and this is one of the fist forums I have joined. I am very positive about pursuing MBA. Can you please guide me on how to begin ?
I have already Posted my Dilemma in this Forum But it is slightly changed so Kindly bear with my Query for once more ....

This is My current situation ... Albeit i have a good pay package But i never enjoyed my stay at this Govt Organisation So WHAT TO DO NEXT ??? QUESTION Always POP in My Mind
Although i struggled very Hard to Choose a Further Career Option Between IAS and CAT .. Finally i have decided that i will Go with CAT ...
So my doubts are ..
1. What are the chances of getting a Good Placement if Somebody having almost 3+ exp as an IT professional From Govt. PSU in Manufacturing Domain and Petroleum sector.. and If he does his MBA form Tier -1 Colleges..
2.which MBA Specialization will be best Suited For Him.. (Spl interest to Finance ..)
3. Chances for Excel in Finance Domain ? 4.
4.Suppose if he will not be able to get Admission This year whether it will be wise decision to go For CAT Next Year (Becoz at that Time he will be having 4 + Work Ex .. and considering the placement scenario Will the 4 yr Work Ex will be able to fetch him a Good Job ??
P.S
a) Money is not the Biggest factor for deciding good placement But he has to support a Family Too.
b)he will have to take loan to do His MBA.
c)Currently Due to a Stable and Avg paying Job it is very hard to convince his family to go for MBA after Resigning his current Job.
Hi guys, I have almost 2 years of experience, with more than 1 year of experience in financial research - writing research reports, making pitch books, financial modelling etc. My first job in Financial research was with Indxx Capital Management, where I worked as an Analyst and then Senior Analyst in ETFs and Equity research space (Non indian markets). Then, I got mislead by the false promises of my current employer and joined as an Associate. However, job responsibilities became more of a "search data on google - enter it into preformatted templates"..I might be able to find another job which is in line with my earlier responsibilities. However, I really really want to get into a financial research role in Indian stock markets space. What path should I follow/how should I go about it?..since clearly, firms tracking Indian markets either directly recruit from Bschools or take analysts with earlier experience in this space. Any suggestions?? I am really out of ideas. Please help me out...
I had completed my BE 2012. My joining in an MNC is scheduled in Aug 2013. So a year is wasted my company doing online training! Now i want you all to shoot my confusion.I was willing to do mba with work ex of 2 yrs but my joining was nt cnfirmed so i am planning to give cat/cmat 2013. So would it reflect my 2 yrs of gap during placement in mba or not?? or what other option should i try .. Also can you give me idea about CFA ,CFP ,FRM,,etc....what are pre-requisites for all such things??? Waiting for responses!!
1) mba
2) job Skip

If you can get an employment letter for the period you did your online training then you can get 2 years work exp benefit. Else only the actual period after you join....
If you are sitting idle then can go for certifications to add to your knowledge.. This would help you in your admissions too!

I have been working in software company since last 45 months. Its been a year I have been looking to get out of IT.I know this is not the sector where i want to work into.So I have given CAT'12 and CMAT'13.CAT score is ok but I've got 99.7 percentile in CMAT.I belong to OHU category but my chances look bleak since DTE has scrapped GD/PI also they wont be considering workex and acad points. With this,I am probably out of '13 season.Due to family reasons,I will have to complete my post graduation by mid-2015.I am not sure if I am eligible for 1 year MBA course. Experts, can you please advise me which exams should I opt for?Which are colleges I still can target(so that I'll complete it by 2015)? Some additional points: ready to go outside India,Have good acads (85+)
Specialization,I am interested in,:Finance,Enterpreneurship and public policy

Currently working in an IT firm in BFS domain. Will have 3.5 years experience by the time i attend interviews next year.
My interest is to switch to finance. Also pursuing for few certifications alongside.
Will the amount of work ex will pose a problem for fin placements ? For which i am planning to quit my job. Also come June and I will start a live project in fin.
Should I continue pursuing live project/ internships in finance while preparing for CAT '13
OR
continue with my job ?
Though I want to quit my job and pursue my interests still need some advice.
