i am ashish jain

ACADS_

b.com_72%
ca(inter)_78%
Nothing great in extra cirruculars...was just part of the school hockey team.

GOT A FINAL CONVERT OF SCMHRD.

Now i am not sure wedr to join it or not.(no other calls this season)
i have three options_
1.to complete my CA in 2 years time and then go on to look for a better mba option.(less preferred as i dont want to waste a lot of time for education only)
2. accept scmhrd and complete ca after coming back.
3.complete ca and then look for an m.s. from uk or us(colleges like strathclyde, edinburgh, aston etc.)

AIM_I want to take up a job for a year and then start up a venture of my own and if that doesnt work out join my dads business.

Hi I am a B.Tech(Civil),2011 from a govt. college and presently working for a reputed construction company which has a bond of 2 years.
Am pretty sure I am interested in analytics and want to switch into analytics, but due to my financial condition I cant switch now as the payable fine for breaking the bond is a big amount. So, am thinking of going into analytics once I complete my bond with the company. But the thing is my work ex will be of no use in the field of analytics and I will be going for a lesser salary package which will again be a problem for me.:banghead:
Can anyone suggest as to what I should do so that I can switch into analytics after 2 years for work ex and make my work ex count??.. as in I get a position of a 2 year experienced analyst!:|
P.S:-I already have an experience with analytics(predictive and otherwise),I just dont have the work ex to show for it.I am proficient in MS-Excel and SAS. I also have a good knowledge of GIS,which can be used for visualization of data.
Thanks

Well there are not pretty good colleges under MAT compared to the colleges u would get at the same percentile if scored in CAT. I know of people who have made it to good B schools by skipping a year to study for CAT. In this one year gap you could try to do some certifications or join in some NGO's. As far i know it wont hamper your chances as long as you can justify your gap.

All the Best

Hi puys!
I have a query ...kindly reply to it...
Actually ,I am working in a telecom sector for the past 3 years and want to do MBA from next academic session...
The thing is ,I can't leave delhi at all due to some personal reasons and hence targeting good colleges in Delhi/NCR..like FMS,IIFT,MDI,IITD etc.
For job stability and better work life balance(as I have other commitments too) ,I want job in PSU once I pass out from college....
So can I get good PSU placement from college like IIFT through which I can get PSU job offer in Dehi/NCR??
My query seems to be looking vague to many puys...but please reply as it is very important for me...
Thanks

Hey seniors I have one serious doubt. I had been working with XYZ company for the last 8 months(joined in July 2011) and now am planning to leave it because my manager is not granting me any leaves in order to attend the GD/PI process. So have decided to finally quit my job. Can I do so without notifying my manager? Also will that pose a problem at the time of joining any B-school because I won't be having any work-ex certificate or relieving letter? (but I do have my salary slip till Feb 2012). Also, at the time of placements after 2 years, do the companies look for these certificates for people with work-ex?
PS: I have bond period of 18 months but I cannot continue with my job anymore..

Going by your percentage of marks in graduation,I'm not very sure if you could get a call from top league IIMs.Till last year IIM C doesn't used to give weightage on Acads, but from this year, they too have started giving considerable weightage to academic performance and so these makes your chances next to nil.I would suggest you to prepare for CAT now and then let these acads take care of themselves. You can't change your past now.Could you?
So,stop worrying about something which is not in your hand.IIMs are not the end of the world and there certainly are equally good colleges if not better than IIMs in India.

Go through the placement report of all these institutes you're interested in.
See,if PSUs come there to recruit or not. That would give you a much better information and help you make a choice.

Hi friends,

I am in dire need of help right now.. plz suggest me a career option to follow:
My 10th and 12th marks are 80 and 70% respectively, and CGPA is 7.47 in electrical engineering... Right now m working in BHEL as an engineer and will complete 2 yrs in may 2012. Since m posted at site i do not find the job as lucrative as i thought it to be.. there are scanty resources, slow decisions, unhealthy and stressful working atmosphere and so remote an area that there is seriously nothing to enjoy and no one to talk to.. I want to do something better with my life.. plz suggest me a good option to choose as life has become hell here..
When i first got the job I was more than happy to get selected but now i regret my own decision to take site to learn anything..

I gave CAT in 2011 and got a horrible percentile but it was due to lack of any preparation. I am not able to get study hours out of my working schedule. Is it advisable to leave job and prepare for MBA?

Plz help me guys..

@Ananya: If u believe that you can crack CAT/GMAT give it a try and go for MBA full time from any top 10 college, also should be eligible for Executive MBA (5+ yrs full time work exp if u have) ,You can shift your domain to consultancy/business analyst/service industry etc.You have diversified work ex which is good. all the best!

First thing first you need to be positive. In hindsight, preparing for cat without a job in hand was not such a good idea. But now what can be done?
Banking entrance is quite a long drawn out process. If u give exam on June, expect your joining on December so another break of say 6 months. So being a ECE student ,I would suggest u to look for a job which would add value to your profile when u sit for a mba interview.Getting a job is not that easy but you can try having some professional certification like CCNA and others and the same institute would place you in a decent organisation.
The point is u need to get out of ur comfort zone and start hunting.
Hope it helps

I am an architect and urban planner by education and I am working in construction/design company now. I completed by my Bachelor of Architecture in 2008 from BESU, Shibpur. And I completed my M Tech In Urban Planning from IIT Kharagpur in 2011. And my total accumulated work experience is around 2 years.I am 28 years old now and I am planing for MBA from a premier institution. Is it good for me to prepare for CAT and go for a full time MBA from any premier one? Will my age stand in my path of doing MBA?Or should I look forward for E-MBA? But again I dont have much experience in context to that!!!Moreover my designation is architect-planner as we do not have managerial designations without atleast 10-12 years of experience (general trend). Please advise me about waht to do

Puys,

Iam a graduate in Bcom(computers).Completed graduation in april 2011. No work experience till date.
I gave 2 cat shots till now.one in 2010 and another in 2011.

- Cat 2010 during my last year in graduation - Dint think of my goals in life seriously.
- Cat 2011 - Gave some efforts for studying with no work experience/no job and had a disastrous fallout in the exam. ( that year i had major personal life disturbances couldnt focus)

Also i gave MAT to be on safer side. And as i said earlier 2011 was my disastrous year in life with other issues in life, scored only 80%tile in MAT 2011.Gave some interviews in the coljs taking MAT score and got selected in 2 colleges but dont want to join. (by that time i became serious in my life and about my aim but was too late so want to give a shot in cat again)

Now comes 2012 - i want to give last shot in cat with utmost honest preparation. This would be my last chance.I want to prepare like i havent in my whole life. But the only and only thing which is hitting my nerves is "I already have one year of gap doing nothing and no experience as my graduation was done by april 2011"

And now again i want to focus with preparation with no job. Is this an advisable step to take sir ???? that would have a total of 2 yrs of gap in my academic life. (just 6 months left and iam not sure of job and preparation side by side)

I got a job a week back. But i want to quit it soon and start prep (as iam not sure of job and prep simultaneously). Please suggest me what can be done.

Is my decision of quiting job and preparing for cat again advisable (in this case i will b having 2 yrs of gap)???

OR

any useful course can be done with preparation side by side. (so that i can can find tremendous time for cat prep and can pursue a short term course also) ???? if yes please suggest me some courses .

My academic background:
10th (cbse) - 85.4 %
12th (state board) - 92.2 %
Degree - 80.6 %

Please advise me.

Thanks in advance.

I am 30 year old girl, currently unemployed. I pursued B.com in 2002 with 49.33 % and M.com with less than 45% in 2009. Yes I was mediocre in academics, I was brought up in conservative and ab-u-sive background (sorry here, no intention to ve-nt, but want to mention so that I can explain my career) started my career with low profiled jobs like tele-marketing, customer support and admin. In 2007 I joined an education institute and worked for little less than two years as academic coordinator, got good exposure and experience there but got married as per parents wish, but marriage failed. But this created one year gap in career. Again I restarted as counselor at overseas consultant, worked there for 7 months, after that I got offer from another educational organisation, they offered me double salary than previous one, but they didn't told me that I will have to sign 2 years bond. Thinking its a good offer and double salary than previous one, I left that job to join new one, given appointment letter. They made me leave my previous job by offering good package, but didn't told me about 2 years bond. After one month of joining I was told about bond. There were forcing me, I kept negotiating on that for another two months, but they didn't agreed and finally terminated my service.

Marriage then divorce, some other personal experience and this bad experience from job made me depressed and I didn't tried to find new job for another 6 months, but later I got offer to teach as visiting faculty at coaching classes of 10th and got some personal tution, so I was employed, and since I had commitment to tutions to teach till March, so I couldn't find any new job, now there is one more 1.5 year gap in my career, I am not enjoying tutions, I want to grow in corporate world only. I know my past wasn't good but I want to move on and do something better in life. But I don't understand, that what reason I give for this one and half year gap. Will any company hire me with such a long gap? I know I made mistakes but I want to improve it, I have learned a lot over this years and I am sure if I work hard I can reach my goals, but I need an opportunity to start.

Now I am thinking that I find a job and along with that also join distance learning MBA/PGDBM to enhance my education. I don't want to go for full-time, as due to little less than 50% in B.com, I don't think I am eligible for CAT/GCET/MAT. Also I don't have time and energy to prepare for that and not have enough money to go to expensive B-school.

I have inquired in insititutes like AIMA, Sikkim manipal university, IGNOU, symbiosis and want to select any of the above. Most probably I would want to select Sikkim Manipal as they offer weekend classes and fees is reasonable. But I would like to know first that would MBA really benefit me, should I go for MBA/pgdbm in distance mode, will it really help someone like me who always had mediocre career, will it be really beneficial to someone like me???? Also, I am 30, so is it too late for MBA? Please suggest me something

Thanks
