friends i need ur valuable suggestions , regarding my next step
My Profile:
Xth- 86
XIIth- 79
Graduation (B.Tech)- 59.90 %
Average Extra curricular records.
CAT 2011: 72.56 %ile
CAT 2012: 86.65 %ile
SNAP 2012: 87
CMAT: 234
Colleges: NIRMA,BIMTECH,SIIB,SITM,SIBM-B all r waiting (Unable to convert atleast 1 )
I completed my graduation in 2012 and dropped 1 year for CAT-12 but got only 86 prcntile in it.
And Now it is june'13 and i am still in dilemma whether to go for CAT-13 or pick up a job.
Want to do mba in FINANCE.
Need suggestion should i join a job or go for the exam straight??
Option 1: Join MBA College now (Not From Top Lists). But Then Placements and ROI is Big Factor.
And i Belive that i can get good College and can score very well in Coming exams but then This Gap is Killing me......I am Not Satisfied in taking admission to some tier 2 college.
Option 2: Find Job and Try for CAT'13 (But aftr 1 yr How to find job and which type of job do i do now ?????
Option 3: Take Admission in Tier 2 College and Prepare For CAT/Other MBA exams and Try for Better Colleges (But I am afraid Its Possible or not ?)
P.S Gave SBI PO but Not Cleared for GD/PI, Waiting For LIC AAO Results, Gave IBPS Clerical but Missed Cutoff by 0.10 %, Gave IBPS SO But Due to Less Vaccancies I dont think i'll make it.
Overall this 1 yr went extremely Bad for me. Felling Very Bad about this....:( 😞
Plzz Suggest Something.....It will be Vryy Helpful.
Guys , i have some serious doubts , plz kindly clear it ..
1) In my 10th i got 78% and in 12th 69 % , but in UG BE (CSE) i got 62 % but Second Class , right now i have 3.5 years experience in IT , now i want to do a MBA HR .. Will the Second class in UG will be of any problem in MBA placements ?
2) I have shortlisted 3 colleges LIBA , SRM and VIT ...Which of the 3 colleges are good for placements , Is VIT Chennai Campus good ?
3) I am 25 now , when i complete MBA i will be around 27-28 , so at that time will age be a factor in placements ? or even getting jobs from Job Portals like Naukri / Monster etc ..
I have these 3 main doubts...Waiting for your replies , as i need to decide on this ...Its a crucial time for me...so plz reply
SOS
I have completed my third year electronics engg (mumbai univ).
My profile: 10th: 92, 12th:86, engg: 75 aggr.
I am one of those who are bugged with this cliche question: GATE or CAT (because i want to pursue PG..that much i am sure about myself)? On asking people i hav been getting the same trite response: "Simple.Determine your interests; love for tech -> gate, love for administrative role -> cat"
But "determination of interest" is exactly where the problem lies in my case. I feel equal affinity towards both and feel both skills(tech and mgmt) are equally necessary.
I am presenting my point of view for opting for either of the exams.
I would be really obliged if sm1 evaluates my arguments and guides me in making the right decision:
GATE: becz
1) My IIT dream had to be abandoned as i dint get good enuf score at jee, so its my chance to redeem that dream in a way
2) I do actually like "some" of my technical subjects esp digital electronics part and i enjoy learning them. I dont hate/loathe anything.
3) mumbai univ + private colg= crush the joy of learning and master rote work
At IITs its sure going to be different and i believe that if i manage to get there, i will get the feeling of accomplishment..of being an "engineer" in true sense and atleast then i would b academically somewhat on the same pedestal as the btechs from other premier instis
4) good gate score will give me a chance to apply for PSUs
5) i feel that engineers are people driving innovation everywhere...i would really love to contribute to that field (R n D)....(ev1 if i go for mba..i am not going into finance / hr for sure)
6) gate prep will help me in technical interviews
7) i can always go for an mba later but mtech later is gona b tough
CAT: becz
1) I have been a person who has participated in loads of extracurriculars since school, also i am good at communication and presentation and analysis...I enjoy interacting with poeple
So i feel that despite of all my aspirations to be "engineer" maybe my personality is more suited for mgmt
+I am afraid that though i am good at my studies i am not good enuf to make a mark in tech field
+ i hav read lots abt the activity filled life at b schools..and i find it alluring
2) the exam doesnt require me to revise the subjs that i have long forgotten and am done with
3) the prep will help me sail thru aptis
4) i wish to get opportunities to travel places all over the world...managers get an early opportunity/ higher pay for that as compared to engineers..dont they?
I know some of my reasons may be weird or insubstantial..but thats what i am seeking help for..
*for knowing where i am thinking wrong
*what are the traits that i must have to succeed in either of the fields
*what are the factors i should really consider while making the decision & which is the right path to take
ps: 1) till now i hav been trying to juggle preparation for both..but its not working..and time is running out..so i am scared
2) i hav this gut feeling that i will end up as a professor/ mentor at some point in my life becz i like teaching field....but again i can teach mgmt as well as tech..so the dilema remains 😁
3) or should i just opt for a job and leave the decision for later?
4) For all those who have patiently read til here
A BIG THANKS 😃
Hi Puys,To those who have done their MBA after 2-3 years work ex, how hard is it to get back to studying ?Also i'm finding it difficult to search through PG. The site is more confusing (imo). How do i search within discussion threads ?
Good afternoon to all,
My name is B.V.RAVINDRA PRASAD REDDY ,completed b.tech in 2012 in Electronics and Communication Engineering from JNTU - Hyderabad with 73.78%. I have completed my SSC (X class)in 2004 with 84.50% and joined in Intermediate in BIOLOGY - PHYSICS - CHEMISTRY (Bi.P.C) stream and completed it with 79.50 % in the year 2006.
Later I joined in Bachelor of science (B.Sc)in Biochemistry , chemistry , botany specialization .Due to my financial conditions at that time, after the completion of my first year, I discontinued it and joined in a coaching program to change to MATHS -PHYSICS -CHEMISTRY (M.P.C). I took maths exams of all 4 papers (2 from 1st year and 2 from 2nd year) [ The persons who completed Bi.P.C in Intermediate can join in engineering courses by clearing all 4 mathematics exams in ANDHRA PRADESH] in a single shot and cleared with 75% and joined in Engineering in the year 2008. So I have 2 years of gap between 2006-2008 .After completion of my B.tech in 2012 and I have been searching for a job till today but I could not get a job .One more year got down.
With this totally I have 3 years of gap during my academics. Is that become any negative for my CAT exam?I want to take CAT this year.
Please provide answers for this post whether I proceed my CAT preparation or not? I am requesting you all please answer this .Because I am unable to decide whether to take the exam or not?
Will IIM's and Other top b-schools consider teaching experience as work ex? One of my friend is having 1 and half years of teaching experience in an engineering college. Now he is planning 2 take CAt-13.
hi,
i recently quit my job in an mnc after a brief stint of 2 yrs as i was not happy with my work.
preparing for cat this time again.
i am getting worried that if i stay at home and prepare without a job , i may face problems during admission processes . please give me some piece of advice.
Hi,
If anyone can please help me hout. I graduated this May and have been offered a job during my campus placement in a leading steel making company. Out of impatience i rushed to bag this job but now i am hell scared of joining this coz of very very remote location (Ah! the apathy of core sector). I am planning to do MBA but again i have not so descent academic profile () and hence i want to join MBA college (not necessarily IIM) after 2years of work-ex only. I have also tried for many other companies through off campus but didnt receive a reply from any. Can anyone suggest me what to do? As in how to escape from this job? Any short-term course which can fetch me a descent job in a good city?
Anyone here, who is familiar with School of Investment Banking/International College of financial planning? Kindly suggest me some needful advices?
Thanks in advance.

Hello puys,
Before my dilemma, A brief of my profile
10th-76%
12th-73%
B.Tech-70%(IT), 2012 batch.
Since I am a 2012 batch pass-out, it's already been an year. I could not get any placement in IT company. After then I prepared for CAT 2012, scored a decent score but not good enough to get calls.Having said that I already have 1 year gap and CAT 2013 is near.So I want to get into job so that I can carry out my expenses as well as gain some work experience on CV.
I want to know the kind of jobs/profiles which will complement my post-mba job. Currently , I am having the offer of Technical Recruiter, content writer and business development executive. I am interested in MBA in Finance/operation. So considering that what would be right profile for me.
Seeking genuine suggestions/opinions from seniors, veterans, stalwarts. Please help me out. I am in dire need of it.
Thanks
Guys , recently i was speaking with my HR of my company about me joining a MBA and doing HR as a specialization ...He told me even if you do HR from a B - school , no company would be interested in hiring a fresher as a HR , or even as a Management Trainee...and you need to start from Consultancies to gain the experience and then move to corporate , how far is it true ?? How are the placements for HR specialization guys graduating from B-Schools and from Engineering College MBAs? More questions ahead ..
Hello Friends,
I have 3.5 years of BPO experience but I am not satisfied with my job. I don't have a job satisfaction so planning to go for MBA. But I have no idea about how to start my preparation. We are not financially sound so I cant quit my job now. Please let me know how can I proceed with this. How many hours of study is required to crack this exam and what books do you suggest for me to go ahead with this.
Thanks in advance.
